Hey everyone! I've been away from posting on here for a while!
SO I just bought the deck finally online after playing it in paper for three years now. Hoping to stream it soon and have youtube content of my gameplay. I'll keep you guys posted!
Beside that I'm thinking about a jeskai version with teferi time reveler...
I played Jeskai for a while and loved it! It was before the time of T3feri but it does give you access to a lot of really good sideboard options and having a blend of path and bolt feels nice! If you want a rough idea on a mana base I wouldn't mind posting my old list if I can find it!
Hey everyone! Not sure if this forum still sees responses from the community but I want to re-dive into UB Lantern Control
I used to play a while back - it was one of the first modern decks I played, before whir of invention was printed
That being said I think the deck actually fairs well in the current meta as it is very disruptive to decks like control and whirza. I really want to try building a UB shell with the inclusion of Emry, Lurker of the Loch in place of Ancient Stirrings. I think it makes self milling a lot better and increases our chances of hitting bridge quicker. It also means that you can be a little more lenient on the land base since you can loop together max opals or mishra bauble from the graveyard..
Would you guys help in creating a list? I think it would be cool
So I was under the impression the site was shutting down and you wouldn't be able to post anymore so I haven't checked in a while!
So it's been a really long time since I've posted but just wanted to share my recent successes with UB Taking Turns.. I really wanted a variant that could beat creature matchups and then have a lot of disruption postboard for non-creature matchups and this is what I've come up with.
Hey! Back from playing decks like Taking Turns for a long time
Still feel comfortable playing the deck but was wondering if there is a recent side boarding strategy guide? Like when cards like Restoration angel are good and whatnot
The card only says "skip your next uncap step" so if you can cast multiple extra turn effects or multiple savor the moment you only lose out on one untap step
Good luck Elpokitolama!
--Are you also going to include something like Thing in the Ice in the sideboard? I definitely feel like you need an alternative win condition in the sideboard and the new Jace requires the deck to be more tailored around milling yourself out.
--As for JtMS and Narset - I think her ability to make your mine effects unilateral is really strong but JtMS does a lot of really important things for this deck (ie being able to brainstorm each turn and set up miracles/bounce troublesome creatures/win the game with his ultimate).. I could see running a like 1 Jace/1 Narset split though
--I forgot about Engulf the shore! That could be useful in mono-blue's sideboard! Have been looking for a good sweeper
See! It definitely is incredible!
It's really hard to deal with honestly because most of the time they are tapped down by gigadrowse - and it's a static ability so it isn't like they can stifle the effect
I also really like chalice of the void right now in the sideboard with the current format.. lot's of 1 mana shenanigans going on that are easily stopped with it; and I couldn't ever justify running Chalice with a color splash because usually those splashes were for things like bolt/path/fatal push etc..
I'm playing with it too.
How many copies are you testing?
I'm stuck on 1, opponent seize it one time but it's not my only wincon so I'm not tempted by a second copy.
Right now I run 2 copies of the new jace, 1 JtMS
Then 4 dictate, 2 howling mine
4 time warp, 3 temporal mastery, 3 part the waterveil
I find that the build spirals really fast into a win as you're drawing 5 extra cards a turn and using his +1 to mill and draw each turn
Yeah fluster storm really isn't huge in this deck. I'm really hoping they print something relevant for us! lol
Btw I am loving the new Jace! I have done a lot of testing against spirits/control/phoenix/hardened scales in the past few weeks
Started testing this as soon as the set comes out and it brings back the nostalgia of the original Taking Turns! Winning the game with the new Jace feels a lot more smooth then having to worry about attacking or using bolts. With the mono blue I've also been able to go back to playing Chalice in the side and I really like the list with the use of the new Kefnet and Thing in the Ice.!
I can speak to that.. The reason to use different types of fetches is for the niche chance that your opponent uses a pithing needle-styled effect to turn off your fetches. It really isn't super important unless that is something you see often in your area.
Also - I like the idea of going back to mono blue turns now. I've been doing the same. Phoenix has a tough time against us from my play testing and since that's the top deck in the format I feel like now's the time.
I put myself at 25 lands when testing a deck to guarantee that it runs with a safe amount of lands and cut once I figure out the curve. I think 24 is the safe amount for this list. 23 gets to be kind of dangerous.
Boseju was originally a test to overcome mausoleum wanderer in the spirits matchup, but after testing it the past few nights, I don't like it as much as I thought I would..
Dispel is super strong in the format right now because a lot of decks have adapted to an instant speed style. From when I first started playing the deck, it always felt like one of the strongest cards in the burn matchup other then a Chalice of the Void (which I may try to work into the sideboard at some point)
3 Cryptic is one of the best parts of the deck in my opinion.. It is such a blowout card right now with what decks are tier 1. It's the one card that has made Wilderness Reclamation at all competitive IMO.
The snapcaster mage thing is more so that in a deck where you are trying to mill yourself out and win, it is super important you can dig quickly for mine effects and lock it up.. Mission briefing wins over Snapcaster Mage because of it's surveil. That's been my thought at least in testing
It's super loose right now in it's build but it's because I'm testing several things at once..
Boseju hasn't ever been a card played in this deck but I figured it could be super useful in guaranteeing the Jace resolves or stays protected..
But will continue working on this
