    Keenwa1,
I'm curious if there is a reason you aren't running engineered explosives. The main reason I'm considering a splash is to be able to blow up either 1 or 2 cmc board states if I fall behind.

an get my hands on a copy

Are you aware that mask of memory works specifically with combat damage? It won't do you any good to equip it on a ballista...

I was not. Playtesting online I was hooking it up to the 1/1 fliers. I conflated it with the effect of a Basilisk Collar on W. B. and this card.

So not nearly as good, still some nice value for late use of 1/1's that have evasion. Maybe not worth the slot though.

EDIT: on a more positive note i've been considering the immortal sun myself, and it would make sense if planeswalkers are heavily played (but calling it «the truth» is most likely exagerated).

Have you given it a try? Recently I've been losing often to a combo of Bad luck draws and liliana of the veil! (usually at the same time).
I've been considering Imprisoned in the Moon but the immortal sun seems potentially good enough to run MB.

Also I've been running 2 Mask of Memory and have been happy with the additional card draw. Attached it to a Walking B. and it can draw you a good number of cards and with 8 1/1 fliers in the deck it makes their late game presence a bit more impressive when you are attacking with them. Unclear it is worth the slots long term though.

Seems like both are a great source of value, but honestly i'm a little scared of the «crew 3», which seems like it could be hard to achieve sometimes when facing pressure and interaction compared to smuggler's copter's crew 1.

Was my concern as well, and I admit I 1x Crewed it with a crewed Smuggler's copter. Smile
But in my "limited" testing I ended up being to Crew it when I saw it more often than untapping Traxos, Scourge of Kroog. The ability to kill a few of the value creatures that people play but never attack in with (unless they are going to win) was helpful.

Hi all. Started playing this deck about a week ago and have been very impressed by it. The Synergy is really powerful and while playing I often feel like when they blow up my things I don't care because the deck recovers fast (and a Path To Exile just gets me safer on mana).

I am playing a fairly standard list with the exception that I am at 3 Mausoleum Wanderer and added a Skysovereign, Consul Flagship. I know the importance of having those early game drops, but I felt like there were a lot of games where I was top decking too many low impact creatures. Skysovereign doesn't cost too much to crew, usually kills something when you cast it and punishes them if they can't remove it.

Is my line of thinking off here? I'm still adjusting to optimal line of playing with this deck and concerned I might be being a bit too results oriented because Skysovereign has performed well on my small sample size.

  • posted a message on Modular Cube for Winston Draft size advice
I've recently learned about Modular Cubes and the idea really appealed to me. My wife and I will occasionally do a Winston Draft and I started thinking this is the best way to reuse the cards I have while mixing up the experience.

What I'm unsure of is how many cards should be in my base and each of my modules if the design intent is 2 player Winston drafts. I've seen recommendations for 120-180 base cards and 40 card modules, but it feels like taking 90 cards out of 200 (assuming 2 modules due to 2 people) isn't enough as you are unlikely to see enough synergy and it could just end up being who actually got the most specialized cards from the module.

I was thinking 60 base cards, modules of 40, and for the 2 person draft taking 3 random modules. That would mean that you get to see 50% of the pool making replaying with the same modules not too terrible.

Thoughts on how these numbers should shift?

I think I would be against it. Flavor wise I like it being not related to the multimeter. The Un part just doesn't fit.

Solution? Make it a dream of Jace or something.

Uhhh what? You think the idea that maybe an attractive women who dresses up revealing might be taking advantage of romantically challenge magic players is a tin foil conspiracy?

I'll be customarily blunt about this: That ***** doesn't happen.

It's just scaremongering meant to help people feel bad about alienating others. Sure, some cosplayers may be in it for the money, but their intentions aren't this kind of predatory "lead men on and victimize them out of their money" gubbins. At worst, it's just business.

Not at worst! In fact it is just as it is. No different than any model (and a Cosplayer is clearly a model of a sort). It is clearly business, which is what makes it so crazy that these people that say they are conservatives and fighting against a liberal overtake of magic are being such jerks about it. And if Christine S. was trying to go all out and make sex sell, she was doing a crappy job of it. She is an attractive woman that did an amazing job in the outfits she did. Amazing not because she was sexy but because they were very authentic. She wasn't going for Orion Slave girl from Star Trek, which likely would have gotten her a lot more patrions of these supposedly challenged magic players that, IMO, if they are delusional and sad enough to give their money to someone they never met for reasons Jeremy proposed, that is on them man... Any capitalist would happily take their money and Jeremy should be applauding, being negative to her for finding a niche. After all, he found his niche in appealing to men who never wanted to grow up.

The downside is playing less tron lands which doesn't just reduce the chance of natural tron but hurts your overall consistency. You will assemble tron later, and when you do you will have less mana on average. I am not having any issues producing blue mana with 9 lands that tap for blue, 1 field of ruin, 1 gemstone caverns and 4 maps of course. How many blue sources are you running?

