I haven't tested borderposts much. Was worried about the comes in tapped part, since the deck has a lot of spells to play on turn 1 and 2. But it would be a lot safer than charge rocks. Maybe a few is good.

I agree with you that the deck shouldn't rely on creatures, blanking their removal spells makes it really hard to interact for them. Have you tried Coretapper? My version is probably a bit more focused on charges than you, obviously he needs a mana rock to work but if you can untap with him it's super strong, and often 2 free charges if they want to waste time killing it.

I think Blue Sun is a better win than Aetherflux, good call there. You draw your whole deck anyway, might as well have something that could help earlier. I think 1 maindeck Defense Grid and 1 skite/jar would be about right. You play Whir so 1 Otherworld Atlas should really be in there, sometimes Bell can't do it.

I tried out Stirrings, obviously its an insane card on paper. It should probably be in this deck but I was a bit hesitant to stretch the mana requirements into green, since you need to play Citadel and I like to play Inventors Fair. But I guess its really easy to do that in modern, and just have green for free (minus some life costs).

I haven't seen a thread for this so I thought I could get the ball rolling.

The most basic kill is getting a Chalice or Cornucopia charged up, then generating a bunch of mana from it with Paradox Engine, then drawing tons of cards with Atlas or Outcome. The kill is Aetherflux Reservoir. All the pieces of the deck are searchable with Whir and Reshape, Mox Opal is very easy to turn on turn 1 or turn 2.

Goldfishes turn 5 normally, sometimes turn 4, but it's pretty redundant and flexible, with sideboard bullets being easy to get. This deck also abuses Chalice of the Void. more than any other deck could dream too. Removal hitting a charged up mana rock is a big weakness, Welding Jar tries to fight that but it might not be enough. I haven't messed around with non-charge versions very much. They feel a lot slower since you need a couple different mana producing artifacts in play instead of just 1 or two, and Coretapper is so strong at accelerating. But they would be safer from removal.

Not sure where to take the deck from here, any thoughts?

Eh. If I had to pick between U: scry 2, draw 1 Or U:look at the top 3, draw 1 or UDraw 3, I'd likely pick the draw three.

Breaking news guys, Ancestral Recall is better than Preordain.

Problem with your logic is that 3 does not equal 7.

I don't know why people don't consider Twin and Scapeshift control decks. Just because they have a combo finish doesn't mean they're pure combo decks like Amulet. Hell, twin boards out their combo half the time and just plays the grind game. Just because Modern control finishers are a little better than tapping out for a 5 mana Dragon doesn't mean there's no such thing as control in the format.

I think Evolutionary Leap is potentially pretty decent. The sacrifice cost is actually often more powerful than the discard cost in a lot of decks. For instance in Elves you want to drop creatures into play to use them for mana, then you can sacrifice them to get more. Of course you'll usually just end up getting other 1 mana elves. I'll try a few copies in my list.

I will be sad if this is the best Deathmist hate Origins has. You have to cycle it for 2 if they don't actually draw the Raptor and hit you with other threats. And have to pay 2 mana to keep up with there's 3 mana play, meaning they got to play a 1 mana 3/3 deathtouch tempo wise.

And yet even after all that, Raptor is so nuts that it seems like maybe you should play it. Pre-emptively or not, removing a 3/3 and drawing a card is worth 4 mana :/

Pretty sure Infinite Obliteration is good against Raptor, if that's your concern.

This could honestly be a Tier 2 deck in standard, especially while Nykthos is hanging around. It seems possible that theres a deck to be built that wins on the spot after resolving this, like the Warp World decks of old.

I built a really sweet Erayo, Soratami Ascendant deck the other day. It flipped him pretty consistently on turn 2, which I thought was really cool. I was excited about the deck until I remembered that Abrupt Decay exists, and makes the strategy completely worthless. I really hate that card, and would love to see it go. I'd rather they make Putrefy that hits enchantments and have that instead of AD.

    You mean Mortify?

Except Mortify is white. And I meant enchantments in addition to artifacts, so it can hit creatures, artifacts, or enchantments. Like a Putrefy that hits enchantments. Which is what I said.

Don't think it's strong enough to warrant jumping through the hoops of having to deal with it later. I don't expect this to make an impact anywhere.

That deck sounds fun, maybe you could use Mizzium Skin or a protection from color spell or something. Abrupt Decay is one of the best catchall removal cards in the format though so I think it would be a net loss for the format and the meta to get rid of it.

Mizzium Skin only hits creatures but Faith's Shield would work. I think the best thing for it would just have it be a sideboard plan, not maindeck. It hard locks some decks out but gets slaughtered by things like Elves or Affinity so it could never be consistent anyways. Doesn't stop me from being salty though.

Also BGx has been too good for too long in too many formats and I'm sick of it.

You would mulligan a hand that lets you play 5 permanents, completely re draw a new hand, as well as cause your opponent to discard 7 and then draw a new seven before they can even play anything?

You and I are different magic players.

Yeah, this is so absurd. Would you like to start this game with an extra 5 cards in play and a full grip? Nah, I'd rather go down to 6.

This card is silly good, I see it absolutely breaking pyromancer ascension

That was my first thought. It seems like a guaranteed win if you can cast this with an active Ascension... you get 6B and 2 cards, which can be two more Dark Petitions, after casting thos you end with 8B and any 4 cards from your deck. One is a Chromatic Star one is a Paste in Flames, start flashing them back. Seems good.
