Heartbreaking.
This is simply the only place I come for any sort of Magic information, so I'm not quite sure I'll even be paying attention to Magic as much anymore after close.
Truly sorry to see this go. It is, indeed, the end of an era.

May 1, 2018Crazy Pierre posted a message on All Sets Are Good: LegendsWell, people saying Legends is a bad set...it's not really playable in limited or sealed. A lot of the creatures are very expensive to play. When your best limited beater is Thunder Spirit at 1WW and that's a rare card, yikes.Posted in: Articles
I do have a casual Jasmine Boreal deck that's based on destroying evil, peace prevailing, nature and the odd Shuriken, because I had thought for a long time she held a shuriken in her hand, whereas someone pointed out that she's holding a snowflake. Cards such as Fyndhorn Pollen, Northern Paladin, Southern Paladin, Penatarch Paladin, Cleanse, Shuriken, the meld Gisela and Bruna and so on. YOu get the idea, it's not very good but it's fun!
Legends is one of my fave all-time sets, but I always sucked at pack wars. My best card an Elder Land wurm and his? A Mana Drain lol...

With creatures getting more and more aggressive, and Commanders having extra value all the time, maybe it's time to let Humility (and/or Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale) out of the penalty box for a bit?
Consider that the card will not stop Eminence triggers or the Partner mechanic (though it will obviate the partners on the battlefield, to be certain), and that discard spells are aggressively costed to stop it from being played. As well, it does cost four mana, which means the game could be toward the end when you're able to play it, or you could be at a fairly low life total as well.
Additionally, it leaves your opponents with a field of 1/1 creatures to chip away. Yes, that also means your opponent's creatures in hand become very overcosted 1/1s that will likely not be enough (in the long run) if a sweeper follows up the Humility.
An additional benefit would be to just edge the game toward a bit more "spell magic", to combat it, and perhaps give Control a little more help to slow down aggressive strategies. Maybe we see the re-entrance of a "good stuff" Planeswalker deck of some sort, or a few grindier decks. Maybe this opens up a combo deck using enchantments, artifacts, planeswalkers that got pushed out.
As it is, having various creatures banned as Commanders and "exits" such as Polymorph as well is tilting the field a bit much toward first aggro, then "aggro-resilience" such as Markov, who gives you a ton of gas. Even Arahbo isn't too bad, but Arahbo, Zurgo, Markov, etc. all clogging things up is getting a bit much. Maybe a shift where we have a few good aggro decks, some control (avec ou sans Humility) and maybe a combo enabler or two might be good? I am just spitballing here, but it's getting hot in the kitchens of Duel Commander players, maybe give us some gauze to allay the burns?
Good functionality as well, so pure win all around!
Yeah, Sword is pretty much unplayable outside Commander, and casual Commander at that. I can't see anyone wanting to pay $200+ for that thing, cool as it is with its pseudo-Strombringer references, although it can compete with Runesword on that field! I'm sure I'll be able to trade for it off some friends at a reasonable price, geez.
This is the way I am heading as well. I am including Waiting in the Weeds as my meta isn't very green-ish (one Rhonas player and one multi-deck player) so they should never get anything. More 1/1 Cats get pumped by Arah's second ability, and they can be clamped away, to draw into more cats.
I am considering running Brimaz as well, as he's a beast, and maybe even sneaking in a Winter Orb or something. Or perhaps Concordant Crossroads. Yes, it will help my opponent but If I can go turn 1 Cat, turn 2 CC, Cat, attack attack, then drop a Winter Orb or whatnot, things will get spicy.
For equips, probably not much outside Jitte, Skullclamp, Bonesplitter variants (the self-replicating Bonesplitter looks sauncy) and that's about where I am right now. Also considering some janky lands like Heart of Yavimaya and that one that sacs to Giant Growth if you have threshold, not sure though.
Very nice seeing Lightning Greaves back as well, it was getting up there in price for a casual card. Plow and Go for the Throat are nice additions to the Vampire deck. Overall Wizards did a good job with these, good variety of cards with some value thrown in. A+.
You can Entomb in Jund, I'd guess. Very sweet card, love that the spells keep piling on as the little guy keeps chugging along.
Yes, this is a very fun card.
There are three foil Commanders per deck aren't there? (Oh, new commanders I believe.) I'll amend my post on this right away, to remove any confusion.
Nice to see her again!

Whee, needed reprint!
(Removed allusion to foil version due to misunderstanding.)
Yes, it's a new copy so you can just re-use stuff right? Not like DEN was dumb to begin with, but with a cheaper flicker...
