So, I'm considering taking one of my family's dogs as my own, as I did with my previous dog. Problem is, he's really hyper, and that's a bit of a turn-off for me with him. Hopefully with work that'll fix itself. Only reason he's not with me right now is he's got a bit of a problem right now that's causing bleeding, and he needs to rest. Probably has something to do with drinking so much water to keep up with the heat.
Also, chocolate cookies. Mm.
All I know about Veronica Mars is that its been making it really hard to find a movie I've wanted to re-see forever, Eyes of M.A.R.S.
The whole prop8 deal the way i think about it is that they say anything that infringes on our freedom is unconstitutional so in theory wouldnt it be unconstitutional to tell someone they cannot marry who they love. but that to me is just common sense.
In theory, yeah, this seems to be sound logic.
However, I'm with Ken. As much as I want this to pass and marriage to be legal for gays/lesbians, I wouldn't be surprised if the court votes against it.
Hey guys! Sorry for the absence. Been busy with work, trying to post up decks and critiques, and celebrating the overturning of Prop 8! Hope everything is going good for everyone else. I'm enjoying the Sookie Stackhouse novels and the triple-digit temps here in wonderful Afghanistan!
Welcome back!
Two questions:
1) Sookie Stackhouse? More info, please. I love to read.
2) Why are you in Afghanistan?
Hey guys, my dad's bday today and val is meeting my family. Leaving for france tomorow. I'll be away from her for a few weeks. I feel bad talking aobut her in here.
Good luck on Val meeting the parents!
A couple weeks away will just make the relationship stronger when you get back. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all.
Why do you feel bad talking about her in here?

Also, chocolate cookies. Mm.
Indeed. Yum!
So, every time I see the trailer for "Dinner with Schmucks", it makes me want to see it more! It looks hilarious.
I hate that politics enters into decisions made by the court. Maybe I'm missing something in the debates on why Prop 8 is so wonderful but if you ask me an impartial court should vote in favor of gay marriage.
Joe: Big brother! I'm excited about the veto competition and brittney's decision
If it gets to the Supreme Court I full believe that they will deem it unconstitutional. The court isn't as conservative as you'd think.
Also Big Brother was great! I'm so mad that this week the HoH comp was another endurance challenge. Ugh
lol i know things dont always work that way but i really feel like logic will when this battle if they take the time to think/talk about it.
Further more i think that silly religious superstition is what hold people back from just accepting the fact that we can love each other just like a man and women can love each other and theres nothing wrong with it.
Also i apologize if the previous statement upset anyone that may be religious here.
Any way sorry bout the rant how are you guys doing im bored to death.

1) The Sookie Stackhouse books (Dead Until Dark, Living Dead in Dallas, etc) are the books that TrueBlood is based off of. I'm trying not watch the series (I have the DVDs) until I've read all the books so far, but I think the show follows the books pretty closely from what I've seen of reviews and stuff. They're really quick reads, and you can get the first 8 books on Amazon for like 35 bucks as a set.
2) I'm in Afghanistan because the Army said I had to be here...lol.
If it gets to the Supreme Court I full believe that they will deem it unconstitutional. The court isn't as conservative as you'd think.
Meh, I don't follow politics or current events generally because it depresses the crap out of me. When I do watch the news, it's the 33 news, which, I ☺☺☺☺ you not, has SOMETHING about sex EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! It's weird.
Also Big Brother was great! I'm so mad that this week the HoH comp was another endurance challenge. Ugh
Is it BB time again? Man, I need to pay attention. Who's the favorite?
Micah, who will I like? And, when can I see it next? It'll be on 11, right?

Um, I think I may be the only religious person in here (sorry if I'm wrong) and that didn't offend me. I think it's ridiculous for all these religious nutjobs to insist that same sex marriage is immoral because the bible says so. Uh, no it doesn't!

Ah, I was pretty sure that was who wrote the True Blood books (as they're called, haha). Yeah, I've been told I need to get into that as well. Currently, however, I'm reading the Darksword Trilogy by Weis & Hickman. Anyone read it? It's Fantasy, of course.
And I want to meet Joram IRL

You're an army man? ... In Afghanistan? ... Fighting for our freedom?
I love you even more now!
Seriously, though, thank you for all the sacrifices you're making to make our lives better. I really appreciate it, and stay safe.
And, also serious, but a little more in tune with the clan...can we PLEASE see in-uniform pics (if/when you get a chance)? Please?