I even think this manabase supports double blue spells very consistently.

8 blue lands, Talisman of progress, 1 field of ruin and 3 T. West currently.
I'm going down 1 tron land but up 3 tutors that can fill as land without casting if needed so wouldn't I on average get more mana per game? Just assembled 1 turn later some 5% of the time or something. Plus all 3 tutors can get me Void and Ballista.
What is making me think this is not correct is that since T West has to be cast during main phase, I'm hitting tron in more games BUT usually taking a turn off.

Eric Froelich comes off the top my head.

Supposedly people were messing with the guys patreon and facebook, its hard to tell especially when its clear the conversation is only allowed to flow to one conclusion.

Eric Froelich is the only one I could think of as well, but as I understand it he has at least admitted he was being an *** and implied he would be stopping. Granted, an adult never would have been in a situation where you needed to admit, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and if he does it again after he took a stance here he should get ripped apart by the community. Honestly, I would be shocked if people aren't going to keep an eye on Eric going forward, on both sides. Schadenfreude is totally a thing.

Has anyone considered going down 1-2 Tron pieces, adding blue and then having 2-3 Tolaria west's in the deck as tutors (fall back as lands?)
Not as good as having 6-7 Maps, but it seems like it would increase our chances of having a blue source for our spells, lets us grab Walking B, Void, or some of our SB.

Yes, reduces the chance of a natural tron but increases the chances of a early remand (if you ave remand in hand) and more confidence with the late game).
It seems good playing, but I feel like I'm missing a downside.

Names on the lists of pros have been guilty of unsportmanlike conduct and the fact that people being video tapped against their will and mocked online isnt garnering the same level of concern leads me to the conclusion that at best the people defending Christine are naive and at worst using it as a way to increase their own importance/ego. So instead of using an acronym Ill just type it out longer, will see if thats considered flaming.

It might help if you cite some of the examples you are referring to and put a name to them. Defending Christine S. is easy because she didn't pick a fight with anyone as far as I can tell. You may be right that there are other situations that should merit outrage, and maybe this continues to explode and we have a situation like what is happening with sexual harassment in the media now with a bunch of allegations and crumbling of reputations. However that other evils are overlooked doesn't make the noticed evil acceptable.

Now when the conversation is moderated to only assume the innocence of one of two parties it impossible to even find out if what is true because your only hearing one side.

But again the point is to make the hoops one needs to discuss the topic so difficult that anyone who is willing to take a more rationale and skeptical stance becomes discouraged from even participating.

Agreed that it makes it difficult, but I haven't even seen anything on non-moderated sites that indicate this was anything but one sided. Jeremy is proud that he starts trouble and doesn't seem to back down from that.

Getting banned from available platforms really does help stifle one's message, though. Milo Yiannapoulos learned that lesson the hard way.

Milo Y. is an odd case and was only really hurt when it came out he said something that his own base hated. Twitter banning him didn't hurt him really since there were other platforms. In fact it made him a martyr to a degree and there were conservatives that otherwise would have hated him that had to back him.

Time will tell if this is the same for those in question here. I suspect given what has made some of these youtube personalities popular to begin with, it will have little effect although I hope I'm wrong.

I think I agree. Going on some kind of grand online take down of all the bad elements of the community is never going to work. You can't just get rid of them.

No, but you can drive hate underground and make it social suicide for someone to engage in hateful behavior. We can't police people's thoughts (and nor should we even if we somehow could), but we can certainly police people's behavior. The less bigotry that gets represented and normalized within the community (such as by the community giving them a platform by ignoring them, allowing them to preach to the choir), the fewer bigots will feel empowered to do more of the same.

I WANT to agree with you, because that is how it should work. Except, I don't think it does.

If this is at the LGS and someone is acting like this, YES, you are 100% right.. because there is a limited audience and calling out bad behavior will either shut the person down causing them to be an outcast OR show you that that is a LGS you shouldn't go to anymore. Internet tho, well no press is bad Press. Controversy helps on the internet. Social suicide in social networks is literally causing people to ignore you. Jimmy Wong from the Command zone had the right idea with his post, he didn't even tag the person he felt was acting toxic.

Thoughts on running a Reality Shift in the SB to deal with the big bads that we don't want to return to a hand? Cards like Ulamog. Giving them the manifested card isn't great, but at least it brings the creature down into Spatial range.

Has anyone tried nimble obstructionist in mB or SB as one of?

I've added 1 to the MB and 1 to the SB to test. Every time it has been in my hand it has been useful. I ended up cutting 1 Remand in the MB. I had really like Squelch but it was too often sitting there waiting to be used IF the stars lined up. The 3/1 flyer at least provides a blocker that often trades if I need to buy time and they aren't working to kill my lands.
