Guys, just chill out! BBE is back, the queen sits once more on her throne but let's take a breath. First of all: for the begining it'll be a 4 off in the main deck, no questions asked. If you think about 3, just ask youself what card would replace the 4th and if that card did something for Jund in the recent past.
Second: bolt back at 4 gets us the reach we need against tron and other hard races.
Third: JTMS is back and it's not that bad as it seems. Between 4 bolts and 4 BBE, do you think you'll need the second maelstrom that bad? Or even the first? Sure, for the first few weeks it'll be everywhere but after that, the general hysteria will calm down.
BBE won't turn us in a tier 0 deck. In fact we don't even want this. It'll give us a fair chance in every match we play and that's the spirit of Magic!

I guess many of us are waiting for something new...the metagame is the same and it's bad for us. Ixalan hasn't brought anything useful, the available options were over-discussed again and again so we're kinda stuck at the moment...
Rumors are saying that we might see unbannings in the february B&R announcement, is this the time to get Jund to tier 1 again maybe?
I wouldn't be that optimistic as to say Jund would be tier 1 again, if BBE (I don't see other viable options) comes off the list. But I'm sure it would give us a chance in a very hostille metagame so keeping my fingers crossed!
BBE is 100% getting unbanned at some point. It's the most obvious choice to take off the list.

How? Mainly through a somewhat similar to collected company effect, granting us a bump in speed and consistency. I would love to see a BBE against a tron deck at 6 life with the possibility to flip a bolt off the top.
When I switched from Junk to Jund, Kolaghan's Command was the card that impressed me most by far. It's probably my favorite red card in Jund now. What could you possibly be cutting it for? It's Jund's Lingering Souls in a lot of ways
Random hypothetical question here for you older Jund players: if BBE were legal how many would we run? I didn't play Jund back in those days, and I see that now we only run 2 4-drops. Would BBE just be a 2-of?
It would be a 4 of, in my opinion. I would personaly cut all other 4 drops (I run 3) and the 3 scooze and I would jam in 4 BBE and 2 Grim Flayer.
And I really think it's about time to get BBE back. It's in no way more over powered than company, for example.

It blows my mind how they took such a simple intuitive concept with "legendary" and made it completely unintuitive with rules changes.
How is it (thematically or lore wise) that we summon two gideons? Or that our oponent also summons a gideon. Legendary meant unique - cannot be two copies on the battlefield. Then they screwed that up, then they started variations of the same legend with time spiral - altho spiral we could buy because alternate timeline etc. But here we have thalia guardian and thalia heretic that are literally the same unique persona existing on the battlefield at the same time.
And when that seemed to be as dumb as they could be they go and let you do the same thing with their marquee planeswalkers? How am I attacking with three gideons at the same time targetting my opponents gideons?
Thematically it is incredibly dumb and doesn't work. However in terms of game play it quite a bit better just like the last change making it so both player could have a legendary creature or planeswalker. Sometimes we have to give up flavor for function.
I could be overreacting but...maaan, are they completly nuts? At the moment it could not mean much but let the modern pros two weeks to adapt and you'll see. Gideons will be all over the place...do you like facing Liliana? No? Guess what, you'll face two by turn 4! Do you think you'll be able to navigate your way through them? Don't think so!
This will lead to some broken decks and a loud cry from wizards: "ohhh nooo, Lili is sooo broken, let's ban her!"...

I think people here just want unbans for the unbans. The format is just fine. Its diverse and healthy. I am sure they are testing cards behind the scenes and deeming then unfit for modern. People should have more faith in Wizards, I am sure they keep an eye on the format. Especially since its a PT format, I am sure Wizards isnt abandoning it.
I wouldn't say unfit for Modern. I see no way in which BBE or JTMS or SFM would be unfit for modern. It's just that they're probably unfit for wizards' views or just they don't care. And please, don't ask me to have faith in Wizards after their last "let's ruin FNM forever" action.
On the other hand, we're all biased in a way or another. Some want to play the respective cards (me included, I can't wait to slam on the table my FNM promo BBE) and some are afraid that these potential unbans would send their current decks (be it EldraTron, Death's shadow or another) down the tier list.
I'm hoping for a BBE unban next time...though I will probably not be able to play her, having faith in Wizards kinda killed my LGS...
I will gather more hands like these which I find interesting and will post them to discuss them.
