Posting largely to avoid prod. I'm away this weekend at a PTQ and then Sunday off, so I'll reread and make post on Monday.
If Iso's PR changes tomorrow, I am more inclined to believe that it is real. There is certainly zero value to be gained by lynching him today, so votes on him are a waste of time. We shall have to see how well he communicates tomorrow - if it's still too bad, I heartily advocate vigging him.
I'm also not seeing very much in the way of actual scum tells. Looks a lot like people jumping on little things. I think that Manders and Iso should stop posting since they have over a third of the thread between them, and let others do some talking - namely the 8(!) people below the modline who aren't me.
Not defensive. I was correcting you because you obviously missed something.

How is this any different than lynching him today? You almost make it sound that tomorrow would be a mercy killing...
Going to barn möbius here. How will we be able to tell he isn't faking the next one, and if you're cool with vigging him why is tonight any different than tomorrow?
I don't think Iso is scum, but it seems like people are being too quick to write him off as an invalid suspect.
How is this any different than lynching him today? You almost make it sound that tomorrow would be a mercy killing...
Eco, why do you keep talking about vigging him? This is the second time you've mentioned it, and someone asked you earlier why you said it, and you didn't answer.
A lot of things bad about Iso's lunch would be bad, but I highly doubt zero value would be one of them.

This typo is something special. Lynching a guy who can't speak provides zero value - even if he is mafia, we get no connections or associations. It's also very easy to justify voting for or against him based on his PR and not content. For Day 1, a lynch that provides almost no info is a terrible idea.
It's the fact that he said it will change - that mitigates the restrictivness of today's and makes it more viable. Sure he can still be lying, and I haven't swapped right over into believing him, but I believe it is now plausible. In any case, he's not stopped it so we have to assume he has it and carry on.
Eco, why do you keep talking about vigging him? This is the second time you've mentioned it, and someone asked you earlier why you said it, and you didn't answer.
Please do so.
I don't recall being asked before, but Iso is a good vig target if he cannot communicate effectively during the game. It's too easy for scum to coast by (real or faked PR) by providing no content. Losing a townie who can't communicate effectively is not a terrible situation. Thus, shooting Iso at some point if his PR gets no easier is a reasonable move, but spending a lynch on him is not (for reasons outlined above)
I think that Manders and Iso should stop posting since they have over a third of the thread between them, and let others do some talking - namely the 8(!) people below the modline who aren't me.

Why should I have to answer any of this in the first place? It's a bull**** question that doesn't mean anything anyway. Like, seriously, you're going to determine whether I'm faking or not? What purpose would there be in faking this particular PR? Does it allow me to not provide content? Does it allow me to actively lurk?
Hahaha, no. It doesn't do any of those. It makes me look like an overly-friendly person. But, hey! Guess what? I ALREADY AM!!
So, are you trying to say that you think I'm scum because I didn't give you a straight answer on this?
1) No, it doesn't. As to why someone would fake that PR, I don't know, and can't read your mind. Nor am I going to speculate on why you would fake that. However, with something so inconsequential, I thought you should have little to no objection to telling us more about it.
2) I'm saying I think it more likely that scum would react like you did as opposed to town. But now you have given me a straight answer, and at the moment I see no reason for you to fake THAT PR.
Hypothetical Situation:
You tell the town that the negative effects for missing your PR are X. The scum now have this information. The scum are thinking to themselves "YAY! Now thay we know how Manders screws up her PR, we can _______"
KJ #211: KJ, you're going to have to walk me through this. Where's the "lie" here? I have a pretty good (i.e. town) feeling about this post if you're saying what I think you're saying, but I want some clarification.
I THINK I explained everything in my post to Manders above. If I didn't, let me know.
MMM is a role that, for whatever reason, the vets on this site just love. Add to that that Iso never read Redux AND, according to him, his PR will change tomorrow, and I no longer believe he is faking.
When I saw his PR, I immediately thought of the one Silent Prophet was faking in Amnesia.
That being said, I see no reason to believe that Iso is faking this PR. And tomarrow, his PR will change. If his PR tomorrow doesn't allow him to communicate as well, THEN we can discuss other options.
Until then, Iso can stay alive IMO.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Ced hit it on the head. I saw something suspicous and was going for a gotcha.

Given what my PR is, there isn't anything they could do. But you didn't know that at the time, now, did you?

Well, duh. It's practically the same PR.

