People saying there are tons of answers to planeswalkers:
Planeswalkers make you discard those answers.
Planeswalkers make you sacrifice, destroy, bounce or otherwise remove the creatures that could remove them.
Planeswalkers being removed by counterspells is a bit of a nonanswer, as counterspells answer everything and are, in and of themsvelves, a very, very broken mechanic.
They are strong and yes, that strength can be quite meta-dependent but you need to deal with them right away, and if you do so, you are using an answer that cannot be sent to another permanent (your bolt can't hit a creature). It's too much. They have needed a Null Rod for 'walkers forever. It should have been done almost immediately after the Planeswalker card type occurred, but they just let them gain more and more power and traction. This costs 6 so it's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully they hinder 'walkers more in the future, it's needed and warranted.

well this is still going to be a new edh staple
any deck with 0-2 planeswalkers will put it in by default
my O-kagachi spirit tribal has 0 so it could go in that for my cast.
This, so much this. It's going into my Jori En deck and Sigarda deck Right. This. Moment. The abilities feel mashed together, but this is basically a buffer of EDH staples. Love it. More brutal, punitive-on-gameplay cards please Wizards.

Also, I guess Tetzimoc means there's a full cycle of Elder Dinosaurs! Holla!
The Immmortal Sun is just the sun, I think. You're seeing it through a kind of window or mural of some sort, with the sunlight streaming in.
I'm overjoyed they finally made a Null Rod for Planeswalkers, it is long, long overdue. That we get a bunch of other bonus stuff is just gravy.
Good work on this, Wizards.
Nov 16, 2017Man am I going to be an annoying prat with this card.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
"Ooooh Ben, remember that time you didn't Withering Boon Mina & Denn? I think I'll just give this good creature to your opponent."
(Waits to see any latecomers)
"Hey cool to see you, X! Have this 2/2 or 3/3 to start your game!"
"Oh, Y, did you need a blocker this turn? Awesome! Enjoy!"
Hahahahahahaha the griefing potential is SO GOOD.

He went there. Slowly, but he got there.
Also, hilarious card and flavorfully rendered, loving this set right now.
Nov 15, 2017Edgar was much better than Arahbo, it just constantly gave gas and had access to the best removal and good draw and tutors too.Posted in: 1 vs 1 Duel Commander (French)
I'll look at Asimov's list and see if I can tweak mine, but I think my list was too slow with too many two or more drops, I really need to get the game over by turn 3-4 at max before control stabilizes. Our meta is really, really, removal/control heavy at the moment )Prossh is dominating, and then Kess, Kess, Pope, the UR God, the esper and boros partners, which made me switch to Sigarda with some success.
Meta is sooooooooooo grindy midgame right now, ugh.
Arahbo is fine, if he were GB or GBW he would probably be nuts though.
Nov 15, 2017Our small group here in Ottawa has a player that uses Strategy Schmategy, Goblin Tutor, Checks and Balances, Jalum Grifter and a few others.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
We're now using Wishboards (10 cards) because some of us felt like trying them out.
We'll be using Spike kand Watermarket as well.
It's just a short-time thing and we'll go back to regular play rules in a bit.
Nov 15, 2017Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from SupahTofu »I'm thinking of surprising my friends with a booster box each of this set as well as one for myself (3 in all) since we've been out of magic since Kaladesh, but I don't know if that's a little overboard. I haven't been paying attention too much to value or whatever but we never played the un- series before. Should I just buy two and split them among the three of us or is it justified to get three?
The basic lands will be $1 or $2, the foil basics will probably start at $5 and go way up over time. There are a bunch of fun cards that people will use in their casual or Commander decks, and I'm sure the Crow Storm will be another Grixmas meme at the MTGCommander.net forums for the holidays. So I would probably get two boxes, split. If you guys like drafting the set or fooling around with it, go nuts and get a third. Otherwise just enjoy what you received.

My gut tells me this card is actually secretly nuttity nuts in limited. Have you seen how many cards are artifacts/make contraptions so far?Quote from Gutterstorm »I'm usually not the one to do this but... Rare? This cat is easily uncommon. A strong uncommon but certainly a disappointing rare.
This....the knight will become super huge in short order with all the contraptions and such floating around, and it doesn't look like there are a lot of Shock or Bolt variants to offset that, since this is a casual set. It's fine at Rare, a little disappointing if you want a chase rare, but that's the pack experience for you.

Nov 14, 2017Crazy Pierre posted a message on The Grand Calcutron - RoboRosewater Twitter spoilerYeah, the card doesn't explicitly say you can't reorganize cards in your hand, but it implies it. I am going to reorganize cards in response to this, or just might concede basically in draft, as I don't want the game to control how i organize cards in my hand. This isn't fun.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Edit: Does this even do anything? Once you play the first card, the second card becomes the first card, then you go up to five cards. Weird stuff.
