I have to say that loss to the Vikings really sucks for GB. I would have felt a lot better about them facing the 49ers at home after a bye week then having to go against MN then on the road against the 49ers.... Dom Capers better have his run stopping plan ready.

Dont hold your breath. Peterson is gonna get his. its not so much a scheme issue for GB as much as it is poor tackling. Luckily for GB, you get Ponder outside in the elements which should bold well for the Packers. Packers win 27-17

Basically I am hoping that Ponder losses the game for us. I was at the game Sunday in the Dome and holy F was it loud any time GB had the ball. I actually had a lingering headache for a couple hours after the game. I think that may be part of why McCarthy always defers the kickoff. The beginning of the 2nd half was relatively quiet since a lot of people were not back in their seats yet. My hope is that in GB the Pack will be able to score early enough to make Ponder have to win the game for them out in the cold.
I think that may be part of why McCarthy always defers the kickoff.
The defer of the kickoff is a strategy Bill Belichick started using in New England and has since caught on the for much of the league. The strategy is to have your QB (Tom Brady in its origin) run a 2:00 drive at the end of a half and then start the second half with the ball again.
However, I always hope the Pats get to defer, because I believe most teams are "jittery" at the beginning of the game and this effects the offense more. So I do not want the ball first, I'd rather stop the "jittery" offense and get the ball and go up 7-0...knowing I will get the ball second half once my team has gotten into the groove of the game.

I guess that "jitter" may be what I was referring too. At the game the first few drives were extremely loud and I could tell it was effecting the offense of GB. Then the 2nd half starts and the crowd noise is cut in half at least and GB's offense went right down the field, no problem. It's important in an away game to get that "quiet time" and important to keep your opponent out of that quiet time during home games. Just another bonus to going for that end of the half + beginning of the half double score.

You heard it here folks. Bill Belichek created football. I didnt address this the first time you took this angle months ago but im going to address it now. Belichek is a great coach. But he didnt invent the idea of deferring the football. Teams have been doing that for decades. Parcells did it long before Bill

You are missing the point. Coaches have deferred the kickoff in the past. Belichick was the first to use this as a permanent strategy. He never chooses to receive. He has even spoken about how he dislikes receiving at the beginning of the game. More than half of the teams in the NFL now use this exact strategy, but I swear to you Belichick was the first. When he first started doing it, every announcer would go "Interesting...New England decides to defer." or "Why is New England choosing to defer, I guess they want their defense on the field first." Everyone sounded puzzled, then after much success, well copy-cat league, blah blah blah. etc.

I always believed deferring is a good idea. Not only do you get out the jitters, but you also get to adjust your offense to what the opponent's defense is doing.

I was simply pointing out that deferring wasnt some novel concept perpetuated by Belichek or the Patriots, whether he does it every time or not. It was common practice for me even as a child playing streetball
Broncos - Falcons, I think. I THINK. Because we all now Atlanta's tendency to disappear in the postseason. I hope to Christ that NE doesn't win it, because I dislike NE.
Furthermore:
WHY DALLAS?!?!? WHY??? Is called a SCREEN PASS!!! USE IT once in awhile!!!!
Secondly, I'd be afeared if I was GB. I think Peterson is gonna run a hole through that defense, and as long as Ponder is used as a game manager and not a quarterback, they have a pretty good shot at knocking the packers out.
I like Cincy, but HOU is gonna get it together pretty quick. I think Dalton/Green are gonna disappear.
Upset pick is IND over BAL. The Ravens are too old, and Flacco is not a QB to pin your hopes on. They still have Ray Rice, but he's only one man and the Colts are far more balanced.

Well jeez, I never have an issue when the Cowboys win.
It's alright as a Packer fan I never liked either one! Though recently it's the Giants that really irk me...
Actually now that the Patriots are more on a human level I dont mind them. It was just annoying during that stretch of years that they went to every damn super bowl....
But yeah it's time for someone different. When NE beat St. Louis it was amazing. After that.....it got kinda old. Win by a field goal, win by a field goal, win by a field goal....
Even as a die hard Cowboy fan I found myself rooting for the Giants. And it hurt so bad. It hurt bad for a long, long time. But Denver will take care of NE I think. I hope. As for the NFC....up in the air.