1. They seemed to have loved her. Went great apart from one thing. I realised how much my family didn't like my ex (I know they didn't like her but...).
2. I left for a week like a few days ago (got back sunday). It did make the relationship grow. Lets hope this helps too.
3. Thead title. I'm a guy. She's a girl. Seems sorta out of place...

Hayden

Rachel
Brendon
Have all won Vetos and or HOH. Brendon and Rachel are the biggest players in the game with a week one showmance and have alternately won vetos or HOH's to stay in the game this long.
I haven't seen last night's episode so I don't know who went home but because of the brigade I can only assume it was Kristen (Kristen and Hayden had a secret showmance til last HOH when the evicted laid it all out for everyone)
My favorite is Brendon I don't know who you'll like. Probably Ragan
1. They seemed to have loved her. Went great apart from one thing. I realised how much my family didn't like my ex (I know they didn't like her but...).
What, were they bashing your ex right in front of you new girlfriend?
I find that a bit rude, actually. Poor girl was probably sitting there thinking, "I wonder what they'll say about me when I leave tonight."
2. I left for a week like a few days ago (got back sunday). It did make the relationship grow. Lets hope this helps too.
Only reason it wouldn't is if she decides it's not for her. And, if that happens, you're better off without her.
3. Thead title. I'm a guy. She's a girl. Seems sorta out of place...
That's silly. As you've seen, you're not the only one that talks about straight relationships in here, and the gay men love to hear about any relationships, don'tcha guys?
As to the whole Prop 8 thing: I recall back when Oregon passed Measure 36 (defining marriage as between a man and a woman). I was still in high school, and a girl I was aquainted with in the threatre department wore a shirt the day after the election that said, "Congratuations Oregon, it's now legal to discriminate." I knew I was gay, but wasn't out, and generally avoided any sort of political discussions with my fellow thespians (I'm rather conservative, which put me in the vast minority there :p). But this one time, against my better judgement, I decided to play devil's advocate and start something with her. I told her, "Y'know, your shirt is wrong; Measure 36 isn't discrimination." She glared at me wide-eyed and said, "Of COURSE it is! How is it not?"
I explained that discrimination is denying a perticular group rights, or to a person because they belong to that group. Banning gay marriage isn't discrimination; a straight man has no more right to marry another man than a gay man does, and a gay man has as much right to marry a woman as a straight man (the same true if you reverse genders). No discrimination happens. She countered with the usual strawman of, "Well, but gays aren't allowed to marry the one they love." To which I just smiled and said, "Love and marriage have nothing to do with each other these days. Legally, they never have." She couldn't think of an acceptable comeback, so she just got up and left. It made me feel alot better than it should.
For the record, of course I think gay marriage should be allowed. I believe churches should be allowed to refuse to marry individuals that don't meet their standards, whatever they may be (which they already can, and I don't think the gov't has any "right" to force a church to anyway), but that courts shouldn't. Ideally, I'd like there to be some sort of interview or "test" to verify the couple (gay or straight) is prepared for marriage in some sense, or at least aren't two complete strangers that walked in off the streets. But sadly I'm a realist, and doubt that will ever happen. I also highly doubt I will see all 50 states allow and recognize gay marriage in my lifetime; maybe my son will be so lucky, but even that I'm not holding out hope for.
What, were they bashing your ex right in front of you new girlfriend? I find that a bit rude, actually. Poor girl was probably sitting there thinking, "I wonder what they'll say about me when I leave tonight."
No after she left.
Only reason it wouldn't is if she decides it's not for her. And, if that happens, you're better off without her.
No no, never, shes awesome.
That's silly. As you've seen, you're not the only one that talks about straight relationships in here, and the gay men love to hear about any relationships, don'tcha guys?
Yay, well I'm leaving for france in a few minutes. Buh bye computer.
Hey, Howler, have you seen the show Pit Boss on Animal Planet?
Yes I have. Honestly... not all that into it. Much like with Little People, Big World, I'm just not their target demographic. I DVR/watch it because I'm pretty good friends with Mikey, who's really close to Ashley who is on the show, and he always tells me to watch it for her. And I admit, Sebastian is pretty good-looking (I've seen pics of him shirtless... :o). But for the most part, I'm pretty "meh" about it.
She countered with the usual strawman of, "Well, but gays aren't allowed to marry the one they love." To which I just smiled and said, "Love and marriage have nothing to do with each other these days. Legally, they never have."
Sorry buddy but I'm not really sold. It actually is discrimination, but not against gays. Defining marriage as being between a man and a woman goes directly against the anti-discrimination measures taken by feminist activists. Marriage has been changed so that the role of the male spouse, legally, has no difference in rights, responsibilities, etc. from the female spouse's role. By defining marriage as being between a man and a woman, you are implying that the role of the female spouse cannot be fulfilled by another male spouse instead, which would only be true if these roles were different in the eyes of the law. So really, by defining marriage as being between a man and a woman, we're discriminating based on gender, not sexuality.
Whoa, crazy story! Thanks for telling it. I'm really glad it worked out well and that now you two know how important it is to fill one another in on such matter and also not to jump to conclusions!
Ok, so as you all know I broke my foot, so everyday actions are more difficult, #1 being taking a shower. Most people in my situation would just take a bath instead and it'd be fine. Only problem with that is we only have a shower. Our house we rent is so small, there's no room for a tub. Solution? Plastic outdoor chair for me to sit in. While it works great at what it's needed for, this also occurs. Seriously, I can see that from my spot on the bed, so that's what I woke up to yesterday and today. He's probably sitting right there right this second! It's sooo funny.
Sorry to hear about your foot! The kitty picture is hysterical though. Whenever I'm sad, I'm just going to imagine seeing that every morning! It looks like he's found a new throne. Oh cats... I want one SO badly, but they're not allowed in the house I'm renting. My roomie and I decided that if we ever get cats, hers will be named Commander Cuddles and mine will be Sir Fursworth.
My name is Elijah and im a history major in college.
Hey Bigmac! Sorry for the late welcome, but it's better late than never! I'm Trent... the Gaymers' favourite straight guy! Also, I'm a vegetarian so I'm really not sure if you and I can be friends
Hey, I think the cutest guys on the face of the earth are nerds because, 9 times out of 10, they're the sweetest, most thoughtful people you'll find.
Aww, I wish more girls thought like this! Well actually they do, but not in a "let's date" kind of way. Haha, regardless, I love the life of a nerd.
On a semi-related note, who here would consider themselves an introvert and who would consider themselves an extrovert? I have a good idea for most of you, but you never know how people come off on the internet versus how they actually behave.
I'd probably consider myself an extroverted introvert. I'm an introvert at heart but I fit in really well in group settings and have no troubles with people. But when it boils down to it, I'm way happier with a good book and some tea than at a party.
Well the court is just as conservative as you'd think it is, but they're not as religious as you'd think. And when it comes to gay marriage, religion is the number 1 obstacle in its way.
Not much new with me. Just working lots and meeting some new people. The girl that I was telling you guys about has been on vacation for the past couple of weeks and won't be back for another week and a half, so I'm missing her a lot.
Oh, and I recently had an Avatar: The Last Airbender marathon with my friend! It was an absolute blast

