This isn't strictly worse than sphinx's revelation, but it won't see any standard play. It's at least better than thoughtflare typically, but again it's just a worse sphinx's revelation. I love the card opportunity, but it won't have any standard impact. In limited it's usefulness is determined by how fast the format is.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Wow, I thought they were dialing back on the instant speed multiple card draw? I guess once you print Sphinx's Revelation, all bets are off.
The pendulum swings. It looks like we're getting better card drawing in blue for the time being, like red got much better burn during the time of Lightning Bolt's return. Just don't count on it lasting forever (just like Lightning Bolt).

Yeah, this is a safe reprint due to Sphinx's Revelation just generally being better.
I have a T2 Mono blue deck and all it needed is a big draw instant.
I like the new art, it looks strange on a magic card, but its an really beautiful image
I know Maro wants all card draw to be targetted, so that player shroud works proper.
I wonder if this card is a hint to that. With all the other M14 lingo changes...
I agree. Given some of the almost-functional-reprints we've seen in core sets I think this is a pretty strong indication of who won that particular Point/Counterpoint.
Jace's Ingenuity never really saw too much play, this isn't too much better.
Did this ever see much play in the past?
No. It was legal at the same time as Stroke of Genius. If you could cast this, you could cast stroke and stroke was a lot more flexible.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.

What standard format did you play in? Jace's Ingenuity saw tons of play before Feast and Famine arrived. Black Blue Control Mirror's relied on JTMS and Ingenuity.

IIRC, it saw some play in the ramp-y BUG variations of Psychatog decks back when it was last in Standard.
I'll have to dig through Maro's blog, but I believe he said R&D was more willing to give blue instant card craw while dialing back counterspells.

That left eye. She shall forever be known as "Erpperternity."
Oh my God, can't unsee. Too funny. : )

They (and I) aren't fans of the "I have both Mana Leak and Think Twice, whether you play a spell (or don't), I win!" game.
