Hi, I'm building this deck at the moment and have a few questions.
1. Is there a consensus on how many Cliques should be run? I've seen 1-3 in lists.
2. Are Mindcensors necessary? Again, I've been seeing 0-3 in lists.
3. What's the preferred finisher? I've noticed that lists have been shifting towards TMaw but Baneslayer was also popular.

1. Depends on meta and how much hand control you need. 1-3 sounds great.
2. Same with mindcensors... if your meta doesn't have much searching of libraries, drift towards 0 and if it does drift higher. Whether you MB or SB is up to you.
3. I actually don't run either Baneslayer or TMaw as a finisher. TMaw is better if you see a lot of tokens/soul sisters/Lingering Souls. Baneslayer gives you better sustain and is quite resilient. Either is great once again.
I'm sorry that none of these answers helped, because I'm sure they didn't... but each question you asked depends on local meta and personal preference as far as playstyle goes. I don't think anyone can really answer any of these questions. If you want my preference to these questions though:
1. I run 3
2. I run 2 sideboard
3. I prefer neither.

pretty much what JPO said.
1. i run 1, because i only have 1. i think i'd like to run 2.
2. i shut down library searching in other ways (ajani to tap pod, stony silence, counter magic)
3. baneslayer and thundermaw is a totally different playstyle. there's a list that keeps destroying MTGO dailies with thundermaw, mindsensors, etc. but that's generally not what GoST is all about.
Mindcensors really depend on your metagame. In mine there are lots of Pod and some scapeshift, too, so it's good to have one or two MB (or SB for sure). I don't run any of the finisher you talked about, i have 1x batterskull SB and i just rely on colonnades and flying guys (angel token, restoration, vendilion). I used to play 2x vendilion but now i think i am going 3x.
BTW i am definitely testing and i CANNOT find a build i like. i tried with and without Batterskull, Command, Mindcensor, Ajani, Restoration, and i am not satisfied at all. I even try to shift to a total control build with verdicts and wraths main, sphinx and stuff, but no way. I am totally upset with Blue in actual modern.
Really? What is it that has upset you? I've never been in a happier place with blue in modern (granted my main deck is mono blue merfolk that is a BLAST to play and blue in this deck is more the tempo-setter than the main attraction).

Same here, i really like both this deck and the control version, they are great decks and i enjoy playing them a lot, which adds to my game.
Do you think you can point out to whatever it is thats bothering you?
I love this deck but it has some very rough matchups. In my local meta many people have started playing Thrun, the last Troll to hose me and the other 2 UWR players at our shop. Is there any way we can deal with Thrun? Also Loxodon Smiter gives me some trouble with only 4 Path to deal with him. My deck has had a lot of trouble dealing with decks that go over the top with big creatures.

i can't really point that out. I just feel that with my usual list (3x clique, 2x resto, 4x snap, 3x GoST) i have too few threats. I usually control in the first turns, and than cast a flying guy (+ colonnade) to finish my opponent. But sometimes it's hard because manlands stop colonnades and my guys are 1 thoughtness. Plus, many modern decks only become better with turns passing by (GW, Jund, Etc) so it comes a moment when you run out of removals and they just have bigger creatures than you so they win the race. Plus, restoration angel does not seem to be so effective so i tried to switch him for mindcensor, but a 2/1 dies so easily and i have no big blockers (a 3/4 resto could stop effectively a 3/4 tarmo i.e.). I tried to play more aggressively (force GoST t3 and burn everythng down) but against decks that play more than one creature a turn it becomes hard to make GoST pass. I enhoy playing this deck a lot since i love color combination, but it does not seem to be SO effective anymore. I tried Ajani out, but i don't like to tap myself out at all, plus he needs a permanent to be already tapped, and usually dies in a few turns without being so effective.. I don't even seem to find the right combination of istants. Remand is lacking effectiveness these times. I am trying to go 2x snare, 3x remand, 2x leak, 2x command, but it seems like i'd always want something else in hand. I dunno, i just cannot find the right list anymore after i played the same one for plenty of time. Now that Voice of resurgence has hit modern, this is becoming harder and harder.
Im still loving the list and play style personally, however you got to make sure you sideboard properly in the certain matchups. Some of the time, it IS the right choice to side GoST out of your deck.

Well, its kinda hard to give advice on something so vague unfortunately.
To be honest, resto is pretty mediocre right now, and even clique isnt what he used to be, maybe he will get better with the legend rule, but for now i dont want a x/1 on my deck, even if it has flash.
On the matter of tapping out, its true that tapping can be a huge deal against certain decks, but i can guarantee that ajani is worth it. The ability to screw with the greedy mana bases together with tyectonic edge shouldnt be underestimated, and he puts a lot fo pressure on the opponent to answer him immediatly or risk a -7.
I think if he gets killed on the spot, its most likely because you played him wrong, i have casted him a lot and only got him killed like 2 or 3 times, and all of them i reconized as my mistakes.

agree on ajani
as for clique, i enjoy him as a singleton. i don't care about his 3/1 body, though it helps--i'm more concerned with ridding my opponent's hand of karn/lilly/pod.
May I suggest a second look on Lightning Angel? It shines on the aggro matchup, where even Geist sucks at times (when you can't burn blocks and attack with your ghost).

This is what I have been doing and it works pretty well even without sideboarding. It can be simply said as just a change of focus, a change of plan, a change of role or whatever you want to call it. Focus no more on the board state, and turn your eyes to look at your opponent's life total, start your mental calculation, and then go all out for his/her face like playing RDW/Burn combined with aerial attacks and finally steal the game away. This versatility that allows one to so conveniently switch modes is what makes this deck so special (yet challenging to master), and the ability of the pilot to recognize when a change of gameplan is necessary and be able to switch his/her role without hesitation comes from practice and more practice.
Honestly, chances are Thrun won't be the only thing on their side of the board attacking or blocking.
I actually like the card sideboard if your meta needs it. You have how many spot removal spells to deal with the others? I personally don't have anyone else locally running UWr midrange or Jund so I don't need to worry about it. It could be just what someone would need though.

Anyways, we are making thrun to be too much of a deal, IMo.
I have wonm a load of games when my opponent resolves a thrun on T4. Thrun by itself is a 4/4 hexproof, nothing more. Its easy to block, and not a win con by himself.
Its different if your opponent equips him with a sword, a batterskull, or something like that, but by himself, trhun posses little worry.
The simple fact that if we resolve a geist, thrun cannot attack without risking a counterattack is enough proof of what im saying.
Honestly, chances are Thrun won't be the only thing on their side of the board attacking or blocking.
My main strategy with using Celestial Flare against Thrun would be to board in board wipes against Pod and GW Hatebears, then kill everything else, then try to Celestial Flare Thrun while he's isolated. This deck's massive amount of removal really helps isolate Thrun (although booting swinging manlands will be a pain).

Also, with the 4-5 toughness creatures... A flashed Snapcaster + Lightning Bolt/Helix does the job quite nicely. Or a Bolt + Electrolyze. There are ways of making it work. (:
