It hates flying. Green can do whatever the hell it wants as long as it hates flying. I personally disagree with this interpretation, but design has it.
Based on the flavor text, I think their attempt at storytelling caused a poor color choice.
The druid could bury the Eternal in tendrils, but couldn't crack the plating. So, it couldn't do the usual green thing and destroy the Flying creature. Best it could do was delay it for awhile.
