This is the first Masterpiece card I've ever handled so I'm not sure what to look for. The card color seems kind of dull and when I look at the card under a jeweler's loupe I don't see the normal ink patterns I'm use to. It has the holofoil stamp but I notice its been peeled a bit. Appreciate if someone would let me know if this looks legit. Thanks!
Thanks Colt47! I didn't realize newer sets had this issue, I always thought it was only in older sets. I only buy singles so I never realize Eldritch Moon had this problem. Thanks for putting my mind at ease.
I'm not sure if it shows up well in the picture but I recently bought 4 Collective Brutality through tcgplayer from 3 different vendors and when I received them I notice one of them seem to have a noticeably darker background for the card name and card type box area (the card on the right in the picture) than the other 3. This threw up some red flags for me so I did the light test on the card and it seemed to pass it fine, at least to me (pictures posted). However, when I looked at the card under a jeweler's loupe the ink pattern was noticeably different between the 1 card and the other 3. The 3 lighter cards had dots that align diagonally and run pretty straight while the darker card had a diamond shape pattern with a dot in the middle that's sort of jumbled.
I know older sets can have color variation but Eldritch Moon is a pretty recent set and the card has the holofoil on it. What do you guys think? Is it a fake? Have counterfeiters found a way to fake cards with holofoils or is this just inconsistent printing by Wizards of the Coast?
Black Lotus to start off.
