Whats going to be used with agent of the fates to make it playable exactly? Black wants to play a slow grindy game. A 3-2 is pretty dorky, albeit one that can trade up. It doesn't want to bother with cheap cantrip type instants. Thats why that card, while powerful seems a bit weak - for now. Mono B splash white for Blood Baron makes the most sense. Allows you get some other white sb cards as well against enchantments.
G/W Aggro, G/R Aggro and Mono Red aggro are looking pretty strong. Grixis control will be pushed, but I don't think it will make top tier. Lastly I think Dega Control will be the sleeper of this format. Tons of disruption with thoughtseize, Rakdos' Return, and Lifebane Zombie. Desecration demon is proving his worth and Blood Baron and Obzedat are absurdly strong. Finally Anger of the gods is the sweeper they needed. However, Burning Earth will eventually come in to hate it out if it gets too popular.

Thassa costs 3 mana with a very relevant costless passive which requires you to do nothing to activate. The problem isn't Thassa, it's the fact that U devotion is pretty difficult to maintain because of the lack of good UU monsters.
Blah blah duals, but nobody usually cares about duals that enter tapped. Did the ZEN Refuges get used at all? Nope, fetchlands are better. How about guildgates before the impending rotation? Very rarely, since Shocks + Buddies are plenty of dual-color saturation with very little chance to disrupt tempo. IronPlushy wasn't wrong, though calling people "terrible" for needing them is a bit absurd.
At any rate, I think some mono-decks are looking pretty strong at the moment. White Weenie is poised to be pretty quick, with so many strong low drops (two 2-power one-drops, plus Boros Elite, a ton of bears with upside) and Brave the Elements to force an alpha strike against the bigger midrange decks + protect from Anger of the Gods. Both Red and Black have strong devotion-based fireballs. Nykthos rewards devotion as well. Green can get either incredible speed from their mana dorks + Nykthos or incredible threat density with so many good fatties. ... Sorry Blue.
As mentioned, Gruul should still be good and Selesnya may come into power as well (though I think :symg:-Devotion will be better). Personally I've just been waiting for some Golgari concoction to come into being, simply because Dreg Mangler and Varolz are really good... not to mention Desecration Demon in-color, which is a really dumb card right now since all of Innistrad's awesome removal is rotating out and leaving us with... Doom Blade which can't hit it. Obzedat Whip is just a silly combo, dunno if that'll get its own shell or will basically be "mono-black splash Obzedat" since Whip is great with Gray Merchant too.
I really hope Mono Red is good, because that's what I'm running regardless.
I think it'll be worth it to splash white (especially since we'll have two decent duals to do it with plus guildgates) for things like Warleader's Helix and Boros Charm. Dealing 4 seems pretty relevant.
I feel like U/W is set up pretty well with Elspeth, Sphinx, and lots of tempo cards. The only issue will be consistency with only 8 duals in those colors (people will use the guildgates if they have to).
B/W seems excellent. Someone mentioned mono Black splash White for Blood Baron... Obzhedat is a thing, and Merciless Eviction became relevant since everything seems to be an enchantment now. If mono Black does take off, Crypt Ghast might see some play. The extort on him doesn't hurt.
Take what I have to say how you will.

I think there will be a lot of decks that aren't particularly well tuned playing all kinds of sweet expensive spells, I'll probably play a G/W midranged deck since I feel like aggro is the best deck to be playing right now this early on (and a G/W deck matches up well with that). When people are screwing around for the first 2 or 3 weeks an aggro deck with a decent curve can just blow all these decks out. I also like the idea of playing a deck that gains life as an added bonus, my rough core is something like this:
-Voice
-Ooze
-Fleecemane lion
-Smiter
-call of the conclave
-advent
-trostani
-mana elf
-selesnya charm
-archangel of thune
Sprinkle in some verdict/anger of the gods hate cards and maybe some planeswalkers and you have a deck that attacks well, blocks well and doesn't have issues getting run over by aggressive strategies that look so juicy right now.

ETB tapped dual don't get used when there are better alternatives. What would you say are the current better alternatives to Scrylands for duals 4-8?
Anyone who thinks these lands won't see play in nearly every single Competitive 2+ color deck (assuming those colors have a Temple) in Standard until either:
1. They rotate, or
2. WotC prints a better dual land (two better duals if it's after Shocks rotate)
redthirst is redthirst, fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. He was the leader of the Fires of Salvation, the only clan I'm aware of to get modded off the forums so hard they made their own forums.
Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
What do you guys think the new craze of deck making is going to be in the light of theros? Which deck will everyone start playing?
I'll go with Nightveil Specter, NightyNightSpector - they've already more than doubled in price in the last couple weeks! Boros Reckoner and Nightveil Specter are the best devotion enablers but it's probably too early for any good devotion lists thought they'll be popular.
G/W and U/X control will be the top players in the first few weeks, imo.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
Mono black control is going to be a big thing no matter who says otherwise. And its going to be a real ***** to deal with.
Green Devotion with Nyela will see alot of play. It is without a doubt the easiest devotion trigger there is and there are already so many great green cards to use with it.
I really hope Mono Red is good, because that's what I'm running regardless.

