Yeah, I don't know who originally thought out the "International" meeting, but there has always been a plan in effect for the Upper Midwestern American Izzet members to meet, as the vast majority of us is in this area. YEAH WISCONSIN IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THINGS SO I DON'T HAVE TO TRAVEL ANYWHERE!!! WOOT!
But seriously, as many Izzet as we can get would be awesome. When is the next big PTQ or Regionals or somesuch, we need to meet up! We've all been talking about it for quite some time now, we need ACTION!
So, what's new guys?
Edit: But seriously: We will meet in the place where there is no darkness...
Edit, edit: CLAN CONTEST 5!!!!!!!!
We need to submit four words (awesome, as four is the number of death... and my lucky number... xD).
How about: Wisdom, Chaos, Fire, Water. These seem rather iconic for the Izzet, no? Then again, they might be too easy... Oh well, we also need to find the best short-story writer. I may be able to do it, but I think I'd rather not... or mayhaps we could all submit our own entries to ourselves, and then pick the best one...
...and a cookie goes to whomsoever identifies my allusion first... GO!

1. Awesome quote.
2. Good idea for a contest...though very subjective for the judges.
3. I would replace "Water" with "Ice," but that's just because it has a nice ring to it and because of the card.
4. I cheated...Google'd it.
1984.
5. Because I can. Kick Ravus's ass in both a Magic duel and an Ultimate Showdown!
Actually, the SHA/SDM logo reminded me of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ravnica. Something between those two.
The quote's from 1984... I didn't google it, seriously, I was reading that part of the book as I looked at the screen... It was kind of creepy, actually.
Tarmy can't be from there... Lhurgoyfs are snow predators, native to Terisiare, and Wizards itself has revealed that Tarmogoyfs are just evolved Lhurgoyfs... (way too eveolved IMO )
Really, Bardu? Awesome!
I don't own any and I've only seen the card maybe three or four times.
I wouldn't be surprised if Shadowmoore is graveyard based, and I also wouldn't be surprised if Flashback isn't in Shadowmoore. Since they mixed in a little FB in TSB, I doubt they will revisit it again so soon afterwards, although R&D has proved me wrong in the past.
we can only hope that tarmogoyf is reprinted in shadowmoor. that means more copies floating around and that means they are cheaper and easier to get a hold of. unlike some other cards that are amazing *cough*thoughtseize*cough* should that card really be rare w/ duress at common? and should it really be going for 20+ a piece??
The price of Toughtseize will eventually come down. Prices are always inflated when sets are first released. I think it is correctly placed in the rare slot. It will be a powerful, sought after tournament staple that will help sell the set for them.

i agree, but i think w/ it at rare the price won't come down *that* much. i think it'll rest easy at 10-15. but i'm a big stickler for not wanting to drop a hundred bucks on four cards. call me cheap, but i just can't stomach it. imo, rares oughtta sit at the 5 dollar mark (good rares anyway), uncommons at 1.50-2 dollars, and commons at less than a buck. but that's a perfect world and we don't live in that world.

You may say I'm a dreamer...
But I'm not the only one.
Perfectly understandable. Constructed is hard to play when the best cards sell for $10 or more.
However, I would venture to say that Thoughtseize should be rare because it is almost always strictly superior to Duress in all formats except maybe Legacy and Vintage. Even in Legacy, it's a solid sideboard card against Goblins and Skies.
Standard constructed becomes too much a rich mans game to play. Though I would consider the majority of the block players have a better time dealing with the fact, when they deal with a smaller card pool.

it just really sucks to have to borrow from my friends when i wanna play a tourney. i like having my own cards. but it just gets too expensive. i wish i could afford to sink all my extra cash into magic, but i just can't. i've got too many other bills and wants. so i only buy cards when i know i can afford it. i'll just have to borrow for now.
I personally like to think I play standard competitively, but actually play standard casually. That way, I feel like I'm good, but only have to beat my friends. And I can make standard rogue decks and win with them.
Actually, I just like playing rogue budget decks and beating people with them, no matter what the format.
I'm thinking about buying a box of lorwyn. Izzet worth it?
Well, I've totally been gone for 2 months, but life is stable and I'm back to posting! I see that my previous position has been filled (and understandably so, i HAVE been gone), I wish to apply for apprentice of unpredictability, my fair Izzet brethren!

I U Dio GAYMERS, the cause of, and solution to, all life's problems.
Welcome back Epock!
The Izzet have been less energetic without you and BD, but now that we have one member of that illustrious pair back, things will be on the upswing!
@ Tiki: Of every Magic set I've experienced since I started playing around 8th Edition's release, there is no set I've wanted to purchase of box of more than Lorwyn. The cards are flavorful, powerful, and potentially worth a lot. The chase rares of the set (Thoughtseize, Gaddock Teeg, and maybe Cryptic Command and Jace Beleren) are going to be worth tons, and other cards are at least decently priced.
I'm so all over Lorwyn, but I'm not gonna buy a box, just do what I always do: singles and draft. I already preordered my thoughtseizes (>_< damn those were pricey), but those are gonna go the route of pithing needle and damnation and not go down. Ever. Well, maybe a little, but not by much. There's absolutely no time where its a bad play (unless they have no cards in their hand.), and it impacts every format. So good. I'm not usually a fan of black, but since I wanna play fairies...
Fairies are the shiztnite. I'm so glad they did a fairy tribe.
I'm going for the U/b/w blink build with the cliques. In testing it's pretty solid, there's very few dead cards and once you get the engine going, its over. However, I would like more changelings in there just so that I have more of a toolbox for the harbringers once they start coming into play over and over.
Hmmm, that was a pretty good price. May I suggest Flamekin Brawler instead of Mogg Fanatic? It's more resilient and can kill most creatures if you have mana open (and stay alive), also, what do you usually sac to perilous research? And,no psiblast? Other than that, it's a pretty nice deck, congrats.

For the 4 words: Passion, Flame, Sky, Chaos.
Anyone think the graveyard will matter in SM?

It was released soon after I first started. I loved the flavour. All my friends and I ripped open packs of Homelands trying to pull a Baron Sengir.
