Ok this definitely puts esper on the map as a new control combination. Although i can imagine Jeskai staying better because it can cast absorb much easier and has crackling drake.

Absorb should be just as easy to cast in Esper... unless you’re counting Electrodominance hax. I think it’s a toss-up between Jeskai and Esper tbh. Black opens up doors of its own...

I'm inclined to agree. Deafening Clarion is still really important to the Control archetype since it comes down on T3, bu this isn't a bad option at all. Moment of Craving and a good 3 drop Afterlife creature make this Wrath pretty attractive from a Control standpoint.

But, finally there's a clean, Hard Wrath effect at 4 mana. Too bad they didn't reprint the Signets...

For the amount of colored mana this asks for, you'd expect this to have a stronger effect than something simple like Fumigate, but maybe the thing that makes this special is supposed to be a general refusal to print 4-mana wrath effects into standard without rediculous drawbacks like this mana cost. Well, mana is going to be good in Standard, but there will still be times you just can't cast this on time in your 3/4 color decks.

This is not true. Jeskai is more blue centered and plays islands as basics. Esper with this card would be more white centered playing plains. This card and absorb together is quite hard reliably.

You’re thinking of the current standard. These builds are subject to change. Even in the current meta, pre Allegiance, there’s plenty of incentive to lean heavily into blue if you’re playing Esper. I agree though, it’ll be hard to play both this and Absorb mainboard.
