Why is the Green one lacking an ability?
    It seems very bad.

    It has one: "Bigness" :p

Solid set of commons all around

Interesting. Cost reduction is always something I want more of in cube. I like him most in tempo decks, but 1 power isn't very attractive. I might test though since I'm always looking for new things in blue.

3 toughness in control decks is excellent however and that's where I see the card having the most impact. Card is good.

I agree with others that this is one of he strongest cards in the set for Cube. Expanse and Wilds still do good work in my Cubes and this is sometimes better!

This card looks pretty sweet to me. Flexible (ANY permenant) and it works for an extended period of time.

Until end of turn. Not as good? I like how you can switch to better targets, but steeling for one turn might not be as good.

    A) Its a red card. You were never going to get to steal a permenant forver.
    B) You can't switch permenants, it works on the same permenenat every turn
    C) It steals that same permenent EVERY one of your turns. That's kind of a huge deal :p

To be fair, the fact that Faerie Mechanist was an artifact did matter. But yeah, overall this new card is super sweet <3

Uh, when I read the card I could've sworn it was an Instant. I guess Natural State didn't get one-upped.

Natural State is a recent card that has to be feeling salty right now (if it were a living, sentient being of course :P)

The reason this doesn't hit sorceries is that per the wording of the card, it would be able to cast sorceries at instant speed. I can understand why that would give WOTC pause.

They really couldn't let this hit players too? Frown

Ceiling on this card is very, very high. It's a must-remove two drop. Fairly certain this will be a staple.

I don't think it's a must remove two drop at all. It adds no damage to the battlefield and can be easily blocked. No haste and no evasion makes him a poor play in the early game. You need to be going super wide for Grenzo to pay any dividends and even then the payoff may be non-existent. I would just rather play a better threat.

    Edit for English

To be fair, what you're saying here applies to most Red 1 drops ans 2 drops. Most of them don't have haste or evasion :p

You can argue that other creatures are better as purely pushing through damage though

How many cards in cube actually benefit from this? Wall got defender so I can't even attack with them

There ought to be way more, frankly. The overall P/T ratio rarely gets brought up when it comes to cube design, but it's an important aspect of limited that I think gets lost in the mix. Most limited environments have that ratio significantly weighted towards toughness; even "aggressive" formats like Zendikar and Gatecrash were slightly slanted towards toughness. In most cubes it's vastly slanted towards power; therefore everything just trades, and it makes combat boring and tokens way too powerful. This card seems like a great incentive for people to actually try to mix that ratio up, since starting every game with a virtual Glorious Anthem in play is disgustingly powerful.

The toughness vs power interplay comes up more in Pauper Cube design. In a Regular Cube, where sweepers and midrange creatures that can catch you up from behind are plentiful, its important the the aggressive creatures are VERY aggressive and there is less need for creatures that are old good for defense so that often means the power vs. toughness ratio gets slanted heavily towards power. I imagine most aggro decks would really suffer unless you made things like sweepers, good removal and good catch-up creatures very sparse.

This card is ridiculous. If you support the "draft matters" cards draft, it's pretty much an auto-include.

    Fixed that for you. Wink

When I tried some of the Conspiracy 1 draft matters cards in my Cube, my playgroup weren't big fans. I'm going to give it another shot but those cards are certainly not for every group.

But yeah, I agree with the thread consensus that this cards is bananas <3

I definitely think she is neat but I don't see her being strong enough for cube. Sure you can blink her to protect her but do you really just want to pay 4 mana and 2 life and not affect the board in any way? On turn four that feels REALLY bad. And if they only have one creature in play on turn 4 (assuming its not tnn or anything) do you want to play this or something thats just goong to take ovee thr game? I also saw someone suggest using it if you support the blink deck along with venser. This seems like the best option but I'm still not loving it.

Just to be clear, Kaya does affect the board because you can use her first ability on your opponent's creatures. I dunno if you will like the card but you should take a moment to read it more carefully.

My only issue with cutting Sublime for Gisela is that the former effectively has haste. For an aggressive deck, that kind of matters a lot. Not saying it isn't a logical swap but I still hesitate for that reason.

    strictly better ironclaw orcs.
this could also lead to red bears with upsides in the future. i believe in the powercreep.

but the powerlevel of the cards is really awkward anyway. look at Ishkanah, Grafwidow, if it wasnt a legends it could easily be a common as well and id probably wont run it in tier1

There's no reason for hyperbole. 5 mana for up to 6/11 worth of power over 4 bodies with a mana sink attached may not crack standard or rare cubes but is crazy good in most limited formats.
