I feel the one ring was a good way of using the flavour associated with the one ring. I don't know how else they could do serialized 1/1 cards without it being pretty absurd
I feel this chnge makes people feel better about investing in standard staples that don't see play anywhere else, as they can play them longer. I'm interested to see if they'll be more aggressive with banning problematic cards.
I was having a conversation with friends a few months ago how I wish they'd have a rotating format that didn't rotate as fast as standard but I guess changing standard could be fun too
I know some D&D players that aren't happy about this choice and were talking about just not supporting WotC anymore but I guess we'll see where this goes. I guess a good thing about TTRPGs is you can play whatever version you like and don't need to keep up with the newest release
I feel that commander players as a whole would rather just play with their playgroups, rather than play in something more organized. By sticking to their own playgroups, they know what power level to expect and can tailor their experience to that. Commander is also a pretty casual format, so in my opinion organized tournaments at a store kinda go against the casual nature of commander
I don't think we've really gotten any information really in regards to when Magicfests will be returning. Right now all we really have for Magicfests are Commandfests and Regional Championships. I don't know what Regional Championships are for Americans but the one we had last month in Toronto, Canada had around 1000 people attending between the main event and the sides across 3 days. I believe Magicfests had 2000+ before covid put an end to those.
I'd like to see at least an announcement when they'll be returning. I understand that the logistics behind planning them probably takes a while, so I don't expect to get them back soon
I think twin and maybe even pod would be fine in the format. I'd like to see evoke eratta'd so the elementals can't be abused with blink effects. I'd like to see either a W6 or Omnath ban. I feel that's a lot so not expecting all of it to happen
I'll check next time I'm in walmart but pretty sure I saw it at Toys'R'Us.
I've heard issues with people stealing from walmart and fights breaking out over product there. I know there's a facebook group in my area dedicated to posting when restocks happen for card games and sports cards
