First off....Happy 1 and 1/4 birthday to the Coffeehouse!
@Stuff: That's amazing that you are getting a chance to live your dream and I really hope that you do get that job in Japan. It really couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Also, nice AotW. The original movie is a classic and I hope that this lives up to it.
@Tanthalas: I'm sorry your good mood went down the toilet. I hate it when simple things like being hungry can ruin the best of days.
@Psychoburner: Happy Birthday! How old are you now? 50? 60?
Last night my girlfriend and I had a conversation about how we see the world and how it has affected our lives. And it is weird to meet a 16 year old who isn't still a kid inside or a dreamer. She was brought up in a tradtional Russian household, becuase thats where her parents are from, both of them. And it just really strikes me as odd that parents would rather have their kids be responsible and serious rather than, well kids. After spending so much time in therapy myself I tried the best I could to play therapist with her and try and tell her that this is why she has been unhappy for the past few months, which she has. She says that I am the only thing that is making her happy right now and that she is really upset, not like suicide upset, but still. It was something disheartening. =/ But you know what guys and girls? I feel like me trying to help her out has made our relationship stronger.
Well, for the last half an hour it's been so dark here that it feels like the evening, and now it's raining ridiculously hard. Just as it heads towards lunchtime. And I'm starving - a combination of soup for dinner last night, no breakfast, and someone bringing a bacon sandwich into the office earlier.
Last night's good mood hasn't lasted long. Maybe some Facebook-based flirting with someone will cheer me up... (no, not you, Alacar, you've made your stance on waitress-position-based flirting quite clear).
Yeah i think only having a soup and a sandwhich would make me starve later on since i eat more then that usually.
First off....Happy 1 and 1/4 birthday to the Coffeehouse!

Well I'm off to shower before work.
Well thats great that you make her very happy and congrats on making your relationship alot stronger! Yeah having their parents treat their kids like they need to grow up faster mentally is probably a good thing because life can be tough even for those happier people in the world.
Well so far im 1-2 in the mws tournament for legacy. I still have two more rounds so if i win them both hopefully i can get back into the noticable standing range. I probably shouldve tested the 3 color landstill deck more thouroughly because getting single handly killed by the crucible + wasteland combo was hurting me like nobodies business. Also from the lack of sleep and working long hours at work i made the major play mistake of playing a standstill when my opponent had a couple of artifacts in play a crucible in the grave and also having goblin welder in play. Oh well if i can get 3-2 that would be good but i probably shouldve played my uw landstill instead since its my signature contol like deck afterall or playing faerie stompy wouldve been way better too then playing wub landstill or even playing funkbrew wouldve been awesome too.
Well im going to get ready for work soon my 4.5 hour shift today isnt going to be too bad I think its going to be easy. Ill talk to you all soon though. *hugs and blows kisses to everyone* Have a great day everyone and take cares!

@Omna: Well, I am a writer too, but... I didn't know there was a righter named Uriel Coleridge. I'd love to read some his stuff... if youcould send me a link or whatever, I'd really appreciate it. And thanks for the heads up on the Coca Cola... I should decline the offer for now, though... I'm a bit of an adict..:p
@Ninja Pirate: I've found it from personal experience that helping your partner in a relationship makes it stronger, so long as: A) The relationship doesn't revolve around the other person "needing" you and B) The strain (its not exactly easy) doesn't start dragging you down too. I'm glad your relationship is growing stronger.
@BuzzDX: I find it hard to sleep when I'm angry or worried, but I usually give in after I've stared at the feeling for long enough while listening to mellow music. I also find that when I wake I'm much calmer, even if I'm still pissed.
Is anyone going to FNM today? I hope the store's open, as today happens to be Independence Day here, so it's a bit of a holiday. I tried making my deck standard recently, but found that it turned out too slow to actually compete in the FNM.
As a sidenote, I can hardly wait for the 23rd. My girlfriend's coming back home from her vacation, and it's been about a month without seeing her. It also happens to be the day we'd have been together for 10 months AND it's the birthday of one of my best friends. I'll be packed, but... it'll give me an end to the boredom.
"All these people having fun are playing for a gigantic 40000$ award, while I'm here sweating, players asking me stupid layer questions we all hate, and I'm thirsty.
@NinjaPirate: Time to go out and do some Kid Stuff, amirite? Let her know it's all right to enjoy doing things to relax and be entertained.
@Uriel hope your store is out showing its colors...with a FNM. That depends though, if there's noisy fanfare and dancing in the streets, the shopkeep might decide to take the day off.
Good morning folks! Only a couple most(wow, more i meant) posts before 1700! I'll go back and pretend to be asleep
(Or just go get some coffee and breakfast...I'm hungry and I need to wake up...)
EDIT: I just made myself some eggs, mini-bagels and coffee for breakfast... (and it was actually my first time really making my own eggs... I've made scrambled before but today I made over-medium... whee! So proud o' myself hehehhe) Anywayyyyyy! I feel nice and alert now! w00t! Caffeinated coffee, two spoonfuls of sugar and Coffeemate will do that to you!
Ok now to go to the bathroom, turn the light on, put my glasses on and get ready to CRANK on my thesis!! Do me a favor folks, post until the 1700th post, so i have no real excuse to check back in here
Oh, and P.S. to Uriel Coleridge... there isn't a guy named URIEL Coleridge, but there IS a poet with the last name of Coleridge... uno momento... Samuel Taylor Coleridge to be precise! Wikipedia is your friend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Taylor_Coleridge There you go....
Well thats great that you make her very happy and congrats on making your relationship alot stronger! Yeah having their parents treat their kids like they need to grow up faster mentally is probably a good thing because life can be tough even for those happier people in the world.
This is very very true. My parents believe in this, and so I've never been a "normal" kid, instead I've always been the responsible guy, the good kid, the one that everyone looked to for help, cause they knew I'd always be there to help out. It's a strain some days, and I always wonder what I've missed.
@Ninja: Hey, it's great to do that sort of thing. Relationships are strengthened greatly by talking about stuff like that, and it's awesome to hear that you're working stuff out in that way. However, I'm agreeing with Uriel when he says that as long as the relationship doesn't revolve around one person needing you, or the strain of helping that person doesn't hurt you, it's alright. I know those two scenarios far too well for my own good, and I'll tell you, be cautious about it. Just my .02
Actually, that also sounds a lot like London. So nothing really unusual there, I guess.
@Uriel Coleridge: Welcome, man. Nice to see a fellow South American singer/guitarist around here.

