I know I'm way behind, but I think either (but not both) King Torg or D_V are scum based on posts 176 + 177. For now, i'm inclined to Unvote. Vote: King Torg.

@fug You've posted three times so far, and expressed almost no opinions whatsoever. I don't count voting for someone for being "really aggressive" or whatever. This really leads me to believe that you're just trying to go without ticking anyone off or drawing attention to yourself, which is just lurking 101. At the risk of sounding hypocritical, I'm going to express my opinions as blatantly as possible.
I think you're scum because you're lurking, and so I am voting for you.

That is just the way my personality works, IRL and on the internet. You are entitled to your opinion, and honestly I really don't care. If voting for me helps you gather information and moves the game along, so be it. As Nago put it:

Some issues have been raised and some of you did not even bother to comment. This way, we as a town haven't got a lot to work with. Which is bad for us and good for scum. Which is why we need to start actually participating and stop being afraid to go out into the water. If you are town, you shouldn't be too worried if you get voted or even lynched, since all votes and lynches are data we can work with. We are the majority, but are uninformed. Our best chance to get informed by day, not by night.

As I said before, my vote was tentative, to test the waters. I'm starting to form reads on people, but to be honest, none of them are strong. Everyone insists that they are town and people who post less are scum, doesn't really give me a whole lot of insight into anyone's motivations.

Also, @fuggingolli***, you have to follow the voting syntax we're all using if you want your vote to be registered by the vote-counter.

    Ok, Vote: nagobcnik

Sorry, I was away for a couple days, my parents were visiting. I come back and there is a lot to process.
It seems my first comment ruffled some feathers, so let me clarify. I was speaking in character, I thought this was a role-playing game, but it has pretty much just become a bunch of speculation and it seems that people are being scrutinized for how active they are instead of what they are doing in character (so far, EL is the only other person to post in character).

Anyway, right now I have a tentative vote for nagobcnik, as they seem to be a bit of an antagonist.

I hope that in the later stages of this game there is more role-playing. We were all given characters, we should be using them.

Checking in: I am Child of Alara, just chilling in the Maelstrom.
As a true WUBRG dopeboi, I have no alignment to any of the shards, and therefore no alignment with any of you.
I will reserve my vote until I have more information.

  • posted a message on Vial Zoo
Playing Death&Taxes in Modern for many years, I have come to the conclusion that Aether Vial is simply one of the best cards in the game, and I decided that I wanted to build a deck that evokes the card's true potential. What makes Vial so powerful is that it does many things at once: it allows you to play creatures at times when they wouldn't normally be played, makes them uncounterable, and the icing on the cake, doesn't require a mana investment to do so. This leaves your mana open to interact with what your opponent is doing.

Being a bit of a nerd for fast mana, the first card I wanted to exploit with Vial was Priest of Gix. Unfortunately, the priest is not in Modern, so I decided to build around Burning-Tree Emissary instead, putting the deck firmly in Gruul colors. This allowed access to a couple of cards that are bloody brilliant with Aether Vial: Abbot of Keral Keep & Eternal Witness.

In the end, I built a Zoo list that revolves around playing a ton of synergistic creatures, drawing a bunch of cards, and blowing the game out with fast mana and burn. Basically, the best things in the the game. Here is my
    decklist

Let me talk about some of my card choices.
Manamorphose: I'm running a full playset because it basically equates to a free cantrip that triggers prowess. These are the flex spots, and will often be the first to be cut when sideboarding. I think they are best replaced with more burn, or with meta-dependent hatebears.

Myr Superion: With 4 Vials and 4 BTE in the maindeck, you will pretty much always get this guy out. He's a Tarmogoyf that never shrinks and costs $80 less.

Scavenging Ooze: Cheaper than Goyf while also denying your opponents' Goyf/Delve plans, as well as gaining life.

Keldon Marauders: Another efficiently-costed beater with anice recurring ping effect. Plus, their downside is mitigated by Eternal Witness.

Please leave your feedback! I want to try to get this deck to be as competetive as possible.