It is this attitude that us New England fan use as the Cherry on top when we do win. It seems like Denver is everyone's team of destiny this year. I choose not to make any guarantees about anything especially this early on in the playoffs. Heck we don't even know it's DEN/NE in the AFC Championship Game everyone has already written in. I will say that if New England packs their bags for a 6th Super Bowl trip in 12 years, we will be there as the underdog if that matchup was the hurdle. In fact I kind of hope it's Denver vs. New England because the Patriots love to use the bulletin board material. It'll be like 2001 against Pittsburgh, I can hear it now Gil Santos: "He we are in Denver for the AFC Championship, and despite the prognostications of doom, the Patriots have shown up today."

Did you use it as a cherry in that undefeated season when every one had already crowned the pats
While the rest of the world may be crowning the Broncos, you can be sure one person isn't: Peyton. He knows what NE can and has done to him in regular seasons and the playoffs. The only reason he has no case as "best of all time" or even his era is due to Brady and those rings. He'll have the broncos working overtime like underdogs themselves if that matchup happens.
That being said, if it does come to pass, as a diehard chiefs fan I have to say Go Pats. There's nothing better about having to live in Denver while detesting their team than waking up the day after they're knocked out of the playoffs. It's like all that orange and blue turns to a very sad shade of grey.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
I see the AFC as a 2 or 3 car race... If Houston stops twiddling their thumbs they could be in it otherwise it's up to Den/NE.... I would be surprised if one of the other teams makes it to the Super Bowl.
One thing I dont like though is why is Manning in MVP talks? Sure he played well... but he played well on a team that got to the playoffs last year, and won a playoff game with Tim Tebow at QB.... the Jets wont even give him a chance to play. Now that Denver has a decent QB and is doing even better Manning is the MVP of the league? I just dont see how that can be said when you could probably put Joe Flacco back there and get almost as many wins... AP on the other hand literally is the MN Vikings. Even if you put Arian Foster on that team they dont make the playoffs. Heck they probably dont win a single game in December.... The guy rushed for almost 1,000 yards in 1 month!
Seems like a fair line. They're in a good position to win twice at Mile High and then the Super Bowl itself is probably a toss-up. You could definitely jump on that.
That said I do think they're overrated (my Colley matrix says they had the 30th hardest schedule in the league and ranks the Texans, Patriots, and 49ers above them, FWIW).
Did you use it as a cherry in that undefeated season when every one had already crowned the pats
Would have had they won. Everyone may have thought they were going to win, but everyone did not want them to win. Let's face it nobody outside of New England has since Spygate and that's fine if they want to hang onto that. However, New England will just keep on winning after it like they have.
From one season to the next the Patriots are just hated and please don't win is the mantra. It really makes us New England fans feel like rogue fans of a team...certainly not bandwagon. The only time the nation backed the Patriots as a bandwagon fanbase was 2001. Since then, let's face it we've been on our own. That's how I like it, real Pats fans only...thank you very much.
All the lines ive seen are 7:2 to give you an idea of where thats at... but that was pre-saturday.
that's what I saw. Love the ray lewis quote BTW. So sad to see him go. Probably the best Middle linebacker to ever play the game. He played the game right. With honor and an emphasis on giving it all.

I don't normally follow football very much but anytime the seahawks are doing well I am on board and go to as many home games as possible. I am for them all the way this year and think it would be great for the rookie qb to lead the team to their first superbowl victory in franchise history. I can really care less about the established teams that keep getting to the playoffs and further every year. That is terribly uninteresting to me and makes me root for the underdawg ever year unless the hawks are in the play offs. Then it's the hawks all the way. I just feel every single team deserves a superbowl title at some point and it shouldn't be 20 to 30 years after the league has been established.