Who says you can't be both? The real problem is being too much of a kid and relegating responsibilities, or vice versa.

@Ninja : I am glad you make your girlfriend happy, but it really sounds like her home life is structured in a way that really prevents her from being a kid. That is an important part of her development. When she grows up she is either going to have no idea how to enjoy herself and could wind up really stressed out, or she could spend her adult life reclaiming her childhood and not be able to focus on responsible stuff.
Sorry doves. I had my post ready in Notepad and was refreshing over and over. I'm sitting here at work anyways, with not much else to do. I was watching this thread like a hawk.
Im too lazy to go quote but about that anime, watch some My Neighbor Totoro. I loved that one, my favorite. It's cute and funny and has nothing too serious in it.
As for being a kid, I think that kids are put under way too much pressure, asked to grow up too fast, and then when they reach actually growing up, they realize how much they needed to be a kid, so it's a jumbled timeline.
In my opinion? everyone needs to have a little kid in them somewhere. I distinctly recall an office I interned at, in the midst of a deadline and when times were stressful, someone broke out the pez candies and a guy got stuck with wonder woman and they all just relaxed a little bit.
Yeah you have to be grown up to survive, but you have to be a kid to live.
When I saw 'My Neighbor Totoro' about ten years ago, I thought it was pretty great. When we tried to watch it again a few months back, we made it about twenty minutes before we couldn't hold on any longer.
@Omna: Samuel Taylor Coleridge... the guy who wrote the Rime of the Ancient Mariner? I gotta look up some of his stuff... Thanks for the heads up!
@RickCorgan: Thanks, man. What kind of music do you play? I'm mostly into metal, though I've just picked up an electric, so I'm still in the learning stages of soloing and stuff. I can rock Cradle's "Her Ghost in the Fog" pretty well, though.
There's nothing like growing up faster than you should, while keeping the kid inside safe for when you need him. It's that kid that keeps you from going insane at times.
I'm a fan of anime too, though I haven't had the chance to watch much. A Hellsing episode with a pentagram kind of banned anime in my house...^_^; Though, I've been told Bleach is pretty cool. Should I try to get my hands on a few DVDs and check it out, or is it not worth it?

Heh... heh... heh.. I'm doomed.
Am I the only person here who doesn't watch anime? I just don't typically enjoy it. (though there are one or two which interest me, like Akira, I loved that film. :D)
I don't particularly like Anime either, but hey... I do like Fate/Stay Night and Read or Die (R.O.D)... Both great shows... has anybody seen the subtitled Fate anywhere ? I found the first three eps on joox.net but I'd really like to see more of it Ryan has the whole series, but I bet its somewhere around the 'net...
And yes, I do agree with everyone's sentiments about how its very important to be a kid growing up.... I feel like I grew up pretty quickly, due to being an only child, and now I'm just learning how to better handle myself in situations with other people... So we all have our little quirks that are hard to hurdle... This is not a bad thing... and I'm certainly learning more about it as we're together, which makes me understand him and his origins a lot better than I did a year ago... It really is making me appreciate him more and respect what he believes in... It was frustrating for me, but I'm glad that I understand his past better now..... Hmm.. hope he isn't upset with me for posting this.... its how I felt previously... We all are raised different ways, and Ninja.. you really can't control how a person is raised... Without knowing it, they may become engrained in that reality... Be careful about wanting to change someone, because that is the sure-fire way to harm a relationship... I was struggling with that too... but when the two people are willing to work together on the relationship's improvement, that's what makes it worthwhile... But I've talked too much.. I'm curious to what Arguas will say when he gets in here, because I think this is a topic he'll want to discuss.... I don't want to encumber his personal comments/opinions or anything, by sayiing too much about him and his life...
And also, of course, congratulations to Sakura for the 1700th post :cookie:!!
Stick around long enough, Adam, and you'll get another one of the cookies... This thread moves fast enough This is nice because before it wasn't moving too fast at all
I just applied to a couple jobs so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on those.... we'll see.. they're at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)'s library... Anyway, I really really need to get to work on that thesis now Wish me luck folks!!
I'm kind of ambivalent to and ignorant of anime in general, but I do like several series. (Bleach before it started to suck super hard, Haruhi, FMP.) My ex-roommate watches a ton of it, and sort of filters out the stuff we wouldn't like. (Though I've seen the pilot episodes of quite a few series.)
I'm not a fan of anime per se. Like, I don't watch something or want to watch it only because it's anime/manga. I've watched some anime that have absolutely blown me away (Fruits Basket, FMA), and others than made me wanna throw up (Naruto, DBZ). Depends on the case, really.

Myself, I'm more of an indie rock man. My three favorite bands are Muse, The Smashing Pumpkins and the Beatles, and everything I write music-wise has at least a bit of influence from one of them.
