The T-Rex is asleep. The opponent attacks and aims for the sleeping dinosaur instead of going around it? They aren't that big. They don't form a massive wall across the battlefield. But, OK. The T-Rex has now done battle. He sees things to eat. And he goes back to sleep. Then, you play a Serra Angel and the T-Rex instantly awakens and goes rampaging across the battlefield in an attempt to eat the Benalish Hero he saw just prior to taking a nap.
This card would make more sense if it lost Defender after blocking or after its' owner took combat damage or something like that.
