I like the new bestow creatures. Not amazing, but they're good enough for me.
Inspired seems weird to me, but I can see someone making it broken. I like Pain Seer. 2/2 for 2 isn't bad, and you could easily splash a little blue for Hidden Strings craziness.
Tribute seems fun in limited. I'd personally be happy to see Pharagax Giant in my packs. 5 mana for either a 5/5 or a 3/3 that deals you 5 damage is nice. I hope all the tribute creatures have nice little effects like that.
We now have a sorcery that relies on devotion. I hope the others are a bit better.
Heroic reappears and I like the one shown. a 1/3 for 3, while not great, isn't terrible. And making my opponent discard is nice.
And the minor god, Ephara, is cool. a 6/5 for 4 mana is nice. Her ability isn't bad, but that 7 devotion...
I like what I've seen so far. Hopefully the rest of the set is just as good.
Since blue got flying, sould we assume that red will be
All creatures you control don't get a good ability, where creatures your opponents control probably won't get bad abilities because you chose red and they chose blue
And the green one will be
Creatures you control are marginally better at best, while creatures your opponents control are pretty much unchanged.
In all seriousness though, as a limited player, these new mechanics seem pretty strong. Inspiration seems pretty fluid for limited, since attacking is how you win, and so far, bestow costs seem pretty cheap. And man. gods be gods.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
I'm loving the art for the Temples! I'm glad they just kinda gave us the actual card images for those and the Drum, which we've known about for a while now.
A bit disappointed in the Seer. Bob he is not. He's still good though, don't get me wrong, but needing to tap to get the ability each turn hurts. I could see him show up in standard at least.
Ephara is pretty cool, definitely glad they didn't make the lesser Gods weaker in a game sense, though not having an activated ability is kinda lame.
Getting tapped is HUGE. In standard there will be almost no play because of how creature heavy it is. In Modern it is just not fast enough. It has to jump through the hoop of (summoning sickness)(attack or tap)(defending creatures won't kill it) as opposed to Bob where it can just sit. The only benefit is attacking through DRS....
Even if Pain Seer is in its most ideal position it is still worse than BoB by far. Attacking each turn = draw a card one turn later than an actual Bob. Tapping it with springleaf drum or something else is just another unnecessary card when you can just run Bob.

Yeah but in any format other than standard the only reason to play him will be becuase you can't afford an actual bob. Otherwise it takes 2 turns before you draw a single card.
Bob only activates during your upkeep.
Pain seer activates whenever it gets untapped. There is a difference.

Would Dark Confidant still be good if he punched you in the face for 5 damage a turn?
Pain Seer is amazing for two reasons. The first obvious reason being its inherent power level, an aggressively costed creature that threatens to draw cards as a reward for aggression is something to be noted.
The second reason is he's a human. In the current Standard there's a mono black humans archetype floating around, and one thing I noticed was the cards weren't particularly powerful if you didn't have Xathrid Necromancer, or a good curve. This ameliorates both, by being powerful by itself and fitting squarely into the curve. It's an exciting addition for sure.
It's splashable, so who knows where that could lead it. Because make no mistake, it's going to be a major Standard player.
As long as you play a creature during your turn,
you draw a card each turn until your next turn.
ie- 2 cards in a 1 on 1 game.
Oh, and she's got some fangs too, that one.
It says under "your control last turn" so if you play a creature, you get a card during their upkeep only. Unless you have a creature enter the battle field under your control during their turn.
Also doesn't work how people want it to during EDH unless you have creatures enter the battlefield on other players turns.
I envision the price of Ral Zarek rising. Grixis control with new bob....
Bob is only good in aggro and tempo, because your cards are cheap. Also, as someone who has tried desperately to get Grixis Control to work in standard, not having any decent way to gain life makes it unfeasible.
There might be something in BNG that makes grixis control work, but it's certainly not Pain Seer.
Nah, I agree with all the people saying new bob isn't great. In standard, you won't really have a way to tap him reliably without swinging, and in older formats you have bob who is strictly better. This looks like Duskmantle Seer all over again to me. I'll pass.
We have no way to know if there are not other ways to tap him, in fact we know there is at least one way (Springleaf Drum). There will probably be other similar cards. The question is are they good enough to put in a constructed deck.
I like all these Standard players who believe the only way to tap a card it to attack with it. Absolutely adorable.
Pain Seer isn't an amazing card like Bob but iy could easily find a home somewhere. Its more Johnny than Spike, of course, and I expect that there will be plenty of inspiration enablers in BNG.
Good enabler for Bx Little Kid in Standard. Otherwise, a Bob that's permanently provoked stands no chance of seeing play next to Bob, outside of an exploit (not Mind Over Matter, that card is hardly playable)
Yeah but in any format other than standard the only reason to play him will be becuase you can't afford an actual bob. Otherwise it takes 2 turns before you draw a single card.
Not if I already have a way to tap him in play when he is summoned. Bob doesn't always come out turn 2, you know, often he's brought out late game.
Look, it's no Bob reprint, which is what they should have done. Reprint the damn thing already or ban it altogether is my motto, but I'll take what I can get.

Bant Control could use Prophet of Kruphix and Ephara to turn into a Bant Aggro
So my Nightveil only has one of its symbols counted for Phenax?
Still counts as 3 devotion to Thassa right?
Nono, you misinterpreted it. Nightveil counts for 3 total. The God counts as 2 (one white, one blue). Therefore your total count with both out is 5.

The card is worth trying out, but I sure won't preorder it for 10$+
You can. Maybe an Inspiration deck could happen in Block Constructed, especially if some more enablers like Springleaf Drum are printed.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

It's trash, imo.
Springleaf Drum.
And there may be other, similar things.
This Bob will make waves in Standard.
Modern... probably not.
Reprint Stasis!
Control needs more love.

Yes, but that will take multiple cards and make the life loss add up. Bob is still much better.
