I saw it and loved it. Very touching, very funny, and there's a fun game of seeing who grew up in which console generation by seeing when in the movie people laugh.
Also, I'm really hoping Q-bert gets nominated for Best Supporting Actor. C'mon, Academy Awards, make it happen!
Planning to see it myself - but being that yesterday was my birthday and gonna be busy today prepping for a trip gonna be a few days, maybe not even for a week or two if we don't before the trip.
It was a great movie, The only hard parts I found that streched my disbealf was that a) an arcade stayed in bussness for 30 years and b) they still used quarters instead of homemade tolkens.
This movie looks sweet, especially for all the video game references. I might go see it after Skyfall...
Pretty sure it is a better movie than yet another James Bond.
I took my kids to see this. We rarely go to family movies, but I had 3 tickets from my work, so I only had to pay for 1 kids admission. I loved every minute of the movie, especially the little touches(like using the Contra Code). It was a unique spin on a familiar concept(bad guy wants to be a good guy), with thoughtful and likable characters all around. Like many Pixar movies, it touched on the issue of 'can you overcome what is in your nature'? Honestly, I just thought everything about it was fantastic. All of my children are girls, and they all loved it as well(even my 14 year old, who is basically too cool for everything these days).
My son (17 year old gamer) and daughter (15 year old) saw it over the weekend. My son enjoyed it, said i would probably appreciate it more being my time frame of games but it was a decent movie. My daughter hated it, thought it was stupid. Told me notto waste my time. I think I will wait for DVD and check it out.
I first saw the trailer for this when I went to see the new batman movie and I've been looking forward to this ever since. I just can't wait to see this movie, especially since its, from what I've seen, a gamers paradise.

My hometown has two arcades just like that. Only one of them uses tokens.

Please do not have food at the tables. We do not need a messy play area. No, you can not use a Sierra Mist-ic to fetch a Batterspill.
A successful comedy that's playing around in video game land. Not exactly new ground here, but enjoyable all the way through and it had enough twists to not find it totally predictable all the way through. In some ways it felt more like a Pixar movie than Brave did. Wonder if they siphoned some talent.
Is it anything particular about Pixar's style you feel this movie emulated, or is it more because we naturally associate "good CGI animated movie" with Pixar, and thus when we see one we naturally compare them?
It is worth noting that both Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar both share a creative director.
The most interesting thing for me was the short "Paper man", the quality was clearly disney, but the inspiration felt Pixar, it was interesting to see and the message was gorgeous.
The movie itself was excellent (why do i say that? because my kids found even Q'Bert adorable/funny, if a movie can make MY generation of game icons funny/interesting to the iPad/Minecraft generation then it is excellent in my books)

Call me old fashioned, but an evil ascension to power just isn't the same without someone chanting faux Latin in the background.

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.
I saw it yesterday with my girlfriend and we both loved it. It had a good story, good laughs, some nice "easter egg" type things hidden about (I loved seeing Chun Li and Cammy walking around together) and in the end we left the theater smiling. I don't think the makers were trying to make some grand piece of art that would win oscars and get everyone talking. I think they were trying to make a cute and entertaining movie, which they did. I give it two very strong, very dexterous thumbs, way up!
First film in two years that actually almost had me in tears. I dunno, several moments that just felt...emotional for some reason, in ways that animated movies rarely feel for me.
I also loved the twist with King Candy and Turbo. I am usually so good at seeing stuff like that coming and was so excited to be caught off guard

Oh my goodness. Disney's new animated feature takes place in the world of 80s-style arcade games and Halo.
This is a victory for all of human-kind.
Celebrate it by watching the trailer.

Re: People misusing the term Vanilla to describe a flying, unleash (sometimes trample) critter.
1. Drink every time there's a reference to a video game you get.
2. Drink a second time if anyone else in the theater laughs besides your group of people.
This is, of course, to done with soda.
