Emracool, I am beginning my group testing today actually. I am bringing in quite a few of your suggestions and once I borrow some skullers I will be testing your exact list. I spent the last week looking at match-ups, and I did not want to go to a state tournament that is sure to have lots of twin without the discard package. I'll link my list on Tapped Out later, and I'll let you know about talking to you about the deck!
I really like the write up you provided Emracool! I am taking this deck to modern states and an IQ in a couple weeks. How do you like your added discard package? I am convinced that cards like skuller, inquisition, and thoughtseize being more present in the board really help with the twin matchup, which is one of my biggest worries right now.
RDW seems to be on the rise in my local meta and it is a tough matchup for me. We are slightly slower than Pre-DRS bannings, so what are some good sideboard cards for helping with that matchup?
EDIT: I'm also curious how you all feel about Kitchen Finks main instead of a courser or two?
If control is keeping you off creatures then sword is a dead draw. Sure it's great on Thrun. But if you are running 1x thrun and 1x sword, you may only see one or the other...
I am running 1x thrun and 1x batterskull in the side
I played a 20 person tournament last night with RUG Twin and loved it :). I definitely need more experience with playing it, because there were several instances where I realized a better play after making a different one. However, the deck was resilient and stood up well to all my matchups, (UWR control being the hardest one).
I think we should discuss our sideboard strategies now with RUG Twin. Particularly when we should side out the combo.
P.S. I am running exactly Patrick's list from the GP.
ancient grudge is worth it in my experience. It's fast, cheap, targeted and has built in flashback. The one of breeding pool or stomping ground in UR twin is not a big deal with fetches in the 75. For RUG Twin its not an issue at all.
If I intend to combo, i'm usually casting mite/exarch on end step. If i'm trying to keep up threat it varies. This deck revolves around reading situations well, and knowing the decks you're up against.
If you guys have SCG Premium I highly recommend the videos Patrick Dickman just did with them on this deck. They were VERY useful in getting better with this list, especially learning the interactions and small things that Patrick has perfected.
Let's go Patrick! Take it all the way, we all believe in you!
After watching Patrick play tarmo twin in the PT I was intrigued; after watching him play in GP Richmond, I am building it. lol. So amazing
Does anyone else feel that snapcaster mage can feel somewhat lackluster sometimes? Much of the time, he just doesn't seem to be as effective as i'd like.
I know we are discussing fetches, but do you guys think tarmogoyf is stable for a while? I want to pick up a set and I feel like now is better than later?
I think that Onslaught fetches would have a positive price impact on modern. Plus, going from a half fetch base to full fetch won't make a huge difference.

So I've got all my RUG twin list built except for 1x goyf.
Is there a decent card I can substitute for the 4th goyf just for this week? (Gotta wait till pay day lol)
I do realize that he is an amazing card. I've been using him in modern since day one.
