5-0 mtgo league yesterday. Deck felt great against any decks susceptible to Goblin Chainwhirler. Goblin Chainwhirler is the truth in so many occassions. I plan on playing this in the ptq this weekend.
It seems that every white deck on mtgo is running Lyra main/side so I believe the best answer to that is Puncturing Blow as it doubles against Scarab God.
I'd like to improve my control match up, any suggestions of additional cards? The Kari Expertise in the side is for Galta, but could be replaced to improve the control match up. Thanks!
I went 3-1 at FNM after modifying this deck. Lost to RG Monsters (Dinos?). He slammed me with 3 Glorybringers in the third game...not much you can do about that. This is my list:
EDIT: This post is referring to the 5-0 decklist Nevelo posted. Not sure why it didn't quote the post.
Made a few changes to this for FNM, 3-1. Took the Daredevil out of the main, cut a Hazoret and a Firebrand for 3 Soul-Scar Mage. Also cut a Dunes for just another plains. My one loss was to some obnoxious grixis build (it was removal + 1 torrential gearhulk), though I was viciously land screwed. In fact, I had to mulligan quite a bit due to a single land in the opener. Thinking of adding another land and going up to the fourth Mage, he's just too cool with Mettle.
Also thinking of turning the Glorybringers to Phoenixes, maybe? Five is just steep. Three Daredevils in the side overperformed against monoblack. Hit a push or plank every time I cast one. Not sure about Raptors yet, so I might try this creature set:
Path to Mettle is absolutely nuts. Had my monoblack opponent sitting on a Scrapheap Scrounger and an Aethersphere Harvester. Good luck attacking me! Closed at least two games by activating Metzali for 2 damage, play another Mettle, flip on attacks and immediately activate it for another 2.
My true dream is big red with Immortal Sun, but this'll do for now.
Almost considered ornithopter. Cartouche seems good but maybe I just want built to smash? Also am I correct that Flameblade gets a huge buff if you crack a Bomat mid-combat?
Bigger to use Glorybringer, He of the Croco-Snout:
I really wanted to play Kari. But supporting her warps the deck, as you can see, and pulls it in too many directions. I kept trying to build it mono, but then you realize that other than Kari, red's got absolutely no 2-drops.
Hey reddies. Posted this deck in the RW vehicles thread since I didn't really go with the madness package, but it's sort of halfway between this deck and that. Figured it might help. It's worth nothing that while I went 4-0-1 (0 games dropped) I didn't play against anything with a lot of sweepers. I assume they'll be harder for me.
Hey guyses, went 4-0-1 with this last night, without dropping a game. Not as dedicated to vehicles as most of the lists in this thread, but I wasn't sure where else to post. Really wanted to focus on the synergy between Trinketeer and Pia, along with the Servo Exhibitions.
I think Bomat is better than I gave him credit for and may try to squeeze in a third. Also considering swapping Flows for Fiery Temper, though there's a lot of Gisela in my shop and it's nice to exile her.
Authority overperforms, I'll be going up to 3. Excellent synergy with Nahiri. Their bomb enters tapped and is immediately ready for exile. I should probably get Declarations in there as well.
Hope the deck is useful to someone. I normally run mono-red so I may have the wrong balance of basics, if anyone wants to correct me.
while i was thinking of replacements, the loss of Abbot of Keral Keep and Exquisite Firecraft hit me hard. Abbot was a great means to get back in the game when you're behind. the loss of Exquisite Firecraft potentially can be devastating, as the deck loses a mainboard way to deal with Gideon and other 4 loyalty walkers. just about as significantly, the only way to cleanly kill Kalitas and Archangel Avacyn mainboard post rotation will be Collective Defiance. also, Roast and Rending Volley will rotate out so the sideboard also got a bit worse against Kalitas and Avacyn repectively.
perhaps splashing another color is the key to more reliable removal and more variety of threats?
brew # 2 - because green is the best color in Standard.
i've been able to win games with no one drop creature in my opening hand with my RDW so this aggro deck that relies heavily on 2 CMC creatures may actually be viable. following the philosophy i developed recently - putting a total of 4 to 5 power threats on the board ASAP - this is a deck i would be happy to play if nothing oppressive *cough* Bant Coco *cough* pops up.
*R/b brew to follow*
Borderland Marauder isn't standard legal. It was in M15 which hasn't been in standard for a while and Eternal Masters doesn't add cards to standard.
It's in the Welcome 2016 decks. As is Shivan Dragon, if anyone's feeling froggy.
Might want to adjust your tone if you want to be that wrong, in the future.
Edit: no need for me to be douchey, sorry. Leaving it so this edit's not confusing.
Would a 3-3 split on Firecraft/Defiance be better? I like Defiance's versatility but Firecraft's better at closing the game or eliminating a Planeswalker. That may just be my personal preference.
In my experience it's usually an ass kicking one way or another. I lost to it in semis on Saturday's Game Day. He had the CoCo or Queller for everything while I dropped mountains and Neonates. It turns into a nightmare when Advocate comes online with the sixth land and you're actually forced to block.
But it can just as easily go the other way where you stick two creatures and Rending Volley/Fiery Impulse everything they try to put in your way. When I was on the Dragons package I found that getting them to around 10 and then sticking Thunderbreaks really sealed it. If they target it with anything they're now in range of Firecraft + Flow.
I feel a bit guilty about Sunday's Game Day win. My store sells pre-constructed standard decks, sleeved and in a box, for newer players. My buddy's the manager and took my winning list and is now selling it for $40 with the label "designed by Action Andy." Except, y'know, I took almost the entire list from watchmytopdecks. I thought he just wanted me to show him the list because he wanted to play it...
I love Skin Invasion as a card, and it's solid sweeper insurance. I really think you're missing out on the Sanitarium, it got me out of tight spots. Another madness outlet for their end step, and if you ever force your opponent to top deck (as I did against UR spells), it just mills them 1 while giving you card selection or madnessing out another dude they need to solve.
I played G/b delirium twice (same player) along with r/w equip aggro. I honestly can't remember what the other decks were even trying to do it was over so quick. Any thoughts?
I just ****in smashed Game Day with this, 6-0.
Changes I made:
2 Mountains out, 2 Sanitariums in. Card was an all-star every single game I drew it.
Galvanic Bombardment became 3 Fiery Impulse, and one Bloodseeker came out to add in 2 Tormenting Voice. Allowed me to keep some shaky hands.
SB was 4 Rending Volley, 3 Sin Prodder, 3 Goldnight Castigator, 3 Exquisite Firecraft, 1 Roast, 1 Magmatic Chasm.
Rending Volleys didn't come in all day, didn't play against a single Bant player.
I'm considering Otherworldly Outburst as languish/Kozilek's Return insurance. Also considered Stensia Masquerade as a 2-of in the side--it seems like it would wreck any creature matchup.
Play of the day was against a UR player who durdled the first 3 turns. Turn one Gorger. Turn two Furyblade, swing 2. Turn three go to combat, madness out Youths, swing 10. Have fun being at 8 on turn 3.

No black in these decks so hopefully you don't shun me..
