Great card!

Goddamn. That's a pretty hefty downside, but I guess that's the price you pay for something as powerful as a 3-mana Day of Judgment. Solid card.

Good by itself in Standard. Better with Aetherworks Marvel, As Foretold, and/or planeswalkers.

Excellent card. Probably won't make it into the older formats thanks to Toxic Deluge but Standard/Modern? I can certainly see it.

That drawback is immense. I guess the idea is that you can jam a threat and wipe the board on the same turn with this one. I'm not sure it's worth it compared to the 4cmc wrath variants. Standard might not get a lot to choose from, so I could see someone running this there, but that drawback hurts.

Not as much as it might seem, there's a lot of interplay with black and other colors right now and as i recall, between kaladesh and amonkhet every color has at least 1 creature that's indestructible.
among other responses, you could rely on that or even bounce something till end of turn and wipe the field, leaving you with a creature.
not to mention the fact that its just lands tapped, if this tapped all of your lands, that'd be one thing, but unless things have really gone upside down, you'd probably be using this as a last resort later in the game when 3 mana isn't that huge of a loss.

So it has a CMC 3, but it actually costs 3+ the number of lands you control, since you're either not spending that mana this turn or next turn. Will need a really niche meta to see play where there's a tier 1 deck that cannot reload the board after a wrath. So no planeswalkers and no vehicles.

ahh yes u r right. unless u have a few untapped lands for instant speed spell, or ability that u activate on opp's. turn. Then u would have to factor in those abilities as part of the cost. And if u have any nonland mana suppliers.

I don't care about the drawback, getting to sweep the board on turn 3 can be very good against some decks. when fighting Affinity, Stompy or Elf, casting a board wipe on turn 3 instead of turn 4 could be the difference between life and death.

I will certainly consider this card when I look at black boardwipes from now on.

Seems like a decent black boardwhipe, but the "lands you control don't untap during your next untap step" seems like a big price to pay. In my eyes, Damnation seems like the way to go.

Would be good in limited, not much else tho.

I think despite the text here, this is actually Bontu fighting for Amonkhet and the Gatewatch against Bolas' Eternalized Zombie Apocalypse. Bontu probably feels particularly betrayed being initially maybe the most loyal of the God-Pharoah's subjects. Possibly Bontu knew the name Nicol Bolas but didn't know what the Hour of Devastation would completely entail. Hazoret is certainly going to switch sides to good, and probably Kefnet too, because Kefnet got hurt the last time Bolas arrived to devastate Amonkhet.

Oketra ''the True'' is likely also a good God. Bolas is bringing Three New Gods with him though, so I think he's planning for 3 Gods to betray him.



Hazoret, Kefnet, and Oketra are three, but one of them could be Really Evil, leaving either Bontu or Rhonas to have a surprising change of heart.


Well, that's how I'd play it if I were the storytellers. I guess we will see.

I personally think it will be Oketra, Hazoret and Rhonas. Why? Cus Naya is Bolas's biggest enemy colors. I hope to see an Ajani PW in this set. I personally think that Bontu feels really betrayed and just wants everything to die.
