First, let me start by saying I don't mind if this gets moved to BS. I'd actually prefer not to become the next Rumor Mill hero, but I feel like some things I've learned should be mentioned. I'm not going to disclose my source outside of messages to mods, whose inquiries I welcome, but considering this source spoiled Thoughtseize's reprinting for me, I feel that the information I gleaned should be brought to your attention even if I don't want to out-and-out deem it a "rumor."
Point 1: There WILL be a Modern Masters 2.
Yeah, nobody saw this coming, right? *crickets chirping* This point is really just a precursor to -
Point 2: Modern Masters 2 WILL have the Zendikar fetchlands in it.
Again, not really a shocker, as something as good as a fetch would definitely qualify as something Wizards would "toe the line" with a la Tarmogoyf. However, I felt it was important to mention.
Point 3: Modern Masters 2's release will be accompanied by another release of Modern Masters 1.
This is the best piece of information I have to offer, as it pertains to the future value of Modern Masters 1. It shares the common thread of being predictable though. Nothing in MM is on the Reserved List, and Gaea knows there's demand for it. Anyways, that's all I have for now. Happy travels!

"The imagination is not a State: it is the Human existence itself." - William Blake
It would be pretty funny if they printed the ZEN fetches in MM2 then brought back the Onslaught fetches for the return to Zendikar.
I would anticipate other high value cards like Mox Opal, Remand and Inquisition of Kozilek to make an appearance, and probably also some more popular combo pieces such as Living End, Scapeshift and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle.
Also, I wonder if they are being designed to draft together? Possibly not, as I expect Infect to be an archetype and they might not want to mix +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters in the same draft format.
MM1 re release is actually great. That means that higher value cards like Shackles, Cryptic Command and Pact of Negation will continue to go down in value.
Stuff to except for MM2 will include Remand, IOK, etc. I think the cut off point will be whatever the last thing that wasn't in Standard, so it all depends when this happens.
Fetchland speculation is fun and all, but there is one very important thing to note.
When shocklands were added to the Return to Ravnica set, RTR became the highest selling magic set ever. Rares and -- to a lessor extent -- Mythics in the entire block became dirt cheap because so many wholesalers were buying boxes just to meet shockland demand.
In any other block, would a card like Supreme Verdict being selling for 1.50? That's how oversaturated the rare market has become because of the shocklands.
Wizards knows all this. They're looking at the money they made, and planning for the next time to release an expensive land set. It isn't this year, and probably not the year after, but they will. And it will be in a standard legal set.

This is one of the main reasons why I'd think that the fetches would be in a standard block and not in MM2. They have to put some duals in there anyway, and there are so many other chase cards in the MM sets that it almost seems redundant to put them in there.
I don't mean to come off like an ass or anything, I've no reason not to believe OP, but can a mod attest to the validity of the source?

Probably too much speculation, but hey, its Christmas, I can dream.
I don't think +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters together would be much of a problem here. It's something they generally avoid in a normal set, but this is Modern Masters, so they're willing to make things far more complicated than normal.
That said, I doubt there will be too much synergy between the two sets. The reason I say that is that they will probably put new archetypes in MM2 both to make it feel fresh and because they already used most of the cards they would want for those archetypes.
Also, some archetypes aren't going to have any overlap no matter how hard they try. If B/G in MM2 has a heavy infect theme, for instance, it's not going to benefit too much from MM1's dredge cards.
My other bit of speculation is that the set is going to have a much higher percentage of multicolored cards. With MM1, they wanted contrast with RTR block, so they only put in two multicolored cards per "guild." That means they have a lot of cards from Ravnica, Shadowmoor, and Alara blocks that were off-limits for MM1 that they could use in MM2.
This is one of the main reasons why I'd think that the fetches would be in a standard block and not in MM2. They have to put some duals in there anyway, and there are so many other chase cards in the MM sets that it almost seems redundant to put them in there.

I think the fetchlands will be reprinted in the Huey-Dewie-Louie block in 2014. The longer Wizards wait to reprint them, the longer it's going to take Modern to get going as a popular format.

I like the idea of re-releasing MM1,
but would they really do that?
Wouldn't that steal thunder (and more importantly, sales) from MM2?
No, for two reasons:
- MM2 will obviously have cards in it to make it on par with MM1. I'd say the fetches qualify.
- MM1's already been printed once, so it won't have the "new" factor going for it like MM2.
My first post contained all my relevant information. I responded to TK's PM, so we'll see what he says.
Also, a reason to not have fetchlands in Standard is that search-and-shuffle effects create "loading" screens during gameplay. The next time they do fetchlands in Standard will most likely be Return to Zendikar.
i'd be keen for some mod confirmation at this point, but this sounds like awesome news!
I disagree that this is good news when it comes to the fetches. We knew that they'd be reprinted soon one way or the other, the only question was whether they'd be in a MM set or a Standard set, and pretty certainly not both. They would be more widely available if they were printed in a Standard set

-1/-1 and +1/+1 counters in the same draft environment isn't a problem for the intended audience.
I have bigger problems with seeing fetches in such an environment as they don't interact with any of the MMA lands and a small set can't contain much more than five lands. So fetchlands just for threshold, landfall and cards like Grim Lavamancer?

Wouldn't drafters value-pick them on sight? And would that degrade the draft environment, or is that the norm?

You're upset that something in the rare slot isn't relevant to limited? Do the useless Johnny cards pushed into that slot bother you as well?
Why do we need those last 3 reprinted? They don't even see play outside of casual last time I checked.
As for the news, I hope that this is true, but does that mean that the Onsaught Fetchlands aren't getting reprinted :(?
Also, while I appreciate the work that you have done, if it is possible, can you say what year this will be printed in, if the two sets will be drafted together, and if it will be only currently modern-legal cards (and if so, will there be a set limit for when the cards were printed like they had in Modern Masters)?

Eh, it's not like they *need* a reprint,
but they haven't gotten one yet,
and something has to be the Jugan, the Rising Star of MM2
Karn is practically a lock though, and that's good.
Liliana would be really great too- her foil is out of control.
Actually, remember Goyf? A reprint at mythic would probably just make them more expensive, unless this is printed more than MM was. Which is another thing that I would like confirmation on.

Any word on which set would be the cutoff point? If they take it to Return to Ravnica we can have Deathrite Shaman to match the fetches, Liliana of the Veil, Snapcaster Mage, Restoration Angel, Thragtusk?, the Eldrazi, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, Lingering Souls, etc.
Probably too much speculation, but hey, its Christmas, I can dream.
