personally, he was just seriously wierd and totally got out of jail. He really went downhillafter like 30 so really I'm fine with him being dead other than micheal jackson jokes are no longer that funny. Farrah is a much bigger hit though she went wierd later in life too, but she was much more fun.

The death of anyone has some element of sadness but there is no reaction for me to this news any more than there would be if I heard any stranger had died.
As another poster mentioned, the estate will be a horrible train wreck.
duuude! let me tell ya! at the last funeral I was at I got his wedding ring! people are so gullible when it looks like you're crying. Also did some comforting for his daughter. haha. good times. funerals rock -sarcasm-
funerals are dull and pointless. micheal hasn't done anything of any merit in years. could've died years ago and never noticed. It's sad, but true that people pass into obscurity all the time. In the end he became more famous for being crazy and stupid and a molester than anything. I respect his early musical work, but not really him as he took that fame and just ran with it. became more famous just for being famous which isn't right.
now Bernie Mac, that was a loss as he was still doing good all the time.
There was an article I saw earlier this year thay said MJ wanted to leave his share (%50, Sony owns the other half) of the beatles music rights to McCartney. I guess they hadn't spoken since He bought them years ago. It would be nice if that was true.
There's probably no one here that can probably relate to how big a music sensation Michael Jackson was prior to his psychological breakdown. There's really nothing that has ever compared in anyone's lifetime with how much success he had as an artist. Having a beef with the man for what he did in his later years is legit, most people do, but in his prime he was pretty much a musical/entertainment genius, the likes of which has never been seen. What he was able to contribute to society is still valid, even with his moral transgressions. That's why people want to remember him, because many at some point embraced his music and brought it into their lives, allowing it to shape who they are.
So if you see people saying 'R.I.P. Michael' and think they shouldn't be mourning someone you consider a perv, just remember that what he did in recent years is hardly the reason anyone thinks or cares about him. He was famous first because he was immensely talented.

Uh, ever heard of Elvis. He went from nobody to 3-4 songs in the Top Ten at the same time in like 1 year. Dude's fane base and popularity was/is huge.
I really don't pay attention to celebrities but when someone dies it's a shame none-the-less.
you must be in constant mourning then huh? people die all the time and every one of us will die. Caring whether someone dies or not shouldn't be the case. Caring whether they are alive is the right way to look at it. if you don't care if they are alive, then you probably don't care if they are dead (unless they left you something. then you're happy). If people didn't die we as a planet would be in a terrible mess. More people really need to die, which can sound unfortunate or harsh, but it'll help.
That's sad
I wasn't a great fan of MJ, but I liked some of his songs, like Beat It, Thriller and etc. Anyway, I'm gonna miss him, I think we all are going to miss him a lot.
Rest in peace, Michael. =\

Enjoy the living, don't worry about the dead.
This "I DON'T CARE ABOUT PEOPLE WHO DIE I'M SO TOUGH" attitude is so pathetic. This doesn't make you cool or a badass that's flaunting society's conventions, it makes you look like an idiot. If you don't want to mourn or care about the dead that's fine, but keep it to yourself so we don't have to hear about it.
He was one of the most influential musicians of all time. Of course people are going to care that he's dead, especially at such a young age.
I'm still at a loss of what to really say or think. It feels like a sort of mythical childhood hero died today, like hearing that He-man or Rainbow Brite just passed away.
Although it's probably just some kind of delirious optimism. If there ever was a person who might fake their own death...........
I can't help but wonder how being in the public eye almost non-stop from before the age of 10 affects a person.
I still maintain that "Billie Jean" is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, pop song ever. I'll bet they still play it on the radio even 25 years from now.

THE BEATLES. Little more need be said.
To which he owned the rights until 2008. Shame that they aren't back in the hands of any of their members.

I didn't think he or anyone else you've attacked has said anything wrong...
anyways...
I heard its because he wasn't eating right. Any truth to that?
This is unexpected, although I cannot say truly surprising... MJ's overall health (mental & physical) had been in decline for sometime.
Eventually, I suspect the plastic surgery overdoses, the baby-dangling incident, and the allegations of pedophilia will all be more or less forgotten; and MJ's legacy will be simply that of one of the most influential figures in the history of American (and possibly world) music.
Farewell, Michael. Troubles haunted and hounded you for years... may you rest now in peace.

Again, the span of Jackson's fame is beyond The Beatles, his album success is greater, and the quality of performance is, by most critics, considered to be of an uncomparable quality. 'Little more need be said' pretty much is the fact that there is nothing to say, as your claim is unreasonable with no avenues with which to make such a claim.
Also, saying that the Jackson 5 was about 5 people, divided 20% of the fame to each, isn't realistic.
I'm not a Jackson fan, I probably like 2 songs out of his entire career, but to say that other artists have the kind of success or fame is to just ignore the facts that pertain to how musical success is deemed and achieved.
I didn't think he or anyone else you've attacked has said anything wrong...

Sorry if I overreacted, but it's just so annoying to have an RIP thread and always have someone come in with that attitude. This isn't really the place to discuss your feelings on how mankind views the loss of a life, it's a place to honor and remember one of the most influential musicians ever.
How was that infraction-worthy? Albeit a little rude and short-spoken, it was his opinion on the subject.
MJ contributed a great deal towards music, but i felt his time fading as soon and allegations were being made against him, his family, and the Neverland Ranch. He was on a downhill spiral by 2006- I already saw things ending for him by then. So abrubtly though, was another thing.
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
Rest in peace, Michael.

Now his family (sans Janet) & legions of debtors will begin fighting over the estate...if anything's actually left. It won't be pretty.
Hopefully his music will live on for a good while. I like pretty much all Jackson5 & grew up during Beat it/Thriller era. Good times.

Elvis has never had the world wide fame Michael Jackson did. Michael Jackson had 3 number 1 hits at the age of 11. Not nearly the same thing.
I wasn't a great fan of MJ, but I liked some of his songs, like Beat It, Thriller and etc. Anyway, I'm gonna miss him, I think we all are going to miss him a lot.

Actually that was the Jackson 5...not Michael Jackson.
The guy was definitely a little off his rocker and i have no respect for pedophiles but there is no proof that he is one.
He made a huge contribution to the musical community and will be missed by many.
