Pain Seer is a Dark Confidant that can attack for 2 each turn and has an extra toughness. Better for aggro, better for control. Bob is about to drop big time.
Dark Confidant can also attack for 2 each turn. The difference is that Pain Seer has to attack each turn. It is good, but if you think that it is better than Bob you are deluding yourself.
As usual, the Mechanic cards are pretty basic, but it's good to demonstrate the basics for new players. Both Ephara and Pain Seer, however, look great. Certainly reaching 7 devotion is going to be difficult, but that won't stop anyone. And Dark Confidant-esque Black beater is a definite welcome. It is a Human, too, meaning Xathrid Necromancer just got better.

If your opponent has creatures out, bob still gets the card advantage( and a turn sooner I might add )
If your opponent doesn't have creatures out, bob still swings for the same amount of damage
Going from 1 to 2 toughness is almost irrelevant.
This card is better only in the most narrow situations, and is worse in the vast majority.
new bob has to swing to get benifits so sad more like grissley bear +1
You folks saying that he has to attack do realize there's many other ways to tap him besides attack, especially for Modern where a bloody budget to Bob is sorely needed.
I believe the new bob isn't as good as you think it is. It's slower for one thing. Also on the draw it's horrible because they probably play some 2/3 or 3/3 creature. In a black aggro deck against control it's awesome though.

The only power creep you will ever experience is Jon Finkel. Fear him.
Everyone who is saying that this is close to Bob's power level, do you remember Blood Scrivener? This is not nearly as good as Bob, just like that card.
Wow, just wow.
The only difference between the two is that Bob 2.0 needs to get tapped somehow, which means he is attacking and possibly dying or something is tapping him.
I like that red creature, makes me hope for a damage spell with that browbeat like mechanic.

The red mage lives by the variance and dies by the variance. May the variance be with you, always.
I'm not going to put too much thought into it, but Pain Seer has potential to do great things in formats likely other than standards. Don't know what, but it doesn't seem far fetched.
Dark Confidant can also attack for 2 each turn. The difference is that Pain Seer has to attack each turn. It is good, but if you think that it is better than Bob you are deluding yourself.
I certainly wouldn't say it is better than Bob, but unlike Bob, this guy can do what Bob does best at any time where as Bob only does it at the beginning of your turn. So there is some chances this could find an abuse.

RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.
Nah, I agree with all the people saying new bob isn't great. In standard, you won't really have a way to tap him reliably without swinging, and in older formats you have bob who is strictly better. This looks like Duskmantle Seer all over again to me. I'll pass.
You folks saying that he has to attack do realize there's many other ways to tap him besides attack, especially for Modern where a bloody budget to Bob is sorely needed.

You also should realized that Bob can draw cards independent of other cards which is a huuuuge deal.

True, but repeatably using this will make the life-loss big enough that it actually matters.
LOL, you think control wants to play a bob-effect? Not a chance

I don't care what gender you are!
Unbender Tine or Fatestitcher would also make me really happy,
but those are pretty much bound to Alara
As long as you play a creature during your turn,
you draw a card each turn until your next turn.
ie- 2 cards in a 1 on 1 game.
Oh, and she's got some fangs too, that one.

For a budget bob, you can use phyrexian arena.
I'm not even sure this bob variant is better than a simple elvish visionary a lot of the time.
You also should realized that Bob can draw cards independent of other cards which is a huuuuge deal.

Still wish they would have pushed all 5 remaining temples into this set, but alas.
I was Golgari before it was cool.
If I played Standard or Modern, maybe I'd care about Bob II, but alas, should I open any, he'll be good trade fodder.
Phyrexian Arena is better than Pain Seer, since it doesn't have to attack/be tapped, can't be easily removed, and it can be run in control.
