Holy crap, what a week. So, I officially moved back to my home town... then moved my girlfriend's friend back to her hometown, found a job, started that job, researched schools, enrolled in school, did all my FAFSA and student loan apps, applied to be a mod, and now I'm basically dead to the world.
I apologize for not being my normal active self, I've literally had no time to do anything but work and sleep. I worked a half day today and have tomorrow off, so hopefully I can catch up on all my PMs... I have to delete literally 500ish so I can start receiving new ones, lol.
Anyways, how have things been around here? Anything new?

Today is the day I buy my first-ever box of MTG. I'm picking up a box of NPH later this evening, and I can honestly say all I want from it is a Sword of War and Peace.
I mean, obviously I hope I get at least a playset of Beast Withins, and a crapload of Dismember/Despise would be nice, but besides Jin-Gitaxis the only card I actually *need* is the Sword of War and Peace.
Karn and Batterskull would be gravy, same with the Obliterator, but I really just want the Sword.
Keep your fingers crossed for me, and if there's anything you need, lemme know

I'd be OK with it. I had some good ideas for RL photos last time but without a digital camera I couldn't actually take any pictures. I face a similar situation yet again.
I'm pretty good at brainstorming ideas, though, so hopefully a member with a camera can make some of them happen.

So my Bday was Thursday, and my g/f and some of my Mtg buddies got together and conspired against me for my own good. They showed up to FNM tonight (after much cyptic weirdness such as, "Hey, my buddy is trying to create his own set, where's that Niv-Mizzet walker you guys made in Mtgs? He was curious" text, and odd communications after) with the below for me. It looks pretty darn close to a real card. (BTW clanmates, thanks again for your part in this!)
They've already told me they're going to make me another and I am so totally going to make a casual deck with them just to see people's faces and test them out.
Went Garage Sale hunting yesterday, and found a ton of things, most notably a 1964 Monopoly Game complete, a Sega Game Gear with Sonic 2 and Major League Baseball, an Original Brick Gameboy, and a Rolex Lighter from the 50s. Also got some models, a Vinyl Joker one, a Bates Mansion Psycho one, and a couple of car ones. Pretty neat stuff, and all of those things were a dollar.
Nice haul, it kinda makes me want to go to a few myself.

I used to mod at Red Zone Gaming... "The Deck Builders" from YouTube, etc. But now I'm applying for a mod here.
I'm looking at finishing in Law Enforcement. I've always been interested in it and now I think I'll finally get a shot at doing what I love.
As for the Midnight Express... yeah wow, I've been absent for awhile. I'd love to get a new article in tomorrow if possible. I'm currently building a little meta-breaker that I can reveal there tomorrow.

The deck is pretty straightforward: play allies and use their abilities to help each other. The only non-Allies spells are burn to either clear the way for them, or to kill your opponent. The sideboard is a general one to handle red and black decks (Celestial Purge), white and blue decks (Combust), control decks with sweepers (Lead the Stampede), and creatures that are too big to burn (Journey to Nowhere).
This deck is right out of Yakusoku's Budget guide to standard, and I intend to use it for tomorrow nights TNM. Unfortunately, I don't have access to four rootbound crags or four sunpetal groves, for the immediate moment I have put in kazandu refuges and greypelt refuges in their place, but they DEFINITELY aren't the best option to be put in. Should I run something likeevolving wilds (I don't have any of the zendikar fetchlands)? Or should I put in basic lands?
And, I'm having a little bit of trouble when it comes to the sideboard. I know what cards I should put in in case of what, but I don't know what cards to take out for those cards. Can anyone provide any insight?
And, in play, should I play ondu cleric for life gain, or allies that get +1/+1 counters for bigger creatures, first? Basically, which is more important, life gain or big creatures to do damage? Or does it depend on what deck I'm playing?

The major issue with your SB is the amount of cards you have devoted to removal... I understand why these cards are good in certain match-ups, but 11 removal spells in the SB for a deck that usually doesn't play much, is a little over the top...
Also, I'd actually prefer Journey to Nowhere MD, not SB, where it's more versatile anyways (it gets rid of a lot more creatures than Burst Lightning).

Well I s'pose you have 4 shots to pull something tradeable for a sword (all the stuff listed above). Heck, even a playset of Mental Misstep will likely add up to a sword, especially when I expect to see the former go up and the latter go down in the near future. Also Spellskite is skyrocketing, and you can get a couple bucks for, of all things, the flipping Goblin token since it has the frequency of a mythic rare.

Agreed^. Also I can see the 2 Xx being Combust if you're worried about Splinter Twin combo. Its a pretty good answer. Is that what the C. Purges were for?
And maybe even consider Volt Charge main? Maybe... It works so stupidly well with the counters on your guys. *shrugs* Deserves testing at least.

I played that deck when Bloodbraid Elf was still Standard legal. I'm pretty sure that went undefeated at that FNM. Volt Charge is some sick tech! I don't think you should be playing green if it's just for four cards MD and four SB. Black gives you access to Bala Ged Thief, which is awesome against control decks, and still lets you run Bojuka Brigand, which is the same size as Oran-Rief Survivalist. Also, have you tested Mimic Vat? It gives you awesome staying power. JVL posted a WB Allies list some time ago that you may want to take a look at.

Quite a bit, apparently. As I generally try to avoid conflict and see only the best in people, I have come to the conclusion that mafia is not the best game for me.
I will spectate though, as I quite enjoyed NGE, and i'm sure it'll be interesting.

Keep in mind that the list he tested was meant to be used against a metagame that was 50+% Valakut. Nowadays, it's more like 50+% Caw-Blade. If you want that kind of deck to be competitive, you need ways to interact with Planeswalkers, Batterskull, and Swords. Despise is a no-brainer, attacking both Jace and Stoneforge Mystic. If Despise alone isn't getting the job done, Hex Parasite is great backup, and can nullify Tumble Magnet and Pyromancer's Ascension as well. Divine Offering out of the SB (or even MD depending on your meta) seems like a good call too. Let me know how testing goes for you.

It's ok Ryan... I had a hellish week finishing up the rest of my midterms. They were not fun whatsoever. (Remember, I'm on a slightly different school schedule compared to you and AI!) Now I get to worry about finals in a few weeks, including having to take the standardized test for organic chemistry done by the American Chemical Society. Which I've talked to with a friend of mine on Facebook and he said it's a hellish test.
I did register for next fall term though... I'll finally be senior then. I get to do research as well that term... which will be pretty sweet considering it's with my favorite professor.
I also get to do job shadowing this summer as well! I'll be in the lab at my local hospital doing different stuff in the histo/cyto labs (I'm a biology major). So I have stuff to look forward to. It will be nice being back in my hometown for the summer. I'm just about to finish up being a junior in college but I'm so sick of being in school for so long though. I'm already ready to graduate lol.

The idea is to get out the archmage somehow, roll out a bunch of artifacts with no cost, drawing cards and playing more artifacts, and then grapeshotting or ingnite memories-ing for a lot of damage.
Can this idea go somewhere?

Absolutely, I love Volt Charge with Allies. I'm not sure the 3CC, but other than that, the card is gold.

That is easily remedied. Mafia is a game that can be played IRL or on a forum such as this one. I recommend you check out the welcome thread and the Basic game thread.
