I think this a great card. This does a lot for 3 mana - pumps, protects, and is a mana sink. TBH, my gut instinct is that this is now the best GW card for cube - though I also think GW has by far the worst cards right now so that's not saying much.
Anyone have more testing results from this? It seems like it was underestimated in Constructed and I'm wondering if that's the case with Cube too. Its now one of the top 10 most played cards in Pioneer and I've heard its basically game over if chapter III isn't immediately killed.
Always enjoy reading your reviews and thanks for another. Have you considered adding the Commander cards to your reviews now that every set has accompanying Commander decks? We've been getting some nice cards from them lately and its kinda a bummer that they don't get reviewed (*cough* Swift Reconfiguration *cough*).
This is only slightly better than Quench so hard pass for me. Blue isn't exactly known for having a bunch of extra creatures around to sac. I don't even have room for Jwari Disruption or Censor which I like more.
So basically an instant speed Pacifism for one mana since Crew 5 might as well be a million in many situations. I like it though it has a lot of competition with Portable Hole and Prismatic Ending.
I'm not as high on this card as others. I'd rather have all the recursive black two drops over this since they also support Aristocrats. Cards that only go in black aggro tend to be perennial last picks in my experience.
I like Den of the Bugbear and Shatterskull Smashing a lot more and I don't think most cubes have room for three red utility lands. Even if those two didn't exist I wouldn't be excited since the rate is quite bad unless you have a legendary creature.
The problem is likely the price ... Likely well over 60$ on release.
Gee shucks, I always forget about that. I probably won't be playing these lands after all.
It's basically impossible for a rare in a Standard set to be $60. Almost all the value in Standard sets these days is taken up by alt art chase Mythics and even those rarely hit that mark. The full art version might get over $10 but the regular version should be pretty cheap.
I run an unpowered fair-ish cube - no Griselbrands or Urzas Sagas here. So I don't think it's going to pull it's weight.
