Don't forget the judge promos that would be added to the format: show and tell, vindicate, imperial recruiter, swords to plowshares (which is also in a lot of other modern bordered stuff), wasteland.
BGx isn't armed with overpowered stuff, it's just full of incredibly pushed cards that's all.
Exactly. And we need less of that crap these days. No more 'pushed' stuff that keeps upping the ante on powercreep. DRS was the breaking point for me.
Strix might not be relevant against certain decks, but against the decks that it IS relevant against, it's ridiculously oppressive. Aggro is struggling as it is.
I suppose I don't even need to argue about this because it's a moot point - the format isn't getting strix any time soon.
"For me" as in, thank the ****ing Anunnaki that you're nobody, with 0 influence on this game, because you sir, have a ridiculously warped view of the game and the format as a whole.

And you are? What influence do you have on this game?
I'm sorry that this format doesn't cater to you, because I'm quite happy with it as whole. Please don't act so childish and angry when you can't get the things you want. Or in general, as it seems to be a trend with your posts. =/
YOU are the one with a warped view of this format if you think that Baleful Strix is a balanced card for modern. Cherry picking matchups where it isn't relevant isn't a good argument - you have to look at the situations where the card is relevant.
The card was printed in Planechase SPECIFICALLY because the Devs didn't want it in standard or modern - their words, not mine. So it would seem that they agree with me.
Again, sorry that this format isn't legacy lite, where Faeries dukes it out with Dark Depths, Turn 3 Chrome Mox Splinter Twin, UB Tezzeret/JTMS control, etc.
That's all I really have to say on the matter. Lashing out at me like a child won't make WOTC give you the things you want. =)
Unfortunately, some posters are allergic to keeping it civil. Everything has to be made personal because I'M THE BEST AT MAGIC and everyone who disagrees with me is a SCRUB that needs to MAN UP.
Obvious trolls aside, I don't mind most other people in this forum - the discussion is quite lively.
But please stop trying to tear me a new one when I point out that Baleful Strix, Top based Miracle control, and other archetypes don't belong in the format and are being kept out on purpose. The solution to Jund is not decks more soul-crushing and back breaking than Jund. End of story.
I'm not trying to assassinate anyone's character, when they lay out in front out everyone their childishness for all to see. Go look at the SCD "fleecemane lion" discussion, lol.
On another note, Odyssey block would be sweet in Modern - Entomb especially. I couldn't really see that breaking the format now that DRS, Ooze, RIP etc. are available.
Baleful Strix is too powerful for modern, yet you want Entomb in the format? Do you see why I'm saying your view of the format is absolutely warped?
Baleful Strix is a perfectly fair card. Hell it could probably be in Standard, and would have less an impact on the format than Scavenging Ooze. Yes its strong, but its not overpowered or broken at all.

I don't think that looking at Strix by itself being fair is a good evaluation of wether or not it's safe for the format. You have to look at what else can go with it, Caleb Durward recently stated that he believes Deathrite Shaman, Tarmogoyf and Baleful Strix are the 3 best creatures in the game (excluding Griselbrand). I believe that if it were modern legal we would see a very scary BUG deck come out of it, which would in turn destroy other decks in the format. If people find Jund to be a problem now they'd find BUG with strix even worse. At the moment I don't think it's good for modern, maybe in the future if the power level of the format goes up, but not now.
I kinda agree, being ok with Entomb over Strix is a bit nanners.
The only concern with Entomb really is if it makes instant reanimator too consistent. I'd say it's safe, and that making a combo deck like that better would be good for the format, but I'm sure there's plenty of people that disagree.
Why can not people accept the parameters of the card pool? Everyone wants to play with this set or this block in the format. Yet the farther you go back, the more broken the cards become, hence the more bans we would see, yet everyone is against bans.

We're all weird like that.
Magic is a weird subjective experience.

Turn 2-3 wins aren't allowed in the format. If you are on the draw and you don't have Dismember, Thoughtseize, Spell Pierce, Swan Song, Inquisition of Kozilek, or Duress in your hand, you lose to turn 1 Entomb and turn 2 Goryo's Vengeance. Modern can't handle that.

Exactly. The answer to Jund is NOT another oppressive goodstuff deck with ridiculously undercosted stuff like SFM or Strix.
I knew the moment I said that Entomb would maybe be cool that he would latch onto that - so predictable. Sorry for a moment of reminisces to the old days of Odyssey block standard - I forgot about Instant Reanimator since noone ever plays it.

I don't agree with Duward. I'd say Emrakul, Goblin Lackey, Arcbound Ravager, Stoneforge Mystic, and Deranged Hermit are all more powerful than Strix.

Why are you, king of "X had it's chance and never again," even reading a thread in which people post their fantasy reprints?

I never said that. Modern parameters were set when the format was announced, and ever since talk like this thread have been going on. When most of the people in the thread are against bans, yet are asking for cards much more powerful then cards on the ban list. Its illogical Wotc is going to allow those powerful cards from outside of the parameters of the format.
Didn't even Show and Tell get a judge modern bordered reprint?
Although I'd LOVE to play my legacy stiflenought in Modern...
Just gotta modern border Force of Will and Misdirect!

What you said is pretty darn close to it. This was hashed out in the banned list thread: You're against reprints of any sort in modern. To you the parameters are 8th on and nothing that even appeared before it. There are posts where you go off against Rancor, and something that doesn't see play. If your response to every answer in this thread is, inherently, "no" why are you even here?
Seems like a lesson in futility.
And yet you post.

All of Omnitell and Sneak and Show except for Force of Will would be Modern legal. All of Legacy Jund would be Modern legal (excepting banned cards). All of Legacy Reanimator would be Modern legal. In a format where Seething Song is banned, don't you think that Lotus Petal and Ancient Tomb would be too. In a format where Preordain is banned, you think Brainstorm would be okay? In a format where Storm has been hit with 4 bannings and hasn't ied, you think bringing Tendrils of Agony and Dark Ritual into the format would be a good idea? In a format where Birthing Pod has been considered for a ban, you think that Survival of the Fittest would be fine? Some of the cards that you are suggesting are broken in Legacy and Vintage, why wouldn't they be broken in Modern? You are suggesting turning Modern into Legacy without Force of Will, which would remove the entire point of the format. The format would even have cards that are on the reserved list in it! If you want to play in Legacy or Vintage, play them, but leave my format alone.
You are assuming I am saying, something I never said. I often wish I could post things and people could understand what I am saying, instead of jumping to conclusions.
The cards listed that I don't have an issue with are. Wasteland, Phyrexian Dreadnought, Burning Wish, Living Wish, Cunning Wish, Armageddon, Goblin Welder, Karakas, Hymn to Tourach, Ancient Tomb, Impulse, Buried Alive, and Windfall
Too many legacy staples would end up in modern.

bocephus, he got you there. EVERY single posted idea that is NOT yours end up w/ you shutting it down. >_>
People here are gonna post the MOST memorable cards there is that isn't on the format. And most of the time, it's going to be REALLY good cards.
About the idea of getting some madness mechanic back... I don't like that one. <_< Too many awesome things are gonna get banned because of it. LOL
What I would like from to see that block though is Threshold. I loved seeing my 1/1 Squirrel turning into an 8/8 monster. LMAO
Another thing from Oddysey I would want to see are the Nightmares. Aside from Worldgorger Dragon, everything else aren't too broken IMO.
