When you encounter Chaotic Aether, each blank roll of the planar die is a CHAOS roll until a player planeswalks away from a plane. (Then planeswalk away from this phenomenon.)

Card Rulings

6/1/2012 While Chaotic Aether’s effect applies, rolling any blank face of the planar die will cause chaos abilities to trigger.
6/1/2012 Planeswalking away from a phenomenon (as you do when resolving Chaotic Aether’s ability) doesn’t cause Chaotic Aether’s effect to expire.
