Haha people complaining about losing money on DRS when they were playing them in decks with fetches and/or goyfs, lillys, bobs, etc. I get how the banning would be upsetting as they are a very powerful part of whatever deck they are in, but the losing money argument doesn't hold much weight.
I get snapcaster decks easily dealing with DRS, but you're not thinking about some of the pure graveyard decks.
Rites was nearly unplayable, loam just dissapeared lol, living end dropped back into 2.5, dredgevine dissapeared too.
In all of modern, deathrite shaman is the second most played creature. That's reducing diversity. It's a one mana planeswalker for god sakes.
There's more than just DRS keeping the grave in check. Reprinting Scavenging Ooze was a huge hit for those decks too. People will just play it as a 4-of now without DRS to share the stuff to munch on. Wouldn't be surprised to see Relic of Progenitus make a comeback too.
I've been on both sides of DRS, and you just gotta pack some hate for it, same as any other good creature. Their reasoning was that it was good at all stages of the game, but so is a creature like Dark Confidant, and you don't see them banning him.
The following decks got better:
zoo
faeries
dredgevine
living end
storm
knight of the reliquary
the following decks got worse
jund
melira pod
bug control
Is this really that bad of a change?
Did Melira Pod get worse? I know they played Deathrite, but it seems to me that Deathrite Shaman was honestly more powerful against their deck than it was for it.
Also, I might be giving Voice of Resurgence too much credit, but it seems like that card gives Melira Pod a pretty decent matchup against Faeries.

DRS helped with Melira's grind plan. You actually tend to win with beatdown more than you combo off, and Deathrite is perfect for that. Also produced black which is sometimes relevant, and is better than a Birds or Hierarch to search up with Ranger of Eos.

pod becomes better. kiki pod faces 1 less card to hate off finks/archmage/redcap/etc. melira pod was a deck before DRS, it just has 1 less tool, but the cost of not playing DRS might be lower than the gain it gets from not having to face DRS, so kiki pod's finks/redcaps/archmages get better...
don't believe me, but multiple pros already tweeted this...

with the exception of current jund i don't think that's quite how it works. snapcaster becomes much more reliable without DRS and now all of those decks can run bitterblossom if they please
As the proud owner of 4x DRS, I'm happy with the bannings. The card was way too strong, and I figure that any value I lost in DRS can be recovered in my once more playable KotR.
Wish I had picked up Bitterblossoms for BW Tokens. Now I'll have to wait until 2015 for it to get reprinted in a mediocre set.
Tribal as a card type is no longer supported, so if it's getting reprinted, it'll either be in a sealed supplemental product like Commander or in a reprints set like Modern Masters 2.
Wow... holy sweet baby jesus wow. I am honestly not surprised about the DRS banhammer, my friend and I were just discussing how its probably next in line to get it, but im also really excited about the unbanning of nacatl, this might push my back into modern! also may make a place for domri to push into modern now ( at least in my deck, never said it would win much lol )
Wow, i'm really surprised that wizards had balls to do 3 changes at once.
While i still think that DRS shouldn't be banned, my main fear was that wizards banned it and did no unban, with those two unbans i won't have many reasons to complain.
Time to sell the DRS to legacy players and take BB out from the binder.
The sad part? BBE will probably not be unbanned anytime soon.
Why? It's not the first time we had a 'not-the-right-card-banned' and look where GGT still is. Anyway i would be happy to use my FNM BBEs once again, they are so cute =D
I love the unbannings but I am a little bummed that Ancestral Vision did not get an unban. They may have felt like 3 cards a time for unban was too much though.

We can hope. I think that it will be unbanned eventually. However, I highly doubt that Ancestral Vision will be taken off for a while now.
I'm really disappointed. My deck just got a turn slower and significantly worse and my least favorite deck to play against(Zoo) just got a lot better.
I've been a huge supporter of Modern for about two years now but this leaves a really bitter taste in my mouth. I've never really considered giving up on Modern before now.

Stick with it, try some new cards out. I'm bummed too, both the decks I play are gonna feel this change, but I have hope
I can get on board with all three of these decisions, but seeing a card get banned is always unfortunate. I can definitely see how it would leave a bad taste in the mouth of players. At least we got two unbannings to counter the one banning.
this is pretty much what is going to happen. i dont think DRS deserved the ban and im a big proponent of graveyard based decks. I do question how U/b fae will look with the giving card pool. without preordain or ponder it may be kinda rough.

The return of BB pretty much means Geist of Saint Traft is done. Also, I'm in the "DRS didn't need the ban" camp. Card was not broken. Easy to kill, easy to play around.
So, now DRS drops in price, BB goes up $40, and I'm out some cash and will never see any BB's. This blows.
Comedy, if it was not powerful card people will not care about it getting banned.
I have my set of DRS's and a couple extra foils I picked up because I thought they would be good for long term value. Kind of sucks they won't reach their potential but I'm mostly fine with the DRS ban. The simple fact is, the format is better without DRS and I would rather play a healthy format than make a couple dollars more one day in the future.

Melira Pod doesn't really care. Lots of people were running incorrect manabases which DRS was covering for but the deck was really good before DRS and it will continue to be really good after DRS. My biggest concern honestly isn't losing the mana fixing but finding room for more GY hate. Might see a comeback of KotR/Bojuka Bog and more Oozes but adding those requires some hard cuts which isn't necessarily a bad thing. At a minimum, it really just proves that pod suffers no lack of options.

unfortunately visions is too poweful imo to come off for now. Drs was format warping, it made BGX a thing. Now without it a few gy strategies can breath a little easier, snapcaster mage can do things again, and now Jund doesn't have a "you must deal with this or I win" turn 1 play. I think BGX will still be a thing since it still has efficient removal and discard, but it wont be 65% of the meta like it was
If you have a problem with my numbers, just remember 71% of all statistics are made up on the spot 56% of the time.
First they came for seething song and I did not speak out because I was not a storm player. Then they came for deathrite shaman, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jund player. Then they came for Snapcaster Mage, but I did not speak out, because I was not a U player. Then they came for my deck, and there was no one left to speak out for me. But screw eggs because no one liked that deck anyway.

BGx was good long before DRS was even printed.

I think that DRS is staying on. It is BBE that will come off if Wizards decides that Jund needs a boost.
While I agree with this, Living End was still Tier 1.5.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

Does anyone wonder if they didn't want Faeries to have access to DRS and they really wanted to unban bitterblossom?