Wait, so you're just willing to believe him, but not me?
Manders: #253: What do you think is the likelihood that he would get lynched had you not intervened?
Seppel #263: Not really. I think that post sounded nervous, but there's good reasons besides being scum to be nervous. As I've already stated, if KJ is saying what I think he's saying in "trying to catch Manders in a lie", then I'm inclined to think he's town. I'm still awaiting a more complete explanation of that though (nb: KJ, I'm still not clear on the whole sequence of events after #303).
TCM #288: Because tomorrow we'd know - regardless of whether he's faking or not - whether his PR(s) are going to continue to be this restrictive. If they aren't, we can get a better idea of his alignment before we decide if we want to lynch him. If they are, then we know that, so we're secure in vigging him.
Manders #291: I don't like this post at all. The notion that Manders wants to get Ced's vote in order to get a claim out there sounds like she's after information, not actually after a KJ lynch.
Manders: #253: What do you think is the likelihood that he would get lynched had you not intervened?
No clue, and we'll never know. Why speculate?
Everyone here knows I won't hesitate to say whatever's on my mind.
Manders #291: I don't like this post at all. The notion that Manders wants to get Ced's vote in order to get a claim out there sounds like she's after information, not actually after a KJ lynch.
Hahahaha, yeah, cause I think he's scum and I think he'll blow his claim, get lynched, the we'll celebrate a scum lynch on D1.
Oh, hi Xander!!
(EP: If this is not acceptable, let me know via PM and I'll use his long-ass name from now on.)
If I cared, i would have said something a while ago. To everyone offgame: "Xander" is a play off of my middle name "Alexander" as my full name is John Alexander Andreotti. My facebook until recently reflected this.
You admit a lot of things would be bad about it, yet are still pushing it?
There is always something potentially bad about lynching an unknown alignment. There is not a single player here whose lynch would have zero badness.
How do you intend to ever prove, during the game, whether he's lying about it or not?
That's my point. Your point of tomorrow will be better makes it sound like him not having the current PR will cement him as town, where as I am saying it means nothing towards his alignment.
Eco, why do you keep talking about vigging him? This is the second time you've mentioned it, and someone asked you earlier why you said it, and you didn't answer.
Seeing his answer still doesn't convince me any less of just dealing with him today, as of currently there is no one I would rather lynch over Iso.

Why does the bolded matter on his alignment? Also the posts he quotes and doesn't quote speak volumes to his alignment. Maybe if I feel less lazy, I can explain that.

I know you don't mind, dear. I was asking EP if it was ok because it's not your username. Have yet to get an answer, so....
I see no reason why he wouldn't allow it, though. Everyone knows who I mean.
That's my point. Your point of tomorrow will be better makes it sound like him not having the current PR will cement him as town, where as I am saying it means nothing towards his alignment.
No, you're misunderstanding me. I only mean it will be better because I truly believe he'll be able to contribute in a clear manner. It has no bearing on his alignment.
Seeing his answer still doesn't convince me any less of just dealing with him today, as of currently there is no one I would rather lynch over Iso.
Then go find someone, please. Because this is just ridiculous. There is no reason to lynch him just because he can't contribute today. Just because he might be lying. He's already said he'll have a different PR Tomorrow. If he is lying, he can't go back on that now cause, if he did, even I'd support a vig shot on him if not a full on policy lynch under LAL.
You never did tell me. What are your thoughts on kill-joy? (If you did, I apologize, I missed it.)

He is clearly going to have a different "PR" tomorrow whether the bolded matters or not.
You never did tell me. What are your thoughts on kill-joy? (If you did, I apologize, I missed it.)
I didn't tell you because I haven't been paying much attention to KJ. I'll take a look at him tomorrow after my shift.
But I concede to your point. What I'm saying is, it doesn't make sense that he'd vote you but call you town. It makes me think there's some other reason for it, but not because he's scum. I don't know what it is, but I plan on asking again day 2 to find out.

I like KJ's attack on you. Sure it comes off a bit harsh, but I think it was a legitimate attempt to scum attempt, and believed you were messing up. From a scum perspective, I could see you purposefully messing up, since your posting restriction is quite frankly, really hard to screw up so to do it twice on purpose would make yourself look like distracted townie.
I am not convinced you are scum, but just something I noticed. He is without a doubt overzealous, but not someone I would put in my scum pile. I am more curious about Flew at this point, as a couple players veered interest at him, and I have never seen him as a scum role (spectated Goo, and Homestar he was town). Does anyone know a good Flew scum game?

As much as I hate logic, Ecophagy is right.