Yeah, I think mono red will be a thing. I mean hey, they have some good cards. I can't imagine mono red is going to be bad.

Post rotation Green is going to be retarded OP and it's that exact reason Mono Black and B/u are gonna be huge.
I know a few people in here want G/W to be a thing, I do too "WTF would they print Fleecemane lion????" and all that but I'm sorry its just not "in the cards". All your best hitters are early game and you only gots guildgate bros!
Same reason I'm probably gonna avoid rakdos until the first expansion.
Whats weird speaking of mono-black is that Brad and evan completely disregarded Dark Betrayal in the Set review saying its narrow garbage. I think their high. I think every black deck is going to run 2-3 sideboard for mirrors without exception.
Between Mistcutter Hydra and Stormbreath Dragon I don't expect control to do much of anything.
I expect to see a lot of BTE aggro, RDW, and ramp. If there is a control deck it will not include white.
Maybe if the GR deck is good but I don't really see it being a thing. Both Mistcutter and Stormbreath feel like sideboard material to me but everyone is going crazy about the dragon and will surely run it main.
I think Sphinx's Rev decks are still going to be at the top and there's nothing else that I've seen that will threaten that

There isn't much flying. Stormbreath doesn't need thundermaws ping/tap ETB. There usually isn't anything in his way to start with. Even if there is he is bigger than they are.
Arbor Colossus is going to see a lot of sideboard play and possibly main. 6/6 body for 5 mana is huge and he is the ONLY triple green in the format (rumblebelt raiders isn't a card). His monstrous is on curve when his casting cost. Guy is just solid.
Sphinx's Rev got too much hate. Every single color has a way to beat it. Also all those deck's removal share white in their casting cost. I'm not exaggerating when I say they lose to Stormbreath. I could do almost nothing all game long and cast a stormbreath. If it hits the table I win. Supreme Verdict just isn't going to save you and that is all you have to fall back on.
The only combinations that is likely for any control deck is Esper and Grixis because they have access to doomblade, bounce, and hero's fall. They are much much weaker vs aggro.
I do like Bant midrange. It has a ton of options and ends the curve at Angel of Serenity. Probably the best late game creature right now. I don't like Aetherling. He can only be cast when you are ahead and doesn't bring you from behind. We call that win more. Serenity chains offer more CA, a one sided board wipe, and can bring you from behind.

Arbor Colossus isn't a card. Deadbridge Goliath was a 5/5 for 4 that scavenged, Loxodon Smiter was mainly seen in sideboards and Call of the Conclave wasn't seen. Just because it's p/t is above the curve that doesn't make it good.
And for Devotion, that implies that Nylea would be played, and that that deck couldn't do better, which it could easily (BTE)
I can still Celestial Flare and counter that dragon in at least WU, and that's if I'm not playing other colours. It won't instrawin games by itself, it'll top curves and provide a finisher that can't be Charmed or Helix'd away.
And WU and WUR are still viable control colours. WU has a consistent manabase (moreso with Scry) and WUR has Anger of the Gods, Searing Spear, Warleader's Helix and more.
If anything I expect a competition between Esper and WUR to be the premiere control deck while aggro dominates as usual at the start of the format.
I see Anger of the Gods being used to complement Supreme Verdict with Smiters and Reckoners seeing more plsy therfore, and I still hold hopes for Thassa, seeing her as bring able to operate as an almost Phyrexian Arena.
Judge's Familiar still holds a place in my heart, but the Whip seems very interesting.

Deadbridge doesn't say "become a 9/9 and kill a flyer" on it either. The green god is being very undervalued. Trample is extremely important for green. We have all these huge bodies that just get chumped all day. That is until you drop the green god. It is very easy for you to be on curve with turn 3 god > turn 4 Colossus turning on devotion swing with 6/6 god. The guy will have a role in standard.
BTE decks fold to 1 anger of the gods let alone Supreme Verdicts. The decks are good but I think a lot of people going to make the mistake of playing the Theros dual blocking their early turn plays. That makes this deck inconsistent.
On top of that people are going to expect BTE decks to show up in force along with RDW. If I was going to a big event I would main deck vs those decks and sideboard plan vs control. Aggro deck are usually the cheapest to build. Factor that into the event being 1 day after release and its not hard to predict what the majority of the field is going to be.
I'm not worried about mid range because my deck already chews them up.

I'm convinced then. Arbor Colossus will always be monstrous at the perfect time, isn't easy to remove, is very consistant and impacts the board state early and significantly.
On a less sarcastic note, I can see what you're getting at. A mono-green aggro/ramp list might work better than expected. Good plays off a turn 1 mystic aren't impossible, and Mystic>2/3 drop, Nylea, Bomb is fair enough. I wonder whether Gods trigger Evolve.
Burning-Tree Emissary is good, and will be played. This is obvious enough. Dies to removal or stupid plays is a poor argument.
On another note, both can easily fit in the same deck, and Gyre Sage can be worked with it too.
I hardly think that Nylea and Arbor Colossus will dominate standard however, even independantly of each other. And playing one solely because of how it benefits the other isn't going to improve the deck overall.
Edit: Does the monstrosity do anything other than +3/+3? What targets are there?
