DRS is practically a one-manner Planeswalker that doesn't worry about loyalty counters. Anyone defending DRS is more concerned with losing the ability to play a degenerate card than the health of the format itself.
Nahh, not at all... What deck played DRS? One?! Pod is next.... If you want to balance the format unban cards.... I don't think their is a deck preside board that can beat pod now....
I'm sorry but I don't believe for a second that there won't be a deck somewhere in the format that wants to play goyf dark confidant and thoughtseize.... it's not like anyone who bought these cards lost any value on them as they're still some of the best cards in the format by far
DRS was the engine that made the deck run. You can throw as much money at the deck as you want, but it won't be good. Have fun 2-2'ing at FNM's.
Good luck finding Bitterblossom, though. What's the point if they gonna show up at 50$ and Vendillion is probably like $45...
Well you could have had taken a nearly no risk stance and bought them like 2 months ago. I mean copies were still reasonable at 15ish each just 2 months ago. I picked up 2 judge promo bitterblossoms at a reasonable price about 1 week before this banning announcement.
I think Deathrite Shaman is one of the worst bannings in the past 3 years of Modern. They will be crying in their pillow when they see what Snapcaster will do with the format now. Snaps is going to team up with some Faeries and make for one hell of a deck.
I personally feel as though the banning of DRS is also a good indication that the allied colored fetches will be printed, making them legal for the Modern format. The reprint has been in demand for a very long time, and people have speculated for awhile.

I kept smashing Modern UB Faeries with Bitterblossom against Modern Pod, and Modern Pod kept winning. I even swapped out Faeries's Ancestral Vision for Snapcaster Mage and upped the removal count just to attempt to make the match-up better for Faeries. I don't think they helped enough.
I suspect Grixis Faeries with one-sided board wipes may be viable in Modern. It sure as heck improves Faeries's match-ups against Pod and Jund.
It will still be fine. It will probably go back to running Grim Lavamancer. I am back to hoping for a Bloodbraid Elf unban now.
Grim Lavamancer doesn't quite fill the same role. Something like Arbor Elf is far more likely to ramp into a turn 2 Liliana. Bloodbraid Elf doesn't quite deserve a ban, but I think Maro's too stubborn to unban it.
I'm just swapping out DRS for Arbor Elves in Melira Pod and being happy that I have one less card to hate on my combo.
Exactly, DRS kept a lot of decks in check.... Pod, Snapcaster based control, etc...
Pod is going run rampant... And then in April boom here comes another ban hammer...

Man, I really hope so. I think the fetches are just such a horrible sting to the wallet across Modern, Legacy and EDH. Any set/block that reprints fetches will sell in quantities I can't imagine.
And we'll get them with the new fancy schmancy card frames.

It's further proof that they don't really understand their own format. They have their ideas for what they want the format to be, but their ban lists don't really show much forethought in what it takes to get there. I have to wonder if Thoughtseize is next or something, on the grounds that it's "too powerful" because it can take any nonland card.
DRS being banned officially kills whatever interest I may have had in the format, at any rate.

I don't think snapcaster control decks really need to be kept in check, there hasn't been a real control deck doing well at a modern tournament since worlds and even then control has had a minimal presence in the format at best. Tron also completely ****s on any draw go style deck if it were to become super popular somehow.
Exactly as I expected, except for the lack of action on Show and Tell in Legacy.
Very glad I do not own foil DRSes, or LotVs, right about now.
Jund will still be a deck despite this, I guarantee it. I expect foil DRS's and Lilliana's to hold some value because Legacy players will still actively want them. I mean Deathrite is probably one of the most popular creatures of all time in Legacy, since its printing. This won't kill DRS as a card, it just limits its appeal a bit.
I am going to be stunned if Jund doesn't adapt past this change, I mean some people probably thought Bloodbraid Elf being banned was a deathknell for Jund also.
I don't think Melira Pod will do as well without DRS. It played it as a 4-of. What I am expecting is for Twin, Faeries, and Zoo to do well.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

Lol, don't look now, the regular one is 70$....wheeeee!
Melira can just play birds.. It doesn't matter they sac it to
Pod anyways....