Because it's a BS position to take. Knowing that he's going to have a different PR tomorrow, why would anyone try to get him lynched? Because it's an easy lynch.
And call it mod-gaming if you want, but I really, really don't see EP giving him another PR so restrictive, and this actually reinforces my faith in EP as a mod.
Hahaha, he's already stated that he can't use smilies as letters.
The argument isn't lynch him because of his PR; it's lynch him because he's not posting enough content and seems to be using his PR as a cover for it. While I agree that the first argument is stupid, the second argument has merit. I don't agree with the second argument, but it at least has merit.
@Iso: You've implied recently that you'd like to see k-j under more pressure because you think he's scum. You're now calling me scummy for proceeding with just such an action. Can you clarify why that is to the best of your ability?
Really? Your vote on kill-joy was about as scummy as they come. So much so, that I'm slightly doubting it was a scum action because it was so obviously scummy. I have trouble imagining a scum player that thinks that sort of post is a good idea.
Arcadic feels opportunistic in his attack on kill-joy in 200. k-j is what could be regarded as an "easy target", as he's made a bad attack. What does really get me is Arcadic's response to atlseal's follow-up question in 206 - Arcadic says that his post wasn't particularly strong and that he was "struggling to phrase his feelings, but back in 200 he is attacking k-j strongly and none of the explanations seem at all complicated (fishing, dirt-throwing, etc). Reserving judgment here, though, since atl's question seems like a dangerous one to go around asking.
What are you hoping to gain from this question? I mean, depending on the answers you might get.
I wanted to know if she was faking the PR, because I believe her to be lying about it. I mean, what is the point of it? PR's are meant to make communicating difficult, so that the player has to think creatively, and rewards them for staying inside it. OR, it's is meant to make funny posts, Cyan's rhyming posts for instance.
That PR is neither, and it's completely ambiguous in it's restrictions and penalties. So I don't buy it, and I think she is faking it to look more town. Not something to gun for a lynch for, but I have Manders as leaning scum.
Quote from MH »
Now, a question for you. Why are you focusing only on my PR?
Because I believe you are lying about it, see reasoning above.
@Ced I hope this gives you a better answer for the questions you asked me.
This post of Anak's reeks of something. Fishing? Passively-aggressively accusing Manders of lying about her PR? Both? Yes
More like trying to figure out more details about her PR. That could be taken as fishing, but it was to give me more of an idea to see if she was lying about the PR. I'm not really taking a stance in that post, but I have now.
I am not dealing with this for a full day. I half think your faking, as this restriction is horrible, even more than a MMM. This is such a hindrance that I would seriously consider avoiding EP hosted games if this restriction is real.
So you want to kill Iso because you don't want to deal with his PR? How does that make any sense? It's not like you just said, "He is faking, so that he can hide behind it as scum and have nobody suspect him because he takes no stances." No, you just want him dead, then blame EP for making huge restrictions. Going off this post, I just can't make sense of your vote. Also, you're completely on the fence if he is faking or not, but you want him dead anyway?!
I see nothing but town tells coming from that TCM post. He's showing actual involvement in a key issue currently in the game and actually posting about it. That town TCM behavior, not scum.
Please tell me you don't actually think so high of yourself that you think you can catch someone off a smily. Especially if you've only done it once.
Not at all. A big deal was made in that game about the supposed "irrelevance" of smileys, and I just didn't see the point of Seppel essentially saying "here we go again" when I was right last time.
Flew needs to get in here. He's posted in other games.
You thimnk TCM is coming to conclusions way too fast?
What he's saying is, TCM is showing interest in other players based on other's opinions of them. The first sentence seems like TCM reserves the right to change his mind in case his vote needs to be moved, and the second one waffles on an opinion of k-j, which is actually relevant.
I'm in agreement with Iso. Lets see where this one goes. unvote, vote The Cold Monarch

I THINK I explained everything in my post to Manders above. If I didn't, let me know.
Unvote, vote Zionite
Share this sign with TCM. He seems to have lunch on the brain
I was gonna say I didn't remember voting for Iso this game... Then I remembered RVS. hahaha This is funny.
Pfft, this post just now put you over him. 12-11.
Hahahaha, :wtf:??
WIFOM WIFOM WIFOM WIFOM WIFOM WIFOM WIFOM
*buzzer sounds*
Oh, that's a wrong answer. Johnny, what do we have for our contestant?
Seriously, you said I was hiding behind my PR long after you tried to catch me in a gotcha. Try again.
Then you don't know me.
Given what my PR is, there isn't anything they could do. But you didn't know that at the time, now, did you?
Well, duh. It's practically the same PR.
Wait, so you're just willing to believe him, but not me?
Why?
Hahahaha, why?

