It's not that bad, taking a blow to the face. But then, I've been used to it for years, by now. Seriously though, has your nose ever been broken? If it hasn't, you may wantneed to "practice" taking some hits...
In all the fights I have been in, I have never had my nose broken........now that I think about it I have never even had a bloody nose.....but thats because the fight doesn't last long :evillol:.

I vote Beacon of Tomorrows for round one, and I'm not a particular fan of either of the stragglers' cards. One with Nothing will be picked by about everyone. Not very original. Aeolipile is too easily made into some sort of bad burn deck. Why not choose something more... Izzet inspired...
Ravus Is right, its alot harder to take a hit like that. i would know. And even Practice cant always help you, you have to change your bodies natural reactions in order to take a punch like that, mind you, it can be done, but it isnt easy.

I'm pretty big dude, and I wrestle so I can take a pretty hard hit.
I will
I am a big dude too.
And while you may wrestle, and can take a hit. I am trained in several areas of combat, some of which even ravus doesnt know! :o(by that I mean I havent told him....)
So I an confidant in my abilities.
Besides, who would pick a fight with Teh Izzets Psi-Bear???

Actually, in my experience, that makes you all the more predictable. I've devoted my life to the pursuit of violence, and understand the ritual we call combat very well. I'm still more than eager to match not-so-proverbial wits with Weaver... (:evillol:)
Which reminds me, Weaver, have you determined whether you're going to GP Chicago? I'm only a few hours from Chicago, and would be more than happy to engage you in combat (and perhaps, Magic ).
At the contest entry: I actually like Weaver's Izzet-Jank than my own.

Ooo, is there going to be a fight. I love fighting. If so I want to participate.
Also who from [The Izzet] are going to the GP in Chicago?
If there is a fight, it's purely for fun, and to test eachothers' skillsets. If you haven't noticed, Weaver and I take turns bragging about our violence, scars, and mental aptitudes. It's high time we settle this thing. :mad1:
Anyway, I probably can't go to Chicago, I thought it was in March, not May.

I know it is for fun, but I used to spar a lot (like almost everyday) a few years ago, and I miss doing it. I was actually pretty good.
Also GP Chicago (actually in Schaumburg) is March 9-8, and not in May. Go here for more details.
What kind of sparring? Sport-karate point sparring, or reality-combat "playfighting"?
Err... see? That's how confused I am. I thought it was in May, not March.
Edit: I see you *****es lurking. ()
Confused... that's why you babble.
It was point sparring, but I've done some old fashioned street fighting too. Tht was both brutal and fun. Plus I have a first degree black belt in Hapkido, Tang Soo Do, and Okinawan Kobudo. Overall, not to brag, but I will anyways since this is [The Izzet] thread, I was about an olympic level point-sparrer, considering I could hold my own against some of the best out there.

Not to make your accomplishment seem like nothing, but... point sparring is for the weak. Hapkido, however, is one of the arts I am (well, my "playgroup" ;)) adapting to a newer, more awesome combative style. We've got a fourth degree, certified instructor--even in Korea, which is considerable for a Westerner--in Hapkido, who has learned under Robert Bussey (you may not have heard of him, but he's relevant, I assure you.). Plus, a champion (Americanized-)boxer, and a few other notables. As you could imagine, training night is hardcore.
Edit: Still no posting from our resident ghosts? :monty:

I said I did some street fighting too.
But the head instructor/owner of the school, Scott Kifer, went and trained in Korea for years directly under Ji Han Jae. And he was considered one of the premier Hapkido instructors in the world, I believe he is retired now due to health reasons.
His son, Jason Kifer, and the head instructor is one of the top ranked martial artists in the world (especially in the Bo staff). He has won several championships for his Bo forms. Here is a video of one of his performances. He is a certified 7th degree black belt.
His other son, Adam Kifer, is also a world ranked martial artists (plus a pretty good DJ). Here is a video of him and one of his performances. He is a certified 4th degree black belt.
Cool. But still, you seem to be concentrating on "sport-karate" (point sparring and demonstrational forms), whereas I (and Weaver) concentrate on the combatives. I've got a little ninjutsu (I know Weaver says he does, too, as well as krav maga), hapkido, taekwondo (unless you consider that the striking aspect of hapkido), kenjutsu, kusarijutsu (my favourite weapon, the kusarigama ), sayoc kali, and several others I'm forgetting...
Speaking of which, are you a weapons man? I like to consider myself the weapon-specialist of my little group (and the youngest >.>).

I've been focusing on the sport aspect of it just because that is the place where I have the most data to support it with. But like I said I did some street fighting and was pretty good at it, since because of my Hapkido I could block and counter attack very effectively. Plus I broke a lot of bones and dislocated shoulders.
Also knowing more different martial arts does not equate better necessarily.
I am more of a hand combat person, but my weapon of choice (and the one that I am best in) is the Sai, since that is most like an extension of the hand.
Also knowing more different martial arts does not equate better necessarily.
Not necessarily, but then, I am, after all, Ravus.

All weapons are an extension of the body, or they're not being used properly. But anyway, I like the sai, it's alright, but I prefer the predecessor to them: the Jitte. But then, I prefer Japanese weapons to Okinawan (trust me, Okinawa may be "officially" part of Japan, but if you tell that to anyone there... prepare to get kicked in the nads.).

Very true, but like I said, extension of the hand. And actually the Jitte is not the predecessor of the Sai. They were developed independently. I actually haven't trained with the Jitte, since my weapons training was limited to Okinawan Weapons.

Anything you can Do Ravus, I can do, and I will make sure it is better and More effective.
I have only a limited amount of ninjutsu training seeing as the school I went to closed down. I also study Jujutsu(as ravus well knows) and I am currently enrolled in Krav Maga Classes.
I have weapons training too.
Im pretty sure Ravus and I's fight would end in a bloodbath, hows that for blood sports!?!?
It's cute that you underestimate my abilities, and misrepresent your own.
How's that going for you, by the way?
:mad1:
Good, I loooooooove me some Legacy
I dont underestimate your abilities, I just think that I am stronger. Remember, I never said our fight would be easy....
I have only taken the classes for a short time, possibly 10 so far in the past 2 months. it pretty brutal, but I love it. before i started the classes back in november, I was losing weight pretty easily, now, I have upped my training, and I have dropped a significant amount of poundage.
In all the fights I have been in, I have never had my nose broken........now that I think about it I have never even had a bloody nose.....but thats because the fight doesn't last long :evillol:.
