Quote from Teia Rabishu »There's a lot about the pro scene that really trickles some bad values down through the playerbase when you get right down to it. Problem is I can only antagonize so many people in one article, you know?
True that. There's only so many times I can handle people questioning why I mainboard Duress instead of Thoughtseize or inquisition of Kozilek, when those cards are outrageously priced and someone would have to have either gotten lucky with their drafts or have a lot of disposable income devoted to magic just to have them.
But yeah, it goes back to the whole deal of Wizards needing to print something like Vingolf Engage Knights each rotation that contains all the dominant main deck cards found in top pro-tour decks that are rotating out. Just slap two of each in there and sell them at msrp 35 usd to all major retailers.
The situation would require some context. While it's one thing to be a rude to others and be a rules lawyer, it's a bit much when someone is being rude to a new player, is winning, and is also Rules lawyering when they are winning. Even the judge and store owner were with me on that one.
Yeah, my last posting was probably myself having a pointless rant session, but it's always painful to see a perfectly fair card get a home in a glass cannon deck or some truly broken abomination of mankind and then have to see it get banned. If modern cheerios takes off, for example, are they just going to ban Puresteel paladin? If they do that they might as well put the nail in the coffin for any equipment strategy.
It's the complacency at these FNM tournaments that really drives a nail in me. I've put my foot down on some players at my own FNM and it has had results.
The game isn't going to vanish, but it's in decline due to faster, easier to learn and quicker to play games preventing new players from ever stepping into magic. Also, the costs of modern are presenting a problem on a public relations standpoint. Existing players don't have the same confidence in the game that existed a while ago as well. Kind of reminds me of fallen empires days.
I've been doing a massive resleeving and sleeving project where I've been double sleeving using KMC perfect fits and hypermats. So far I'm in about 1200+ sleeves and have had no issues yet. That sounds really strange, though.

This is basically the 0 cmc build, but given the shell is about improvise one doesn't need to try and rush the game with all 0 and 1 drop artifacts. I think some of the best sources for paying improvise are cards like Servo Schematic, which give effectively two generic mana towards your next play. Also, I don't think vigilence and flying is enough to make Heart of Kiran a good target for Tezzeret's Touch. It's vulnerable to removal at 2 cmc in this format and the best vehicle for the deck is definitely Aethersphere harvester. If you want more mana fixing to ramp into big artifacts, you can combo Tezzeret's Touch with Cultivator's Caravan as well.
The more I'm thinking on this, though, I really hope the reprints are more from Zendikar. There's just too many sets from the past that need a newer reprinting, and that includes just about all the modern viable lands, swaths of cards from innistrad and back, etc.
So what was everyone elses special card(s) that they really loved once they arrived?
Actually, all you need is a sacrifice outlet and it works fine like Bloodflow Connoisseur. Get mike out, burn the counter on ballista, sacrifice it to Connoisseur, it comes back with a counter, use the counter, etc. Then you can use things like Reckless Fireweaver as well to just combo burn the heck out of someone.
Nameless Cultist GB
"G Tap: Search your library for a creature with an emerge cost and put it into your hand. You may use Cultist to pay the emerge cost. If you do not, sacrifice Cultist."

Likewise, I think the power of searching and getting to play an artifact at the same time is why they are scared of unbanning stoneforge mystic.
Yeah, the card has a lot of potential in modern. Most of my posts are kind of time sensitive since we just got done with the first tournament of the new standard and this pattern always happens with the top cards. This guy is one to keep an eye on, but his price definitely will come down a bit to probably spell queller levels.