Then why aren't more feminists protesting gay-marriage bans?
Like I said, this was 6 years ago, and I mostly just wanted to rattle her cage. Though I don't really see how your point invalidates mine about love =/= marriage. They are separate, equally "legitimate" arguments on opposite sides of the same debate.
Was just curious to see what you thought of it, Howler. I've been watching it recently, curious about it. And it seems interesting that Shorty (interesting name) only works with Little People, and that he does things quite a few times the other three consider to be stereotyping, etc.

Again, eh. Some of the gigs he has them do I might consider exploitative, others I wouldn't. And I do admire Ron and Seb for wanting to break away from playing those stereotypical roles and play parts that aren't meant for LPs (though in my opinion, only one of them actually has the talent/potential to). If I lived in the area... yeah, I'd probably sign up with his talent agency, as some of the stuff they do does seem like it'd be fun. He's not as bad as some LP "talent agencies" I've heard of. And FYI, his real name is Francis. Can't imagine why he changed it.
To keep this on-topic with the thread: Ashley on the show is openly gay. They even had an episode pretty much all about her, including having her mom fly out from the midwest to LA to meet her girlfriend for the first time. Ashley explained that she'd told her parents she was gay, but that they always kind of ignored it and tried to pretend they didn't know, so this was pretty tense to watch. It ended with her mom basically saying "I don't necessarily approve of your lifestyle, but you're my daughter and I want you to be happy." It was nice to see.
I don't like Ron. He's a lazy guy, gets people in trouble, constantly makes excuses. When he applies himself, he can get things done. But Seb and Ashley have things going constantly. It amuses me endlessly that Shorty has his guys be Oompa-Loompas and Elves.
And Ashley's interesting. She's openly gay, as in she says she is, but she never really shows it. That is, she has her girlfriend on the show time and again, but there's never (as far as I've seen) anything more than lunches together. It was amusing when they went to see an LP comedian who told her that being an LP and gay was her hook. That felt like a gut punch.
I'm sure we can get along just fine purple lol ugh guys long days r long and lame

