The prices of cards in this set are far less likely to hold their value than cards from other sets. The cards' value is high only because of the incredibly low supply of the cards in question. Of the rare and mythics worth more than the MSRP of a pack, how many have seen a reprint? Only 10%-20%, and all were only printed in sets before Magic's boom during the RTR period.
Furthermore, very, very few of the high value cards see competitive play, a marker of the ability of a card's value to withstand a reprint in the long term.
Does anyone honestly believe that filter lands see more play than shocks? The price of shocks is so much lower than filters because shocks were reprinted in massive numbers in RTR block, whereas the filters were only printed (outside of the Expeditions) in the original Shadowmoor block 10 years ago, when the player base was far smaller.
I'd be curious to see where prices are for this set in two months, because I'd be shocked if the EV of a booster box is anywhere close to where these calculations peg it before release.
I'm guessing that they waited so long to release issue #2 (scheduled to release at the end of March) so as not to spoil things too much for the main story.
Mine didn't have the Tamiyo planeswalker pack in it. The one I wanted the most.
I called both HasbroToyShow and Wizards, and after some mutual finger pointing, Wizards will be sending out a replacement to arrive within the next few weeks.
Turn 2: Growth Spiral
Turn 3: Wilderness Reclamation
Turn 4: Circuitous Route
During opponent's next end step: Nexus of Fate.
Then drop a Emergency Powers or humongous Hydroid Krasis during the first of my next two consecutive turns.
Invention Mana Vault is WAY prettier than this new one.
Well, no, the other "final question" is whether Kozilek is #2 or #3. If #2, then Ugin, the Spirit Dragon is in. If #3, then Karn Liberated is in.
I would personally hope for it to be Ugin with the Ugin's Fate promo art because that would look amazing with this foil full-art treatment.
I completely agree. Is WotC that out of touch that they didn't see this product being the type to sell out very quickly? A lot of people who believed that they had successfully ordered the product found out that they didn't actually get it, even though their bank account was charged (the charges are later reversed). I had to order the product three times before it finally went through, even though I got a confirmation order the second time through.
It's no longer 2001, and Wizards/Hasbro can't act like they have any justification for these type of website problems, even without the launching of the Mythic edition. There is no excuse for the massive technical problems the site experienced today. They'd better be prepared for the Ravnica Allegiance Mythic Edition. After today, there's no saying that the traffic levels were unexpected.
So yeah, they should really get their website up to snuff before making it the exclusive place to buy such a heavily-hyped product.
Honestly, I don't mind paying $15 for one of these if the walker is at least playable in EDH (e.g. Nissa, Nature's Artisan, Tezzeret, Master of Metal, etc), and to be honest, I run one Nissa, Nature's Artisan in my Standard deck because BR/mono-R aggro is so prevalent (your opponent is tripping over themselves to get rid of Nissa when you start +3'ing every turn). But it seems like Wizards has been toning down the power level of these walkers even more in recent sets, so I don't know if it's really worth picking these up anymore.
I would assume that you are correct, and that timing restrictions still apply to sorceries you cast. I guess we'll have to wait for the official ruling on this.
A charm that you can blink with Oath of Teferi.
Oh, it is certainly bonkers. Flying is hard to deal with in Limited. Hexproof is VERY hard to deal with in Limited. Together? The thing is going to either end games or stall them out long enough to give you the advantage. It's a great card. And the mana cost shouldn't scare anyone away.
