I'm the same guy as IamSpeck, I just can't remember the password and made a new account when I was at work, anyway.

I'm very happy with Flame of Keld so far. I wouldn't run more than two as a second copy in any hand is useless, but the card gives you reach in games where they are able to disrupt you early.

White splash, while not a must, I highly recommend. The sideboard hate in white is just so strong. I'm considering upping to three copies of both stony silence and rest in peace. Cutting Harsh Mentor, which is good against Devoted Druid combo, but doesn't hit as many decks as the white cards.

The dismembers I feel are just necessary evils for the humans match-up. You need as many one mana kill spells as possible.

I haven't faced much control decks so far. I really hadn't tested the deck that much as I don't really get to test outside of actual tournaments. Before I had been playing rakdos burn, which is at least similar.

This is my starting point, going to try it out at FNM tomorrow. Current alternate choices include Sunscorched desert in place of Blinkmoth Nexus, as may end up tapping out so much I never activate the Nexus and it's more deserts to sack. Switching the Ramunap Ruins to [card]Karpulsan Forest
[/card], and fecthes and a stomping ground to add green to the sideboard, but that's just so I can add Destructive Revelery for Bogles's leyline.

I realize this is a bit of mixing two different decks, but my burn deck keeps flooding with 20 lands (and losing because of it, drew 6 lands in a row last night) or playing less than that and having to mulligan to death or keep one landers that never draw a second land. I'd probably play the R/G deck list, but I don't have any Nobles.

Any criticism is welcome. Deck's don't get better from people just saying, that looks good. Does the land base have enough colorless, for instance?

Modern game. Lantern versus Fire and Brimstone (R/B burn)

P2 cast lava spike at P1
P1 taps land and artifacts to cast Whir of Invention for Witchbane Orb

Can P2 now wait for Witchbane Orb to come into play to cast Kolaghan's Command to destroy it (and likely shoot P2 for two) before Lava Spike tries to resolve?

I wouldn't ask for thoughts if I just wanted you to agree with me. I suppose I should have specified that I wanted a faster clock than Mardu pyromancer, not other burn decks. In the games I've played, bedlam does sometimes get stuck in you hand, but he enables you to refuel in match-ups where you've been made to discard a lot, which has come up multiple times with jund being more popular. I have lost one game where if he had been a burn spell I would have won, but I've won multiple games due to him drawing multiple ones. I definitely don't recommend playing more than two though.
I can see how brutality is iffy in the deck. As I don't run as many fetches, I tend to have excess land more often than most burn decks. That being said, I like the suggestion of pyrite spellbomb or reality hemorrhage as they both can deal damage and win the game if the intended target never turns up.
I may switch out Lavaclaw reaches for another basic Mountain. I originally wanted raging ravine in that spot (which is even higher to activate) but couldn't get any. In seven matches activating only mattered once and it likely wasn't needed. I want to go down to 19 lands, perhaps I'll cut it for a manamorphose. The overgrown will either become a fetch or basic I think.

Lucky for me I started building Pyromancer before the pro tour. I was only short 2 Bedlam's (which quadrupled in price) so not too wallet breaking.

This is my current deck list. I’ve played it in a couple FNMs (well one was a Wednesday) to 6-1 so far. The only change I’ve made was cutting a singleton of Young Pyromancer for main deck Molten rain. I was playing mardu pyromancer but decided I wanted a faster clock. I’ve opted for this over Boros as Kholaghan’s Command is just amazing in the meta and between it and Bedlam gives the deck reach it wouldn’t normally have. The deck’s manabase does make turn two slightly less consistant to have RR but keeps from getting locked out of green by Field of Ruin in sideboarded game.

The only thing I’ve lost to is Geist of Saint Traft turn three followed by Steel of the Godhead turn four in back to back games against Bant spirits. Granted I’ve only played a handful of matches and many were close, but I feel happy taking this to the SCG Open this weekend.

The only sideboard slot I’m unsure of is Collective Brutality. I had dreadbore in this slot, but most resolved planeswalkers are too late, with the exception of Karn. I like Brutality for the mirror and to kill Forge tenders and Kor Firewalkers.

    Thoughts?

I've managed to play in three WNM's of modern so far. 7-5 is my record with Eldrazi taxes. Waiting for a few more cards to come in to try a new deck. The ability to not play for a couple months and still be able to pick up an old deck is what draws me to it. Also the fact that out of my 12 rounds, I faced 8 different decks, and even then the two UW control lists were very different from each other. Brewing is harder as it's a more solved format, but new sets effect it enough that there are still subtle changes. glad to see it back on the pro tour next year.

I've been playing magic since the original Ravnica block. Started playing constructed when Time Spiral came out. Block was still a format then. Drafted a lot 2 or 3 times a week. GP Trials every other weekend it seemed like. Played Block, Standard, Extended. Finally played legacy a few years ago, but somehow never played modern. I took a year off due to just not having time and came back when Amonkhet came out. Standard seemed too expensive to jump into so I just drafted a lot, built up my card base for the future. Finally traded off some older stuff to build a modern deck.

So last night was my first Modern tournament, 16 players, played Eldrazi Taxes. Sit down, first opponent goes to 15 on his first turn... yep Death's Shadow. managed to take him down in games 2 and 3. He drew badly in game 3. Went on to face Burn (0-2), a W/U sun titan control deck (0-2) and a budget mono green deck.

I really like the format. Deck variety is high. Death's Shadow is very good, but at least it's interactive. It's not just turn four combo, they could possibly kill you turn 4, but would be very exposed to removal.

can't wait to play more. I'll probably try standard after rotation.

I understand that Hour of Glory is a plot card, but the art is terrible. It's an example of what I hate about the modern style of art design. From the art alone, you have no idea what is going on. At least show the stabbing occurring. I just prefer the looser style of old sets. The card itself is okay, but only hitting others in their hands seems a rare upside.

Is there a fan program for inputing a draft so you can see how the draft went, similar to what wizards does for usually one draft at the pro tour? So you could sit in any chair and see how they drafted. I do the occasional Grab Bag draft (aka chaos draft) and wanted to be able to share how it went.

I do at least one of these a year. I try to save 6 boosters of each set for future chaos drafts, I'm about 5 packs from my next one. I always wait till I have 24 different boosters. I was able once to do all the multi color sets Invasion block, both ranivca blocks, Shards block, Shadowmoor, eventide, and the rest was recent stuff. I love how the pick order changes so much, things that would have been a first pick in it's own format will go 13th pick.

I use the bags that sleeves come in. A bag for 50 sleeves fits 15 sleeved cards perfectly. It takes awhile to gather enough of them, but whenever you see someone buying new sleeves just ask for the bag. They were probably going to throw it away anyway.
