Ravus, we are complaining about the same thing. I'm too slow to get first page, let alone first post. I've gotten first post on other clans, but never here.
Ah, I saw your writing as more of a consolation than *****ing about the same thing...

Also, I like the test subject step. It's a good way to let members show they are actually going to stick around.
Indeed, I still dislike the name, however. We aren't the damned Simic...

And about test subjects, well, we need them too. Don't we screw with goblins and wire people up and cyborgize them and test weapons and temporal rays and whatnot?
No, it's actually transitioning to a word, albeit much faster than words normally form. But there are already words that are corruptions of "lol," such as "lulz." Acronyms need not stop being acronyms, but some do and become words, much like some phrases become hyphenated and then become a single word.
EDIT: how did you get your word into ubrandicitonary? I tried to submit one and it failed. Steps you took?

I just followed the steps it told me to. The trick, I think, is to keep everything very professional looking....I think....I don't know if that helped it along.

Play RDW or Boros for T2 if you want a deck to play that isn't named Jund. Well at least, I do love red-based decks, considering RDW is my favorite archetype :).

@Ejdeha: here's a list of the Izzet fields of Mastery. Grats! Fields of Mastery
Arcane Babblings - Ravus
Chronomancy/Time Manipulation - Niv (ex)
Destruction - Clem
Domination - AI
Elemental Synthesis - wamyc
Experimental Explosives - None
Flame Alchemy - Psi/Zazirik (ex)
Frontier Knowledge - None
Goblin Shenanigans - None
Lavamancy - None
Mizzium Manipulation - None
Prohibition - None
Psycho-Delusional Wisdom - Weaver (ex)
Recycled Wisdom - None
Skies, the - None
Spell Manipulation - DF
Unpredictability - Rocker
Some of these are already taken/have been taken during my time with the Izzet (Avatar of Light was the HM of Lavamancy, but he hasn't been around in eons.), and you could always pick your own, though I'd pick something that parses better than "psycho-delusional wisdom."
As for the fields of High Mage Izzetry....Flame Alchemy is not available :p, as I plan on being a High Mage again sometime in the future.:thumbsup:
I guess I'll deserve title of acolyte some other time, I need to be active once more.
.... If there are no suitable ones for Ejdeha, Maybe we can vote on a new one?
I mean, Pyrokinesis sounds like a nice field
Pyrokinesis is essentially useless though, if you consider the actual, literal definition of the word is more or less "moving fire," the "with your mind" thing is generally implied. So without a source of fire nearby, it's a useless skill. I think Pyrogenesis would be more useful, as the creation of fire on a whim would have a more practical use.

Don't be so quick to surrender, you're only an apprentice. Time to call in the High Mage...

Don't be so quick to whip out that redneck-teach...
You said in there that acronyms "may themselves become words"... I disagree. My definition of a word might differ slightly from yours, but I do not, nor have I ever, considered popular slang to be "words". And furthermore, certain of these "slang-words" (although I might call them "abominations") are added to dictionaries... Webster's, for example, took on Stephen Colbert's "truthiness" and there are dozens of other examples of this. These are not words, even if Webster's is willing to tell the public so. Also, Webster's has been known to kill certain words, merely because they do not find them often in modern conversation. As you may be beginning to see, I abhor Webster's dictionaries. Although slang is an important and relevant part of language, I will not accept that such terms as "lol" or "woot" (actually added to Webster's a year or so ago...) are words. As my apprentice (and rightfully so, apparently :hifive:) had pointed out, "lol" is an acronym, and "woot" is onomatopoeia. Whether the general populous uses them as, or even believes them to be words, doesn't matter. Whether or not I believe in trees doesn't determine whether or not they exist.

Well put. My definition of "word" is any term that is not a rhetorical device (by which I mean things like Onomatopoeia, gibberish, et cetera), or an acronym, et cetera. I may have missed some things, but things I didn't mention fall under my et ceterae in general. Websters tends to incorporate terms like Truthiness because they are seen in common usage enough to function as words, however, they are still slang (I almost typed "slag" there, which would still be close), and should at least be labeled as such in their entry.

Indeed. But I've long since forgotten to give a damn about Webster's.

Don't push me, now... I still vaguely recall having almost disowned you once upon a time...
But for having stuck aboard the Arcane Babblings train, have a cookie!
I didn't say I looked too deeply into it, just that I thought such was the reality.
Thanks for the cookie, and you'll hear no more "aww"s from me. Promise.
/munchoncookie
alright. I'll go figure out how they work!
a) You should have said 'l.o.l.', as it's an acronym...
b) Thanks much.

The vote of a High Mage actually counts for ten votes, so congratulations; you have now been demoted to Acolyte of Destruction.
Vote!
You must have been bored.

Also, it would be awesome to be heading up the Lavamancy Deparment again. That field is so awesome.

Maybe I should really scavenge eBay next time I really want something that bad lmao.
Lavamancy does sound awesome. You know you're a lavamancer when you have people on MWS going, "Entire deck was a burn spell" lol.
