I'm not about to go through it all right now, but it's worth noting that the M14 card image gallery now has a bunch of cards in it. (None of them are new.)
...one which I'm not going to take up right now. I need to be getting to sleep soon.
But my point was less "hey you can read the numbers" and more "hey you can count the spans". Yeah, the missing two cards may screw things up somewhat, but it should give us a pretty good idea.
Nightmare will be in the set, but it will not be anything resembling a horse...
Allen Williams had permission from Jeremy to show the original pencil art for the card at Spectrum Fantasy Art Live 2 in Kansas City the weekend before last. It looks like something out of a Lovecraft novel...truly awesome detail at full page size. One could have taken it home for a mere $500...
Allen didn't know anything more about the card stats; he knew the name and that it was coming in M14. If I have time in the morning, I'll post a pic of Allen at his booth with the new Nightmare art on the table.
Can you point me to this Forsythe article? Thanks.
I'm sure you can find it. (That's nice-speak for LMGTFY) It's from the M13 previews and says they opted to keep them in for M13 but would not reprint them in the following core set. Check all the authors in case I've misrecalled it as having been Forsythe.

I'm pretty sure you are misremembering. Zac Hill made a comment about them in Latest Developments, but didn't outright say they weren't back.

Don't know what LMGTFY stands for, but I did look for recent Forsythe articles, and the last one is quite old and doesn't mention the core lands. So yeah I'm thinking you are talking about another author, which is why I asked for directions. Will look into that Zac Hill piece again but I always read the important articles and I don't remember seeing confirmation the lands won't be back.
Edit - He mentions things aren't as exciting when they come back for the 3d or 4th time, and them mentions the core lands being back in M13. He doesn't say anything stronger than that, so the assumption that "it's unfortunate" means "it's not in" is quite a stretch in my book. To me, we have a 50-50 shot of either "reprint the corelands" or "make/reprint another set of lands", which makes the corelands more likely than any five-card cycle individually. I'd rather wait for more information.
Battle of Wits reprint not ruled out yet. Hopefully we find out soon, so I'll know whether I'll actually care about Standard or buy product for the next year.

So it's looking like Mutavault isn't going to be in MM, anybody think there is a good chance it will be in M14? it works well with slivers, and it shouldn't be omnipresent in a format that we are in now that is super multicoloured.

Probably no room for it in M14 but it does seem like a good reprint candidate in that its power depends on the power of the format it is in, the way Thoughtseize does.
Thus far, there currently does not seem to be any indication that this core set shall contain legendary permanents and/or multicolored cards, despite the fact that the previous core set did. Was Magic 2013 simply a rare exception? If so, I shall be very disappointed with this core set compared to the previous core set.

M13 had 6 legendary cards, 5 being a creature of each color and one being an artifact.
The creatures were all at rare and we currently know half of the rares. Still a good chance for legendary awesomeness.
Why is WotC reprinting cards such as pacifism and cancelagain?! Can they not leave out those cards from a single core set? And will pacifism at least have new artwork, I hope?

Yes, I shall remain hopeful, since there are still many cards of this set that have not yet been revealed.

Cancel was not in last year's core set. There's still room for Odric, Talrand, Krenko and Yeva, but Wizards might print new mono-colored ones since Neferox is not going to be in the set.

I think, of those, Talrand is the most likely to be reprinted, since he was easily the most popular, from what I've seen.

Note that Cancel wasn't in M13 probably because it was slotted in for Return to Ravnica, so it didn't need to appear twice in the same rotation. Cancel in M14 is a signal that it won't be in Theros.

That makes little sense, since Mind Rot and Naturalize and Wind Drake still made appearances in RtR block after appearing in M13.

The missing spans indeed seem to be in red, because they don't fit with known numbers > no full cycle of extra lands
