I don't know if this is a "deck" aside from myself playing it, but I have been playing around with and brewing this since December 2012. I will include all my notes as to how the deck has run and changes I have made since I started actually testing and running this deck at my local store.
Notes:
The deck utilizes different control cards which require the loss of life to work. The strategy is very simple; lose life, cast death's shadow. Clear the way for it to swing. Then fling it for the kill. I have only had a month to test and play around with it, but, so far so good. The first week was rough because I had over estimated an acceptable loss of life, I have found that 9 is somewhat the safest as it allows death's shadow to be out of bolt range and still close enough to get there when I am ready to "go off"
Record at my local shop:
6/22/2013 1-3
A lot of issues with having action cards and drawing too much land. Gonna try to change the list to jund with a white splash and go with a Varolz build to get extra value from my creatures
-1 Sacred Foundry
-3 Arid Mesa
-2 Vendetta
-3 Rite of consumption
+2 Overgrown Tomb
+1 Stomping Ground
+3 Varolx, the scar-striped
+3 abrupt decay
s/b
-3 Path to Exile
-4 Mortify
+1 Abrupt Decay
+2 Maelstrom pulse
+2 Disenchant
+2 Vendetta
6/1/2013 2-1
Happy with changes, lost to b/w tokens because I miscalculated and could have won next turn with 2 more life lost.
5/25/2013 3-0
Pre tournament changes
+3 Spellskite
+3 Rite of consumption
-3 Ranger of Eos
-3 Disciple of Bolas
4/13/2013 2-2 - Leyline of Sanctity proved to be very difficult to work around
Changes made
-4 Spellskite
-4 Sign in Blood
+4 Dark Confidant
+4 Vexing Devil
s/b
-2 Timely Reinforcements
-2 Surgical Extraction
-3 Lingering souls
-3 Path to exile
+2 Dismember
+4 Spellskite
+4 Mortify
4/6/2013 2-1 Only loss was to Bug infect, tapped my lands incorrectly, had next turn kill.
3/30/2013 3-0 Learned a lot first week, played it safe when necessary, still tough to lose life at will
Changes Made
-2 Plains
-2 Mountain
+4 Verdant Catacombs
3/23/2013 1-2 First time playing it outside of solo runs, played too aggressive, got killed by burn
So this is what I have after all the testing and changes I have made.
Wouldn't you want that one red creature that can get pumped with Phrexian mana?
Moltensteel Dragon is the card you are referring to. I originally had disciple of bolas as almost a reset type effect if I was getting too low of life and didn't have any cards in hand, I also had Ranger of Eos to hunt down my shadows and devils, the issue I found with 4 mana creatures/spells was that I don't want too many land as this is more of a combo deck and land doesn't do me well, I am more looking for speed and a clock rather than sitting on things until I am there. Not a bad idea, I might test it, I just think the Jund build with the white splash was a better option overall. I think at 4 mana plus 4 life the dragon is a little too expensive to run safely in the deck. It would be a great drainer but that hasn't been an issue whatsoever in this deck. Thank you for the input though!
@Darkest Light - Thank you very much. I have been refining it each week for 7 months now, been testing it in tournaments for 4 months now and so far I am extremely satisfied with the progress. I think the new direction with Varolz and deathrite is the way to go since I had a lot of issue with U/W/x control variants. Counter magic used to hurt me a lot, with Varolz and deathrite I have found that nothing is wasted anymore.
I missed that one. Definitely a possibility. That one I shall have to test. Thank you for the correction. The deck has been a lot of fun and I have had a lot of people caught off guard due to it's suicide black nature then I "go off" and I get a lot of dropped jaws.
Played the same list I have posted today. Went 2-1
Mono U tron - 2-1
First time beating tron with this deck, everything went as I would have liked it to go.
Raffinity 2-0
This is usually a very good match up and it continued today.
B/W Tokens 0-2
This seems to be my kryptonite. Every time I come up against this deck I end up either mana flooded or mana screwed.

I think he's refering to Immolating Souleater.
Deck looks really fun.
