I have splashed for double-costs multiple times in every format. In Zendikar I have splashed for Hellkite Charger and Marsh Casualties, for instance (both in decks with a couple of Harrows), and in Shadowmoor I would go wild with splashing Incremental Blight every time, and sometimes I would also splash Jaws of Stone if I had several (2 at the least, preferably 3) Elsewhere Flasks. I never do it if there's not a good reason to do it, and I have to be able to support them. But I do it fairly often.
Manuel Bucher even splashed Sorin Markov in a Zendikar limited GP...
Sphinx is so good I've splashed it RG with 3 island and no fixing.
I don't think I would try this with no fixing at all... I would need some combination of Harrow, Khalni Heart Expedition, and Khalni Gem (or a really really slow deck with a lot of removal) to try a double-color splash. In Alara splashing for Martial Coup is fine, but I just don't see that being a reliable strategy in ZEN limited without the right tools.
(This is my hint that I probably won't be able to make the next one, so someone else is welcome to plan it.)
You mean you can't participate if it is held next weekend, right? It seems weird if you can't regardless of when it's going to happen By the way, I think I'm available this weekend, but probably not the one after that.
I just went 3-1 in an Alara sealed daily event with a pretty bad Naya deck without maindeck rares and almost no way to deal with any kind of threat... I lost the first match and considered dropping, but then I remembered I had this one card called Behemoth Sledge or something... It almost single-handedly won me the rest of the matches, along with some unoptimal play on my opponents' part. And the fact that I was for once less greedy with my manabase than everyone else was

I'm not saying I can't participate. I'm just getting a little behind on life, and I feel like I'm devoting all my time and energy into magic lately, when it should be going to like... I don't know, taxes or something awful.
I might still play if it's on a Sunday again, but I don't want to make any promises. If it turns out to be the only day that I can get something done, real lifes has to come first.
I know that's nebulous. I can see myself playing, but I don't want to reserve every weekend for magic, when it's my only time to do non-work-related anything.

I'll be sad if people don't start calling The Chain Veil "Fleetwood Mac."

On a completely different note, is it too early to try and organize the next clan draft?
I might be able to do another clan draft if we do it on Sunday. Friday and Saturday I am definitely out. I could possibly do it on a weeknight if all our participants are within 2-3 hours of each other in regards to timezones (or if our friends in Europe want to stay up past their bedtime).
It's more that people always overvalue removal. Really, if they make a card ":symb:: Sorcery: As an additional cost, get F'd in the A. Destroy target creature." people will say "removal is removal" and first-pick it.
Worth noting that nobody loses out from extra Clan drafts happening. If you do one on a weeknight I won't make it, but I definitely won't mind. In fact I'd enjoy reading the match reports!

This is off topic, but I love reuniting people with their older cards.
I have this one friend who has been playing magic since beta, got kind of burnt out working on the Microprose "Magic the Gathering" games, and gave the same another shot around ravnica, and promptly quit again.
He's starting to bring in his older decks to play with us, and I've noticed that he hasn't mixed cards from different stints of playing.
So today I'm watching him play 2v2 at lunch, and he's piloting a more-or-less block constructed form of dredge. I ask him if he's running any L.E.D.'s. He says that he knows he has two or three, but doesn't remember what they do.

Hahahahaha. I have a friend like that too, although I don't remember anything quite as good as forgetting L.E.D. in dredge. A few years back I remember a friend trying to build UG Madness for Extended and completely forgetting Basking Rootwalla altogether. He was totally shocked when we told him...after the PTQ.
Yeah, I thought LED was total crap when I started playing. Of course, I didn't know anything about stack shenanigans back then, so it had never occured to me that you could go like tutor, response sac LED
I'm up for a clan draft on Sunday. I'm flexible when it comes to the time. I stay indoors most of the time now anyways, as it's still very cold. Consistently -20 degrees Celcius (about -5 Fahrenheit?), and the last couple of days it's been down to -25 and even -30. Late February shouldn't be that cold!
I just won a couple of Alara drafts, both with 5CC, since that's how I roll. In the second I had Sigil of Distinction (again passed to me) and Martial Coup, although I never ever saw the Coup in the seven games I played. In the first match I was one down and my opponent had superior board position, but I had Fusion Elemental and a bunch of mana. He alphaed me down to 4 life or so, and then I untapped, played Sigil for about infinite, and took down his 20 life in one shot with the Elemental

-20C is precisely -4F. So yeah, pretty damn cold.

It's nice to see someone appreciate the 5-color deck in limited formats. Back in Shards block draft I would often go with what I called 5 Color Surprise. The big surprise was when I would get my mana base in order and play Exploding Borders for 5 damage on turn four.

I just did a google search, and yeah, it's currently 27 degrees Celcius (That is 48.6 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer in Baltimore than here in Trondheim, and here we live just by the ocean (or more precisely: a fjord, but I don't know if you all know what that is, since there aren't many fjords outside Norway), so it feels even colder than the temperature shows I hope they put a GP up here in January times, when it is even colder, just to scare PV and the California pros for life
Edit: Just won an Alara sealed event on Modo. Running good!
I would like to join I have found my real love for Magic and that is in Limited. I do tons of drafting and sealed on MTGO. I have worked my rating up to a decent number and am still learning!
I'm on MTGO all the time under the name of Dragosani.
Let's get a time set for this then so people can start planning. What we did last weekend seemed to work well, so lets start there. How does 9:00 am Pacific time on Sunday sound? Everyone determine what that means for your local time and lets us know if it works for you.
It's more that people always overvalue removal. Really, if they make a card ":symb:: Sorcery: As an additional cost, get F'd in the A. Destroy target creature." people will say "removal is removal" and first-pick it.
I wish WotC awarded pack prizes in the form of any booster from their store. It's really annoying the way they keep running special events using older sets but I'd have to spend large amounts of cash money to get the boosters. I suppose that's why they do it.

Turn 2 - Hada Freeblade, Hada Freeblade, attack for 3
Turn 3 - Kazandu Blademaster, attack for 9
Turn 4 - Join the Ranks, attack for 19
I love this game X3
Edit: Oh, and I'm gonna say right now that hada freeblade will be a ten dollar card. A 3/4 on turn 2 is nuts... too bad they'll never do out-of-block allies.

It's totally fine. You can always ask people here if they want to try and draft, permission doesn't have to come down from me or anyone.
