I feel like this + the new chandra, pyromaster are great ways to find answers and help board control. The new card anger of the gods is a great SB add for aggro decks.
Slagstorm already existed and I don't think anyone was playing that. Most of the sideboards I've seen don't have many (if any) sorcery spells, warping the deck to fit Wish doesn't seen worth it.

Put four plains in the deck? Ok... You know the amount of red this deck needs right? You also know how the Sol lands eat up our Red slots? That is not the best plan in the world.
I agree with Dice_Bag on this a LOT. The best way for even a "Splash" would be to just run the "Bomber Man" combo at that point. Or get really crazy/stupid up the land count and run Mox Diamond. But thats just killing the deck at that point.

If wizards would print a green, black and white version of Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast Painter could be done in every color.
Is this deck well-suited for todays metagame? I'm currently working on this deck, so I'd like to know how it's been doing lately.
It is still a fine deck, but slightly on the wane with people going of Deathblade a little bit. However, with Shardless BUG still being a big deck, Painter still has a very good position.
I'm prepping to play in a GPT soon, and I'm a little curious about the Ratchet Bomb's I've seen the the SB of some lists.
Besides the obvious use of sweeping up Tokens and Flipped Delvers, is there a reason why one would choose Ratchet Bomb over say Whipflare? Any not as obvious reasons to play Ratchet Bomb?

Took first at a recent local qualifier with Painter. Really love the deck, and while I agree that it's only dominant vs. greedy manabases, it still has decent game against most of the non-emrakul, non-burn decks.
I am currently assembling cards to convert my monored list to a white splash for enlightened tutors and the superior silver bullet toolbox sideboard this enables. Without much card advantage/filtering, I really think this deck needs more quick tutoring.
I've debated trying out Gamble as a tutor since it synergizes with Welder to a degree, but I'm still thinking that enlightened tutor is the better choice. We'll see what testing shows...

This is exactly how I feel. The problem I'm finding is that a substantial amount of people love playing SneakShow.
Vs. Mono Red, I side in Trinisphere and hope to drop it turn 1. You can also side in Leyline of Sanctity if you run it. It's good vs. discard, but very risky in multiples after your opening hand.
Vs. SneakShow, I side in Ensnaring Bridge, but Echoing Truth beats me if I can't Blast it. I also side in 2 Surgical Extraction, so I have to Grind twice to combo out. (once with SE on Emrakul and then again next turn with Emrakul extracted)
Also, locally I've seen a decline in Shardless BUG and Deathblade. In fact, I've never been matched up against Shardless.

It buys them a turn at most, barring them having 7 cards in hand entering their turn.
Okay, so an extra turn = you lose against graveyard strategy decks like Dredge and it's variants.
What sideboard tech does painter use against dredge, manaless dredge etc., to negate them using a Worldspine/Blightsteel (like in a Balustrade Spy list)???
You honestly wont see it come up that often unless your facing manaless dredge. Its a non-factor in all honesty.
You board in gy hate and can even Welder lock them with a crypt.
If it gets down to them constantly discarding it to keep them from drawing out, you probably are in a good position to win.
@Slave it looks like your under the guise that an iPainter player would grind away with out their painter in play. This is only the case for certain decks (at least in my case). Personally if I don't have my whole combo in play, I wont help out dredge at all. When it comes something like Emrakul normally game 1 is a bust. Sometimes there are ways around it but most people don't main deck a Crypt. Game 2 I side out the Grindstones, and side in Ensnaring bridges and Koth. But thats just me.

In the case of dredge... keep in mind that they use Blue spells to full there dredging mostly (Unless they are manaless version) (Faithless Looting is great) so we can slow them down... Also keep in mind that post board it's really easy for us to deal with Zombie Hords with something like Ratchet Bomb... or Ensnaring Bridge. If you are running some GYH it should be good for you.
A lot of people are mistaken and think Imperial Painter is a pure combo deck... we have quite a few tricks up our sleeves.
Something I have been looking at recently due to my personal problems with delver and its variants, is Combust. We turn everything blue (generally) and use it to blast away what ever our problem it. Gofy? its blue so its dead, tidespout tyrant? dead.
Just something I have been kicking around, maybe in a real blue heavy meta.
Another thing, is there any way to actually kill True-Name Nemesis? Ratchet Bomb maybe? Because it says "As True-Name Nemesis enters the battlefield, choose a player.True-Name Nemesis has protection from the chosen player. (This creature can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage, or enchanted by anything controlled by that player.)"
Thoughts?

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to find a Legacy combo deck to pick up, and Painter is my first choice. My concern, however, is that this deck seems to just lose to any deck packing Eldrazi. I don't see a way to deal with this anywhere in the 75. Is there something I'm missing?

Yes, Ensnaring Bridge. What one of the Eldrazi can attack past a bridge? Then you put down Jaya and ping your way to a win. Also once you have Painter in play all Eldrazi become blue and thus can be targeted by Jaya.

...Except that Emrakul becomes blue but retains protection from conveniently blue coloured spells.

Should you combo out, and they have something like a Worldspine Worm, Blightsteel Colossus etc., that returns to their deck...
How does this deck win from there?

Edit: Specifically talking about the Sneak and Show.
Yeah some people try to 3 card combo it by playing Surgical Extraction or Tormod's Crypt but honestly I think the best way to win is get an Hand with Ensnaring Bridge and get it into play. Side as many Blasts as you can, to counter early Show and Tell's, drop Ensnaring Bridge and win via Jaya Ballard, Task Mage or Koth of the Hammer.
