I was only able to listen to the second quarter and see the second half, but I enjoyed the game for what it was. The only commercial I really liked was the carreerbuilder one with daydreaming about punching small animals.
As far as Conflux impacting constructed, Of course Banefire and Noble Hierarch and Path to Exile are going to see play; what I'm most interested in is Nyxathid and Voices from the Void. Discard is fun.

Out of Conflux for Standard I like Path to Exile and Lapse of Uncertainty the most since they both seem pretty awesome for Kithkin, which after recent forays into RW Lark I am going back to since I know the deck better and am always more comfortable with aggro.
The Superbowl was pretty great, very intense game in the fourth quarter. Thankfully the Steelers pulled through at the very end, but I have to admit my faith wavered for a bit there.
Also, baseball is pretty boring to watch and not physical enough to be interesting to play. I go to games every so often when I'm offered Oriole's tickets, but it's not really a team that you can get pumped for since they win incredibly rarely.

Path to Exile I'm still out s to how good it actually is. But Lapse of Certainty is a definite winner in my book. Other cards I like include most of the non-creature Domain cards, most of the five color cards, and well a lot of the set in general. I am interested to see if a five-color Domain Aggro deck can be made.
Also the Superbowl was pretty good, but unfortunately the greater evil won and the lesser evil that is the Arizona Cardinals lost.
Hmm...looks like I missed gettin on the first page (Probably have Izzet shenanigans to thank for that ). In any case Gratz on the new thread, as for Conflux I'm looking forward to all the flashy new mythics in the set ^^, maelstrom angel and it's ilk seem like fun times for my deck.
I'll probably add at least three Banefires to my RGB Ramp deck. Plus Volcanic Fallouts in the sideboard. I also see Malestorm Angel having some potential in 5cc.

Eh, Im not a football fan. The whole physical contact sport isnt the issue. ts the fact that a 5 min. period never ends.
With Baseball Time is irrelevant. which is why I love it.
Plus Im biased towards it, since I played it for 4 years
I did play football for awhile too, but I severely screwed up my ankle

I think PtE will be insane, as will the lapse.
And baseball is incredibly physical, it is just as demanding, if not more than football. sure you dont have a 400 lb dude crashing into you. but the force, timing and physical exertion it takes to throw a baseball over 80 mph is intense.
I would know, I pitched for my 4 years, and I can still throw as fast as I used to, which is pretty damn fast. Being a big guy can be an advantage, the force needed to throw a fastball resides in the legs. and since im heavy its easy for me to do.
Baseball is a mind game. There is a whole language to it, yes, football has all its complex plays, but so does baseball.
A catcher has to know every hitter and pitchers stats, plus know what to throw and when to throw it. and he has to read the signs from his manager, most of which are fake, to throw off the opposing team. and the signs change from game to game, sometimes every inning.
Its kind of funny that a game of baseball literally comes down to how well the manager and catcher read the opposing team and each others signs.
Also, I dare you to throw a ball over 75 mph, or hit a fastball thats going 95 mph
its not as easy as you think, and I will defend it to the death.
[Quietmen reference is] even more stupid than the cleric nonsense (given that several Iz are about as trash-mouthed/sexual-innuendo-laden as the worst members of the Called have ever been). Seriously, the Called are anything but mysterious or quiet.
The trash-talkery could be worse, but I've gotten enough rule-breakings for the time being... Plus, I think it's a reference that the Izzet's enemy on Ravnica was the green-white Conclave fools. Their colours are our enemies, their dogma and dealings don't come close to aligning with the Izzet's, and so on.
Anyway, I'm going to read the other two pages I missed, and get back here with some editions...
First Edit of the Day:

Hai there Izzet from ARD. has been one of my favorite color combinations since I started playing (first competitive deck was Instant Soup Mix). I would like to become a friend to your clan, as it seems that most of ARD is taking a nap.
I don't know... last year the ARD were our biggest competition (even though we seem to have considered it the Called... :raise:).
Bah. Welcome Chaos, friend of the Izzet. I mean really, your name is chaos. Sounds pretty Izzet'y to me.
Edit the Second:

I'm all for violence in Australia...

Gosh do I ever hate sealed. I prefer drafting anyday over sealed :grin3:.
Agreed.
Yet another Edit: Football and baseball both are for sissies. Bloodsports are the only way to go.

Baseball = boring on an innate level.
Finally, new avvy!
Path to Exile is a four-of in any white-based deck. It's that good.
and I disagree, both games are very hard to play. Bloodsports are just plain fun.
Eh. Not a sportsfan. At least, not of such sports... Violence, however, is fun indeed.

I dont see it being run that much in legacy however.
I would rather remove a creature and have you gain life(via Swords) than gain more tempo by gaining an extra land.
Maybe Psi could weigh in on this, seeing as he is our other Good Legacy Player.
First of all...

Hoy!
Anyway, Legacy and Vintage won't really use it all that much, unless in an aggro deck that doesn't want the opponent to gain minimal life, for some reason. (:isthatso:) Edit: Ironically, I also agree with Psi.

Dude, have you ever seen Lacrosse played? The players beat the **** out of each other with sticks. Most brutal, yet still legal, sport I have ever seen. May I mention that many of the sticks are wood or metal? Those things friggen hurt. I believe that Lacrosse is the equivalent of a modern-day Gladiator tournament.
Okay, so I played in the prerelease and did horrible. Like, I have never done worse. I changed my deck up every round as I opened utter crap all throughout and what I was essentially looking at in my pile was a crappy non-exalted bant deck and few decent rakdos cards.
So I played Jund the first two rounds, then switched to a Grixis build for the three color cards pulling me into it. Last round I played a Naya deck that managed to win me a sweep at the lowest table possible after winning no games.
Lady Luck really took a **** in my mouth that day. I had a super agressive deck that could do 15-19 damage every game before losing every game.
I was only able to listen to the second quarter and see the second half, but I enjoyed the game for what it was. The only commercial I really liked was the carreerbuilder one with daydreaming about punching small animals.

The game was really quite good. Perhaps a little too reliant on penalties and rulings, but otherwise interesting, surprising, and dramatic, with focus on many elements of the game. Plus, that 100-yard rush was frickin awesome. A 300lb guy running the WHOLE field for the 14 point play was really incredible.
Yet another Edit: Football and baseball both are for sissies. Bloodsports are the only way to go.
UFC FTW. I will have to get my face bloodied in this sport on of these days. I think it may be the same day that I decide I don't like getting my face bloodied.
rocker and ratfinkp, you need to speak up if you want to change your vote. The way I am doing this is letting everyone vote for one card...... Actually I just changed my mind. You can vote for two cards or let your votes count for the same card. The two cards with the most votes get in. If you vote for only one card, both your votes go for the same card.
Change your votes as desired. Votes will be tallied in final form on friday, time of my choosing. If you want to be sure, make your decisions known by the end of thursday, EST.
EXTRA EDIT: Re-read rules and redid voting guidelines. Vote for one extended-legal card for survivor and another for the stragglers in contest 2. The one with the most votes wins. I break ties.

Ummmmmmm....Cloud Key can enable an infinite combo with storm. I DO NOT want to see that built/played. it could seriously turn into a really good deck. NO FREAKIN WAY!
VOTE:Immortal Coil, yes its black, but its very interesting, and could be quite fun.

I vote Beacon of Tomorrows for round one, and I'm not a particular fan of either of the stragglers' cards. One with Nothing will be picked by about everyone. Not very original. Aeolipile is too easily made into some sort of bad burn deck. Why not choose something more... Izzet inspired...
