Personally, I'd go with Chandra, Flamecaller over Stuffy Doll (too cute and there is Boros Reckoner as a cheaper option)
and more copies of Colossus and Titan over Invocation which is too slow imho.
I think that maxing out on Wildfire before adding copies of Destructive Force is the way to go, getting to 6-mana is usually much easier.
Despite not looking like much Guardian Idol is actually a pretty good mana rock that can slowly beat down the opponent as a 2/2 especially after you wrath away their lands and creatures, I'd take it over the Talismans despite being EtB tapped and not tapping for Red.
Hedron Archive is very good in the deck and I'd suggest playing 3-4x copies.

Oct 23, 2017Posted in: Deck Creation (Standard)Quote from D90Dennis14 »So I've cut the 4x Maps for 2x Shefet Dunes and an extra copy of Fatal Push and Battle at the Bridge.
It has freed up 2x SB slots which I've used to add 2x Anointed Procession to grind out better in longer games.
I consider upping the desert count by dropping the 4x Spire of Industry and a couple of basics to add 2x more Shefet Dunes and 4x Ifnir Deadlands.
Would it be a good idea ?
The deck is also missing some card advantage, recently I've seen many decks adopting Treasure Map as a way to scry and later draw extra cards and I wonder if it could be good for this deck as well (and help with improvise) despite not having mainboard Procession to double up the treasure tokens.
Also, what is the best card to replace: Weaponcraft Enthusiast (3-mana) or Cogworker's Puzzleknot (only 1-token initially) if I add Treasure Map ?
Here is the updated list:
BW Improvised ServosMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Creature (8)
4x Weaponcraft Enthusiast
4x Herald of Anguish
3x Battle at the Bridge
4x Servo Exhibition
4x Sram's Expertise
4x Cogworker's Puzzleknot
2x Throne of the God-Pharaoh
4x Aethersphere Harvester
4x Hidden Stockpile
3x Fatal Push
4x Concealed Courtyard
4x Spire of Industry
4x Evolving Wilds
2x Inventors' Fair
2x Shefet Dunes
1x Fatal Push
1x Battle at the Bridge
4x Cast Out
2x Anointed Procession
Since the deck's main strength is grinding out I decided that the Harvester + Throne idea is probably not good enough and replaced them with:
4x Anointed Procession and 2x Treasure Map.

There is also Make a Stand, though it probably isn't better than Rootborn Defenses.
Oct 17, 2017Cast Out is indeed a card, but it will hit anything regardless so I don't think it should be the consideration.Posted in: Deck Creation (Standard)
I havent't seen Appetite for the Unnatural played much, but post board with some more counters protecting Summonings should be pretty manageable.
Torrential Gearhulk doesn't seem that good of a finisher right now, besides Cast Out it also gets hit by Vraska's Contempt and Abrade which are blanks against Summonings.

There is a U/R Delver deck in Legacy, so you can just switch around the creatures.
Oct 16, 2017Do you think that the deck can be built around Metallurgic Summonings as the win-condition ?Posted in: Deck Creation (Standard)
Something like this:
UR SummoningsMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Enchantments (6)
2x Search for Azcanta
4x Metallurgic Summonings
4x Harnessed Lightning
2x Lightning Strike
2x Cut // Ribbons
4x Sweltering Suns
4x Supreme Will
4x Glimmer of Genius
4x Spell Swindle
2x Hour of Devastation
4x Aether Hub
4x Spirebluff Canal
4x Highland Lake
2x Essence Scatter
2x Confiscation Coup
2x Chandra's Defeat
Oct 16, 2017You also have creatures like Dryad Militant that offer similar GY-hate stapled to a creature.Posted in: Modern
Though I wonder what would require more than a set of Scooze (which most decks don't even run the full 4x-of).

Is this really an issue? Are Humans/Slivers/Merfolk really so strong that we want to remove Cavern? Constrol should have sweepers to deal with go-wide strategies; if you feel the uncounterability of the weenie squad is what your control deck is losing to, maybe you should find some other deck to combat them with. It's super important for Humans/Slivers to have a 5 color land, and even with the new Unclaimed Territory, I don't think Cavern is even close to on Wizard's radar. The only thing I can say against Cavern is that it allows Eldrazi (which already dodge the format-standard removal spells of Lightning Bolt and Fatal Push) to dodge counters, as well, but I think most people would agree that Eldrazi, if it needs any bans, needs something stiffer, like Temple or Tron ban(s).
I think as time goes on Cavern just gets better and better. It's also highly punishing to 1 specific type of answer. Control should be a good favorite against mid-range decks like Eldrazi, but Cavern just *****s all over it. You can't afford to have dead interactive cards in your hand and that's what Cavern does for decks like Fish/Humans/Slivers/etc., so saying you should have sweepers, isn't really a valid argument given the breadth of the format. It just doesn't promote format health imho. At least cards like GSZ/Pod/BBE have some inter-play to them. Cavern really was a mistake and should go. I'm sure more people would be upset if there was a tribal land that gave the creature hexproof which is equivalent to uncounterability with counters, but for some reason it gets a pass because ... counters are "unfun"?
Plus as you brought up they just printed a 5 color tribal land.
Don't conrol decks (specifically UW control) have cards like: Ghost Quarter, Tectonic Edge (or Field of Ruin) and Spreading Seas ?
Cavern of Souls is a perfectly manageable card and should not be considered for banning, it isn' even close to warping or dominating the format.

I don't really see this card doing anything in Modern when it has to compete with Scavenging Ooze and Kitchen Finks which are better cards.
Oct 16, 2017I'm looking to make the deck more competitive as I really think this combo is rather powerful and not very easy to hate out as it doesn't care about hate cards like Stony Silence and Leyline of Sanctity which affect similar combo decks like: Ad Nauseam and Eggs.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I feel like the maindeck is pretty solid (with 1x Idyllic Tutor and 3x Supreme Will as the most flex-slots) so I wonder how to best tune the SB of the deck, Should I focus on:
1) Protecting the combo against hate cards like: Rest in Peace, Rule of Law/Eidolon of Rhetoric and Leyline of the Void.
2) Adding more disruption to survive against faster decks like Burn/Storm to survive to the combo.
3) Go with a trasformative SB to catch opponents (who side out all their removal) off-guard and side out the combo and become
sort-of a "UW Delver/Tempo" deck with creatures like:
Delver of Secrets (or Riddleform), Monastery Mentor, Cryptic Serpent, Geist of Saint Traft and make them uncertain whether I'll side the combo back in for game 3 or not.
What do you think ?

Oct 16, 2017Lost Legacy was probably not the best idea though it can take Angel of Invention which is their main win-con and leave them with a bunch of mediocre creatures which are easier to handle (or race).Posted in: Deck Creation (Standard)
A slightly more flexible option to hate on GY's can be Scarab Feast which can be cycled as well.
Snipping 3-cards can be enough in some games.
Another option is to use Scavenger Grounds either as 1-2x-of in the maindeck or a couple in the SB as it has the additional utility of tapping for mana.
I just don't really like dedicating SB slots to cards like Crook and Totem when there aren't many GY-dependant decks in the format and those that existent aren't doing anything too broken that can be dealt with otherwise (like "Dredge" in older formats).

And you can't play only 16x lands with such a high mana curve and should trim the deck down to 60x cards.