Seppel #300: Elaborate, please?
No clue, and we'll never know. Why speculate?
Everyone here knows I won't hesitate to say whatever's on my mind.
Hahahaha, yeah, cause I think he's scum and I think he'll blow his claim, get lynched, the we'll celebrate a scum lynch on D1.
Sounds good, right?

If I cared, i would have said something a while ago. To everyone offgame: "Xander" is a play off of my middle name "Alexander" as my full name is John Alexander Andreotti. My facebook until recently reflected this.
There is always something potentially bad about lynching an unknown alignment. There is not a single player here whose lynch would have zero badness.
That's my point. Your point of tomorrow will be better makes it sound like him not having the current PR will cement him as town, where as I am saying it means nothing towards his alignment.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
I know you don't mind, dear. I was asking EP if it was ok because it's not your username. Have yet to get an answer, so....
I see no reason why he wouldn't allow it, though. Everyone knows who I mean.
Hahahaha, fair nuff.
No, you're misunderstanding me. I only mean it will be better because I truly believe he'll be able to contribute in a clear manner. It has no bearing on his alignment.

Ok.
Fair.
He is clearly going to have a different "PR" tomorrow whether the bolded matters or not.
I didn't tell you because I haven't been paying much attention to KJ. I'll take a look at him tomorrow after my shift.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Then I don't understand why you're unwilling to wait.
Hahaha, fair enough. I shall await it with bated breath.

Just once would suffice.

The GJ way path to no lynching:
That was a review post?
There was not one "if" in that statement.
Hahahaha
@ The bolded: What? What is this supposed to say?
Why are you still voting for Iso? You're wasting your vote.

Scum hunt is what I was trying to say.
I am not wasting my vote, I just refuse to agree with you.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
The one where you reply to three things in the past 20 posts and two of those three replies are joke/fluff replies?
As much as I hate logic, Ecophagy is right.
Also ced, your review is basically "everyone's town except those posting, oh and Flew. He's scum because he talked about PR discussion but didn't actually discuss PR's!" You don't seem to commit to anything beyond getting a vibe, having a gut feeling or pushing for more posting.
I are confused. Could you elaborate, or would you rather wait for some feedback from Flew on his position?

TCM #308: We won't be able to discern his alignment well with such a restrictive PR, which makes him a prime vig target.
Seppel #313: Elaborate means specific examples.
Iso #329: What I got out of this is you think he's being wishy-washy.
Please tell me you don't actually think so high of yourself that you think you can catch someone off a smily. Especially if you've only done it once.
The argument isn't lynch him because of his PR; it's lynch him because he's not posting enough content and seems to be using his PR as a cover for it. While I agree that the first argument is stupid, the second argument has merit. I don't agree with the second argument, but it at least has merit.
Really? Your vote on kill-joy was about as scummy as they come. So much so, that I'm slightly doubting it was a scum action because it was so obviously scummy. I have trouble imagining a scum player that thinks that sort of post is a good idea.
Agreed
Agreed
What makes it feel forced?
Please answer this kill-joy
I wanted to know if she was faking the PR, because I believe her to be lying about it. I mean, what is the point of it? PR's are meant to make communicating difficult, so that the player has to think creatively, and rewards them for staying inside it. OR, it's is meant to make funny posts, Cyan's rhyming posts for instance.
That PR is neither, and it's completely ambiguous in it's restrictions and penalties. So I don't buy it, and I think she is faking it to look more town. Not something to gun for a lynch for, but I have Manders as leaning scum.
Because I believe you are lying about it, see reasoning above.
@Ced I hope this gives you a better answer for the questions you asked me.
More like trying to figure out more details about her PR. That could be taken as fishing, but it was to give me more of an idea to see if she was lying about the PR. I'm not really taking a stance in that post, but I have now.
You're defending Iso very hard. I think he can do that himself, despite his PR.
Unvote
More to come from catching up later today.
I see nothing but town tells coming from that TCM post. He's showing actual involvement in a key issue currently in the game and actually posting about it. That town TCM behavior, not scum.
Like my KJ vote more and more the less he posts.
My wife was on MTV with this video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUutIZg2EpU
Not at all. A big deal was made in that game about the supposed "irrelevance" of smileys, and I just didn't see the point of Seppel essentially saying "here we go again" when I was right last time.
Flew needs to get in here. He's posted in other games.
I don't even remember what we're talking about so you're not getting any.
Who were you voting?
What he's saying is, TCM is showing interest in other players based on other's opinions of them. The first sentence seems like TCM reserves the right to change his mind in case his vote needs to be moved, and the second one waffles on an opinion of k-j, which is actually relevant.
I'm in agreement with Iso. Lets see where this one goes. unvote, vote The Cold Monarch
