Goblin Festival2R
Sorcery U
Sacrifice a non-goblin creature. Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control. In the jungles of Naya, the goblins discovered that life could be celebrated rather than feared.
IIW: Allied colored triggered abilities and effects.
Cunning of the Demonlord1B
Sorcery (U)
Destroy target creature. If U was spent to cast Cunning of the Demonlord, put the top five cards from the library of that creature's controller into his or her graveyard. If R was spent to cast Cunning of the Demonlord, Cuning of the Demonlord deals 2 damage to that creature's controller.
Call of SedrisXBB Sorcery [R]
Put target creature card with converted mana cost X or less from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control. When you cast Call of Sedris, if X is 5 or more, copy Call of Sedris. You may choose a new target for the copy.
Khash, Grixis SpellslingerXUBR

X can't be greater than 3.

Cunning of the Demonlord1B
Sorcery (U)
Destroy target creature. If U was spent to cast Cunning of the Demonlord, put the top seven cards from the library of that creature's controller into his or her graveyard. If R was spent to cast Cunning of the Demonlord, Cuning of the Demonlord deals 3 damage to that creature's controller.
IIW: A Theros money card.
Cheaper murder with additional bonus effects? I'd at least add :manab: to the cost...
Cheaper murder with additional bonus effects? I'd at least add :manab: to the cost...
Sorcery speed hurts it a bit, esp. when compared with something like Terminate. I think it could be safe at 2B, although the idea is to trigger only one of those things. At 1B, maybe drop the mill to five cards and the damage to 2.
Call of SedrisXBB Sorcery [R]

IIW: stuff for tempo decks
I don't know how to describe how weird this card is. Why isn't this just a kicker? It's basically a binary cost except when Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder is on the battlefield.

IIW: More spellslingers!
This doesn't work the way you want it to. When the ability triggers, X will be undefined. All permanents that have X in their cost use replacement effects except for Venarian Gold, which is weird and should use one.
This really should be be:

Khash, Grixis Spellslinger can't be kicked more than three times.
When ~ comes into play, choose one for each time it was kicked -- draw a card, or destroy target nonblack creature, or ~ deals 3 damage to target creature or player.

You could also go with:

Cycling
When you cycle ~, if was spent to pay its cycling cost, destroy target creature. If was spent, destroy all enchantments. If was spent, destroy all artifacts. If was spent, destroy target land. If was spent, return up to two target permanents to their owners' hands.
I wasn't certain if the Muteable Steel was bad, good or too good. Have to be careful with those kinds of cards...

For the same reason you used bland flavor text to explain your entry. Because Alara and I don't care.
For the same reason you used bland flavor text to explain your entry. Because Alara and I don't care.
I was going to say something snarky back, and then I realized it also interacts with cascade, so never mind.
My thing uses bland flavor text because all of the U/R stuff in ARB that isn't just straight outta Grixis uses bland flavor text. I wasn't sure where it should take place.
Okay, quick lunchtime judging while skiving off at work.
AsianInvasion: Snazzy concept, but holy crap is this overpowered. He uncounterably tutors an artifact into play, essentially doubling your mana for the turn. Also, not legendary, so flavorfail. 3.5/5
arbitraryarmor: I appreciate your dedication to ugly mana costs. It's a decent enough card, but it feels weird being primary in black, since it's really a red effect with some black/blue shenanigans tagged on. 3/5
AmShegar: I take it back, arbitrary - AmShegar wins the ugly mana prize. I like the hijacking of Skullbriar's tech to make Devour and Unearth synergize even better, too. It feels a bit more green/black mechanically, but hey, it's a dragon so it gets a pass. 4.5/5
Cythare: Eh, sure. I guess. Basically a pinger except in multiplayer, where it turns your earthquakes and such into timewalks. I think I'd like it better if it couldn't ping - it'd feel more rewarding to the Johnnies out there. 3/5
Crustacean Crusader: Bad Demonic Tutors are still crazy overpowered. The exile clause makes this less of a toolbox-enabling card, but I imagine combo players would make a rather large mess in their pants if this was printed. Also, no mechanical Alara flavor. 2.5/5
pstmdrn: Why is it a goblin festival if other creatures get the benefit, too? Also, goblins don't really sacrifice other creatures - they've got that covered on their own. This is really more of a black or maybe green card than anything. 2/5
PonchoPonceN: Sorcery speed undercosted Murder is fine. The blue rider is almost meaningless, but I imagine rakdos decks would like the extra damage. 3.5/5
The Cooler: Neat card. I like the riff on Banefire. 4/5
ertaisfamiliar: Templating debates aside, it's basically a value wet dream. Draws cards, ambushes creatures, deals damage, kills creatures...it's a 5-for-1 if you pull it off right. And it's boring. There's no trick here, no puzzle to solve, no unique abilities, no reward for the deckbuilder. It's just value. 2.5/5
spaceyjdjames: 5 color shenaniganery plus wacky cycling costs...I want to like it, but it all mushes together into an incomprehensible mess. The asymmetry in the effects of the cycling riders bugs me, too. 1.5/5
Ink-Treader: Nice! Simple, elegant, taking an Alaran mechanic into subtly different design space. Also unbelievably awesome with Enchanted Evening. 5/5
The Most Curious Thing: I get that it's an esper card hating on its enemies, but it feels weird for a monowhite card to have such off-kilter protections. If it was blue-white or three-colored, sure, but as mono white I'm just not buying it. I mean, the only reason Mirran Crusader works is because of the whole Mirran/Phyrexian conflict and even then it's a little weird. 3.5/5
I was going to give it to Ink-Treader, but then I remembered that AmShegar also won the ugly mana prize. That's got to count for something, enough at least to push them into first place.
The next challenge: Cards for an underground setting!
Of course Cave-In is already a card... Consulting thesaurus, dictionary, and gatherer...
RockfallXRR
Sorcery (U)
Each land you sacrifice while casting Rockfall pays for 1.
Rockfall deals X damage to each creature and each player. In a subterranean world, a simple cave-in is much like a violent earthquake and a devastating hailstorm combined.
And my card is white. Just like Hierarch plays lopsidedly with the one ally color and the one enemy color that are in its shard, my design plays lopsidedly with the one ally color and the one enemy color that aren't in its shard.
Winding Tunnels
Land (Rare) T: Add 1 to your mana pool. 4, T: Exile target creature. Return it to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step.
Sorcery U
Sacrifice a non-goblin creature. Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.
In the jungles of Naya, the goblins discovered that life could be celebrated rather than feared.
IIW: Allied colored triggered abilities and effects.
[Clan Flamingo]
Sorcery (U)
Destroy target creature. If U was spent to cast Cunning of the Demonlord, put the top five cards from the library of that creature's controller into his or her graveyard. If R was spent to cast Cunning of the Demonlord, Cuning of the Demonlord deals 2 damage to that creature's controller.
Thanks for the suggestions!
