Blue tempo you are dropping her along with pterramander and other dangerous threats. To put it bluntly, the point you made on her making birds is interesting since the math makes her very bad as a token generator. Her second ability is literally the payoff, and people will want to kill her before she gets that flier online as it will probably swing for lethal.

Control token generating walkers are things like Tezzeret, where it boosts their loyalty and throws a chump blocker on the field, or the six drop fat walkers that can just end the game on their own. Mu just cant tango with the big boys and live.

Could someone use her in a control build? Yeah, but control shells are the most wide open buggers when it comes to win cons. If someone wanted to win off mill, they could take a control deck and chuck some jank thing in at the end just to watch the opponent go into table flip mode.

Wait, someone thinks this is NOT competitive?! This is definitely competitive. You have to think of it as a 4/4 flier on turn 3 kind of like what the current Djinn in standard is like. You can literally just play her turn 3, +2 her, and drop a 4/4 flier on turn 4. The only reason she wont see play right away this season is because Mono-blue has the three drop djinn. She's basically an aggro walker and isn't trying to do something like Liliana, The Last Hope, where she is killing creatures and trying to reanimate something in a mid-game strategy.

She is pretty decent when facing aggressive archetypes. Sometimes all you want is a road block to hold out a turn. She is threatening enough to warrant punching out, can tick up rather aggressively, and can generate a win con if the opponent doesn't act against her.

She is not as good as Liliana the last hope because she can only stall, not outright kill small creatures. For that you need to pair her with removal of some sort.

Will we get the new community site link here? I'm assuming it will get posted when it is far enough along.

Yeah, who thought Narset would be the star of the set. No one blinked an eye when she was spoiled. Definitely missed that boat. She's being played in all major formats.

There was lots of talk about her almost immediately at my LGS. But we have a lot of various blue cantrip decks, and many who also play cantrip-heavy Legacy decks, so she seemed like a hit from the getgo. We all saw that it would hose our decks and be great in the mirrors.

I'm just happy she's an uncommon, so she is dirt cheap and widely available.

Hmm, asking since I'm not sure what to do..

Are the jap alternate art walkers a limited thing. Or are they eventually going to flood the market? If they are going to be limited in print, I'm getting one now. But will wait if the print run would be large. Thanks.

The problem is the availability of the boxes. I think they had a printing snafu from the new card stock getting introduced and they didn't get the Japanese boxes out on the first wave. The next wave is on the newer stock.

What does the mulligan fix, and why is it better than the old way? The point of playing a card game is dealing with what life gives you, for better or worse. The more something detracts from that aspect, the less card game like the game gets. To me, it sounds like wizards is giving in to the idea of letting people pick the starting hand with minimal repercussions.

The change isn't going to discourage cheating on the competitive circuit, so I'm really wondering what the long term plan is.

I'm kind of wondering if there is a shell that would want Spellskite + Giver of Runes. Basically, the two together work like mother of runes, in that you can just redirect whatever targets giver to spellskite, then give spellskite the protection.

Carrion feeder, nimble mongoose, and spore frog are all really good one drops in modern. Sometimes, the problem is more so one of perception than mechanical superiority.

The issue with modern competitive tier one is a touch complicated, though. Some people are viva la freedom and think the problem is card costs, but I'm of the mind set it is one of perception and greed.

Wizards wants to have super expensive listed cards because if they stay there at that price, it creates a self fulfilling prophecy that can be milked in specialty sets. If they were to print the cards to death to drop the price, they may shatter the competitive illusionary advantages as more people get the cards, and we might even see more deck building, but then wizards loses their cash cow. Not to mention, there is the possibility the masses find a format where a deck can be shut down with a leyline or chalice bad, which would lead to more people pushing the company to ban these cards.

We already got people that want fast mana banned from modern.

I'm not posting as much, but I definitely think we need a place like mtgsalvation forums that don't turn into a chaotic reddit slug fest.

Brewing decks is what keeps this game alive.

I like the set, just the price seems too high. I'd have sold this at 150 and printed more.

Legacy is slower than modern, though. The reason Kess works there is that turn 4 is not a distant possibility, where as in modern we're talking about a 3/4 that has to somehow keep you alive against a creature with 5+ power. By the time you get her down on turn 4, you wont have time to actually cast the removal needed to prevent lethal and would end up chump blocking.

After contemplating it, this sword seems pretty well placed at the moment. They just brought back Proliferate in the current standard set and this sword does have some pretty outstanding effects.

So did they just pull Iconic Masters 3.0 on us now? First Iconic, then Masters 25, and now Modern Horizons?

The little child in me... it can't be contained... it's the frog I nicknamed sporgy and was in every single deck that I included green in back when it first was released. Sporgy has come home... Frown

You really need 3 colors or more to require a fetch, and at that point you already got the true fetchlands. This card is basically "hey guys, I'm a callback to fetches that fetches stuff!" buy me bait.
