EDIT: C&P
I recently "inheritted" an eMachine from a family member, and tried to boot it up today. Sadly, all I get are strange beeping sounds. In detail:
It is an eMachine t2200.
L7VMM2 Rev1.0 Motherboard.
Upon trying to turn it on, the monitor does not detect it and thus it never goes into Bios.
The computer beeps approximately once every three seconds- is this an indicator of something?
Monitor: Sony Trinitron 17 In.
I plugged another computer into the monitor and it turned on, so I don't think the monitor has a problem.
The beeping is one beep about one second long (so one long beep), followed by ~3 seconds of silence. Repeat. When it is turned on, a small red light comes on on the motherboard.
The RAM is in there, and everything SEEMS to be plugged in snuggly.
"I never prayed before. I don't even know who I am praying to. Maybe I'm too young to know what the world suppose is to be. But it's not suppose to be this. It can't be this. Please."
I do believe it was outdated and consequently kind of died, and was henceforth un-stuck and then moved to Technical Support, where it fell beyond the first page and such.

I understand that you said everything was plugged in, but is the video card plugged in correctly and secured?
Sounds like it's not a hard drive problem, and has nothing to do with the ram since you can't even get into the BIOS. Check and see if your video card is plugged in, secured by screws or whatever it came with, and is working order.
Make sure that the video card is working properly, and if not tell me. We can work from there.
I can help as well, with both Linux and Windows questions. I also know a Mac guru who may be able to pop in occasionally for those questions.
Also, a link to Microsuck (in my sig) would be nice, simply to provide a venue for assistance with whatever Linux issues that ASF and Senori don't have answers for.

The beeps could indicate a RAM issue, though I'm not positive. Try putting the ram into different slots, and/or try using different ram. The next best bet is that something is wrong with yout motherboard. Or, like it was said before, check your video card.
I tried putting the Ram in different slots, no luck. The Ram came off another computer and was working, so I'm sure thats not it. Tried plugging another video card in, no luck either.

The fan turns on and works fine. When I plug it in,the fan starts up, a red light lights up on the motherboard, followed by a long (approx. 1 second) beep, three seconds of silence, and the cycle of beeps repeats indefinitely.

The redlight can just mean that power is running through the mobo. However, what it probably sounds like is that something is wrong with your mobo, and even though a red light turns on, its not functioning properly.
It's most likely a processor problem if the fan is functioning and running when the computer starts up. Have you opened up the computer and touched the processor area or any part of the motherboard without decharging static and or wearing inconductible gloves?
I'm almost 100% sure the processor is fried, in which case you will need a new one.
This sounds far more likely to be a motherboard problem than a processor problem.
Take a quick look at the capacitors on your motherboard. If you don't know what those are, they're small cylinders that should be standing up off the motherboard, maybe 1/2 an inch tall each. There will probably be a high concentration of them around the processor socket.
Look at the tops of the capacitors. They should be flat and clean. If they are not flat (if the top has actually popped up) or if they appear to have accumulated something that looks like rust, then your motherboard will definitely need replaced.

Do you know what kind of processor socket your motherboard uses? Assuming your processor is still usable, you'll need to make sure you buy one that matches up with your processor.
If you're not sure what kind of processor socket your motherboard uses, and you feel comfortable doing so, you can remove the heat sink to give you a good look at the processor and the socket. There's usually some sort of marking on the plastic part of the socket that denotes what kind it is.

I finally got the computer working :). How do I customize the Windows XP (Home) skins? Right clicking and selecting properties gives some options, but it only gives blue(default), olive? and silver. The link for more customizations just links to screen savers you can BUY. Help, please.
Also, can I change the framerate at which the screen is refreshed? It seems to be really choppy...
Thanks a bunch,

EDIT: Out of curiosity, is there a way to change backgrounds, settings, ect. based on your time of day or other parameters?
Thanks.

I recently instaled kubuntu (v6.06) in my laptop(dell Inspiron 1100)
You know how to get some symbols you need to type alt+numbers, but you need to do it with the numeric pad for it to work, and the laptop don't have numeric pad but it has a "Fn" key to use some keys like the numeric pad(and others like numLock, Print Screen, and to control the volume), the problem is, the Fn+key works, but if I make alt+Fn+key it doesn't work, is there a way to fix it?

1) To your first quest, what I've done is use something called style xp, its not free, however, there is a free 30 day trial. To use this to get permenate skins even after the trial, just save your wanted skin as a .theme file (there'll be an easy to find option in style xp that lets you do this). Then, when your trial is up, just right click on your desktop, go to properties, and then in the drop down box for themes, browse for your theme.
2) To change the refresh rate, right click on your desktop->properties->settings->advanced->then hit the tab that say moniter. There'll be a drop down box for you to change your monitor refresh rate there. The higher the numer you choose, the faster (or is it more often?) your screen refreshes

I'm not sure, I also have a laptop without a num pad, however alt codes with the fn key work fine for me. It may just be that keyboards with the fn keyboard aren't completely supported by kubuntu.
So I go to Windows XP Style... can I change the colors from something other than the three originals :-/.

I found the link for other themes, but all I really want to do is change the colors of the normal XP skins and themes. Does that require a download (and if so where could I find that) or is it something I can change within the program?

You said that it makes some initial noise and then stops right?
If the video card and ram work fine even with swaps and the computer fails to start, then you are probably looking at a fried processor.
Also, do the fans turn on or make noise at all, even during the three second period?
