Hello everyone, I'm a huge fan of the fast and the furious franchise and ever since I saw vehicles for the first time, an idea has been brewing inside my mind for quite some time.

I'm gonna make a fast and the furious deck using vehicles and creatures that ressemble characters in those movies!
The creatures must be 1-ofs in order to make each character feel unique (remember we're going for maximum fun value here) and there's no color restriction, 5-color all the way!

Of course being that there are a gazillion creatures out there and my mind is very limited, I'm looking for people to tell me "this creature card would be great for Dom!" of course we're gonna be looking at either 1) ressemblance through the art 2) ressemblance through the feel of the card (abilities and/or colors) that relate to that specific character's personality or overall funkiness and "fun factor" (we don't want to be too picky)

So we are looking at (don't limit your suggestions with these colors, these are my choices for what would better fit their personalities):

Dom (Probably red, maybe a bit of black)
    Brian (White? or White-red-green)
    Letty (Red, red-green)
    Mia Toretto (White-blue-green)
Luke Hobes (Straight up beefy green creature? Maybe white-green)
Roman Pearce (Black-blue? he's pretty mischievous)
    Tej Parker (White-blue no doubt)
    Gisele Yashar (Probably blue)
Han Seoul-Oh (we've gotta have Han, probably White or White-black)
Elena Neves (Hmmm I would say Green.)
    Deckard Shaw (Black-Red)
    Sean Boswell (Red-Green or Red)
    Ramsey (Green-blue)

And let me know if I'm missing anyone! Anyways suggest away! Grin

It's sad to be playing magic in these days where a 6/6 flying trampler, that makes your guys cheaper, is considered to be not that good.
I like this card, and I obviously think it's strong but as everyone has pointed out, in the modern days of Magic, it's probably not constructed-worthy as much as I want him to be!

Wow... that guy was really butthurt about magic players :p But to be fair there are some pretty rude magic players out there, like in anything competitive.

I'm dissapointed in the card itself. Don't get me wrong, it's a good card, but it doesn't give me that 'wow' factor.

  • posted a message on [[RTR]] DailyMTG Previews 9/10: Trostani, Rakdos Guildmage, Chaos Imps & Nivmagus Elemental
Nivmagus Elemental: Hmm. Mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, it has the potential to go nuts with Replicate, Storm, or some other synergy it has. On the other, it may be too little of a bonus and to harsh of a drawback. For instance, lets say you play a replicate spell, or something with storm and give him a lot of +1/+1 counters, your opponent just kills it with one of the several removal spells in both modern or standard and you just got 2 for 1'ned or maybe even more, and you've just wasted a turn, cards, and tapped out to do nothing. I'm not sure this card is constructed playable with such a drawback(But I wouldn't disregard it as unplayable either). Time will tell.

Rix Maadi Guildmage: Wow... again I'm sad that Rakdos is getting screwed repeatedly this set. Such an amazing art as well, and to be wasted on such a card. The abilities are too conditional and too weak to matter, maybe for limited, but even there often times it will be a bear who will ocassionaly ping your opponent. Compared to the other Guildmages, this one is a joke.

Trostani, Selesnya's Voice: Good card, nothing overpowered. But in the right deck this could be very good, I just don't see it being played in constructed formats.

Chaos Imps: The nuts in limited, the bomb of bombs. Not constructed worthy obviously, but I am surely loving the flavor of it.

So, the distant cousin of Abyssal Persecutor. It's a really solid card, it seems to be constructed playable, we'll see if it makes it into any decks.
The fact that it gives your opponent a choice is his drawback, but even with his drawback, if it's not the other player swinging for the win, it actually makes the choice very hard for your opponent.

Limited fodder. A good combat trick, kill one of their guys and then swing, the +1 thoughness bonus is pretty important in Limited, to make it block 3/X creatures and have it survive so you can swing after.

Waste of a good name. Still a fine card, just doesnt fit with the name.

    This.
I totally agree. The name is just so wrong... and the art doesn't seem to really fit either.
The card itself is pretty good. Although I'm still waiting for that 'wow' factor in Rakdos cards Slant

On another note, Dead Reveler's flavor text is just ugh... Rakdos is filled with these silly puns, once or twice it was fun, but now even though they gave Rakdos the worst mechanic of the set, they also gave them the worst flavor texts!

Im loving Vraska, I think she's very flavorful. Don't know if she will be constructed playable, but definitly a fun card to play with.
Azorius Justicar will win a lot of limited matches.
And Dead Reveler is just meh. Slightly better than average for limited. But another boring card with unleash. And man I'm feeling the Rakdos are getting screwed with the cards they're getting so far, we'll see with the rest of the set, hopefully it gets better.

Yep, it seems highly unlikely that Kiora is the new planeswalker in this set.

    1) Maro said the new planeswalker was a female. (Kiora is a female too)
    2) But Maro also said that the new planeswalker appeared in the RtR trailer. (Probably the Gorgon, since it's the only art that appears to be planeswalker-esque)
    3) In the Serious Fun article in wich the Kiora Atua decklist is shown, it's clearly stated that it's the DotP 2012 decklist with slight changes. And also at the end of the article he says "Join me next week when I overload on the awesome. See you then!" (And it's clear that the card he'll preview that is in Kiora's deck is his Next Week's Preview wich is a card with Overload)
    4) Jace is blue, another planeswalker with U in the manacost? Dont think so. (Although it's already been stated that Wizards doesn't care about balancing colors, THERE IS some very loose color balancing in PWs.)
    5) Kiora would belong in Gatecrash rather than in RtR. Since she's Simic colors, and would probably be there for story purposes.

I think it's pretty safe to say the Gorgon will be the new planeswalker.

Well that sure as hell is strange. Specially because Maro said the female planeswalker in RtR appeared in the magic RtR trailer... >_>
Maybe the art wasn't used at all? Or maybe the card in the deck is not Kiora herself but some spell of hers? Intriguing...

Big fatty is big. Nice card overall but not so fun to me at least. The enchantment seems balanced, it's gonna see a lot of casual play.
And finally, Dryad Militant... wow... speechless, prepare to see a lot of this guy in constructed, hoses a lot of strategies (and our friendly neighbor Snapcaster Mage) This seems a little harsh, specially at that cost(also really easy to cast), with that ability and that body. Being a Izzet lover myself I'll probably hate this guy when he's looking at me from the other side of the table.

Weird that Isperia seems to have anti-synergy with Detain.
Anyways I'm loving the spoilers, Niv-Mizzet is awesome! I like him very much, and Death Presence seems good for casual tables :p