I agree. He seems like he'd be fun to hang out with, maybe go out drinking with. But as an employee/coworker, awful.
It amuses me endlessly that Shorty has his guys be Oompa-Loompas and Elves.
And WHAT is so amusing about THAT?!?!?
And Ashley's interesting. She's openly gay, as in she says she is, but she never really shows it. That is, she has her girlfriend on the show time and again, but there's never (as far as I've seen) anything more than lunches together.
I think that's mostly editting. Animal Planet might be a bit hesitant to really show them doing much "couple" stuff like kissing and all. While I doubt AP is homophobic, it's probably safer for them to just not show it; that's not really the kind of stuff you'd expect to see on that channel.
Another example: the crew really don't have all that many LP friends (some, of course, but not alot), but I guess anytime a social event is going to be filmed, they're asked to invite other LPs to it. In my opinion, that's more expoitative of LPs than anything Shorty has them do, but I digress.
It was amusing when they went to see an LP comedian who told her that being an LP and gay was her hook. That felt like a gut punch.
Sad, but true. Comedians make jokes about their life; if the comedian is Hispanic, it's gonna be alot about racial stereotypes; if they're fat, it's gonna be alot of fat jokes. Gay, gay jokes. If you're a Dwarf... where else ya gonna go?

I'll see what I can do about getting some in-uniform pics for you guys.
And who would that be?! Hmmm? I'll fight for that title
I think he's referring to SGT_Chubbz (Jake), but he mostly lurks now, so there's not much competition I think most gaymers had a mancrush on him at some point.

Haha so true, but hey being able to laugh at yourself is an admirable trait All too many people take themselves way too seriously.
I'll see what I can do about getting some in-uniform pics for you guys.
Sounds hot
Well, hopefully I don't overwhelm Tristan. I had him order himself a M11 variety pack that comes with a fat pack, booster box and all 5 of the intro decks, and two deck builder's toolkits. We don't have a local shop within two hours that does FNM, so we're gonna start with the intro decks, then use the cards from the fatpack and boosters and work on modifying the intro decks, then get into the toolkits since they come with inserts explaining the different deck types that come in that particular intro deck and compliment them with the M11 cards
At first I was going to pick and choose some cards and build a deck for him and just order singles to save money, but I think in the long run he'll find it more exciting to have a variety of cards to choose from to build his own decks and stuff.
Also, chocolate cookies. Mm.

I want one SO badly, but they're not allowed in the house I'm renting. My roomie and I decided that if we ever get cats, hers will be named Commander Cuddles and mine will be Sir Fursworth.
Hey Bigmac! Sorry for the late welcome, but it's better late than never! I'm Trent... the Gaymers' favourite straight guy! Also, I'm a vegetarian so I'm really not sure if you and I can be friends

You may have some competition. *cough*
Erm. you do realize some of your friends in here actively eat sausage as often as possible right?...
Like I said, this was 6 years ago, and I mostly just wanted to rattle her cage. Though I don't really see how your point invalidates mine about love =/= marriage. They are separate, equally "legitimate" arguments on opposite sides of the same debate.

And WHAT is so amusing about THAT?!?!?
I think that's mostly editting. Animal Planet might be a bit hesitant to really show them doing much "couple" stuff like kissing and all. While I doubt AP is homophobic, it's probably safer for them to just not show it; that's not really the kind of stuff you'd expect to see on that channel.
Another example: the crew really don't have all that many LP friends (some, of course, but not alot), but I guess anytime a social event is going to be filmed, they're asked to invite other LPs to it. In my opinion, that's more expoitative of LPs than anything Shorty has them do, but I digress.
Sad, but true. Comedians make jokes about their life; if the comedian is Hispanic, it's gonna be alot about racial stereotypes; if they're fat, it's gonna be alot of fat jokes. Gay, gay jokes. If you're a Dwarf... where else ya gonna go?
Have fun in France! Enjoy the food and wine... we miss you already!
And who would that be?! Hmmm? I'll fight for that title
I suppose I can put aside my lack of meat eating just for you! I still love your sauce, though...
Erm... like the mayo or whatever they put on Big Macs.
Aaaaanyways, what did your long day consist of?

Haha so true, but hey being able to laugh at yourself is an admirable trait All too many people take themselves way too seriously.
Really excited about it
Also, I laughed at this:
